Great video! I lived in Luxembourg for many years. Lëtzebuergesch or Luxembourgish is similar to German but has quite a different spelling. A lot of people think it sounds a bit like Dutch as it’s a bit more sing-songy☺️ it’s a very multilingual country and usually when you get post from the government it comes in Luxembourgish, German, French, Portuguese ( due to the high level of Portuguese speakers )and English. Towards the south people speak more French / Portuguese and in the north Luxembourgish and German. Many people who grew up there speak between 3+ languages depending on their background 🥰

Wow! I had no idea about Portuguese. Thank you so much for this amazing comment! 👏

I like Google Maps but an actual physical map can't be beaten in ASMR

I've been bingewatching your videos to help me sleep for quite some time now and I've come to the conclusion that you have the tingliest speaking voice for a man I've ever heard. Love these geography videos! Keep up the great work!

Аachen (Fr: Aix-en-Chapelle, Dutch: Aken) is indeed on German territory; only a few hundred meters away from both the German-Dutch and German-Belgian borders. The three-country point "Vaals" with its famous labyrinth is a tourist attraction.

hiya! was born and raised in the netherlands :) you were absolutely right with saying that holland is the outdated name for the netherlands, but when you showed the province you were actually in zeeland (and holland is also split into south and north - not sure if you mentioned that because the video did make me very sleepy hahaha). anyways - it's easy to be confused to be fair, the dutch provinces aren't very big :) great video - the gentle paper crinkling and pen writing sounds were so relaxing, as was the mix of whispering and soft spoken, loved it!!! keep it up :)

You should look up Baarle Hertog and Baarle Nassau, very strange!

I‘m from Luxembourg, you mentioned the Gdp, but you meant Gdp per capita I think. The thought that Luxembourg has a lot of millionaires isn’t fully wrong, here are a lot of rich people but we are just rich in comparison with other countries, in Luxembourg we look like a average person in, per example, germany or france. Hope this helps :)

A few fun facts about the Netherlands:
Gouda cheese is actually not from the city itself, it’s called Gouda (Goudse kaas in Dutch) because it was traded there
The peninsulas of Zeeland used to be islands but were connected to each other during the building of the Delta works to prevent flooding.
During low tide you can walk from the mainland to some of the islands in the north. Get yourself a guide if you’re ever planning on doing this.
SC Heerenveen’s kit is based off the Frisian flag, the red ‘hearts’ on the flag (and their kit) are actually water lilies (pompeblêden in Frisian).
When excluding countries smaller than 10000 km^2, we are the most densely populated country in Europe and the eighth most densely populated in the world.
From 1830 until 1920, the tripoint border near Vaals used to be a quadripoint. Neutral Moresnet was the fourth ‘country’ whose borders came together at that point. It was a largely self-governing condominium between the Netherlands and Prussia from 1816 to 1830, with Belgium taking over the Dutch role in 1830. It was largely self governing for most of its history and it was kind of independent. It even was a tax haven for a bit. It’s very interesting and I’d recommend looking into it more

Yes, Luxembourgisch is like German. I got away with speaking German there to order food and the locals didn’t bat an eye:

Rotterdam is indeed the largest port of europe and 10th largest port in the world, with the 9 other ports in the top 10 locating in china
