    Cheltenham fan here. I had a very good view of the penalty claim and the ref got it spot on. I'm not being negative because I support Cheltenham, I'm saying your player did dive. You have a team quite capable of winning the league this season and I wish you luck.

    We have not been good enough since the CE stated that the 11 players out of contract at the end of the season, it looks suspiciously like there is unrest in the camp, this would not be the first time either. Players are not sure that if they get to the championship if they will have a job at the end of it, this is where the club buying policy fails. This explains to me why we drop off at Xmas after the announcement that they will not look at contracts of the 11 until the end of the season, well, as I said, it’s not the first time, every summer we are forced to rebuild the team, hope I’m wrong this time, but have been proven right every past season since we were taken over. Good vlog as always Tom.

    What has happened ? The team seem to be replaced with very mediocre players !! Possession means nothing if you don't have an end result. I feel sorry for the fans that travelled to Cheltenham' for 'that'. Our fans are top of the league, our team won't be for long.... It's all my fault for thinking this team were different and saying such, I should've kept it quiet !

    The problem isn't taking in two quick goals - it's failing to score another three! What was it - eight goals in three games when Bishop was injured and three goals in open play from five games since he's back? Is that right? That's not ear-cupping form!
    Now, it may be that the formation changes when Bishop is back. In that case we need to go back to the formation that we were playing before. One way or another, something has to change. I've been worried about goals all season, as I have repeatedly said on this page. I'm worried now that nothing changes and we just drift down and out of the top six, as we did before...

    Not good enough in front of goal. Lots of chances missed. You can’t blame the ref for that. Poor decisions should be irrelevant if you are playing quality football and it all evens itself out at the end of the season anyway.

    • @andrewpeace756
      @andrewpeace756 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Well said Philip, If Portsmouth are Championship bound then we should have found a way to win today irrespective of any doubtful refereeing decisions. Although a good team, Pompey don’t have the swagger of a promotion chasing team as they simply don’t score enough goals from the chances they create. Bishop apart, there is such little confidence shown in front of goal and that’s from a team at the top of the table! I commented to Tom a couple of months ago that I feared that Pompey’s season rested on the form of young Alex Robertson and his absence today and weeks ahead could be telling. But let’s stay positive, a bit more confidence in front of goal , a slightly more adventurous team formation from JM and things could turn around. Finally let us not fall into the trap of blaming the ref (Tom you should know better, well said Andrew). We both win and lose with dignity.

      Not so sure if it's Bishops fault its more down to the job he's being asked to do! He's chasing down and covering everything across the front so he's not always where he needs to be when we break quite often it's our final ball that let's us down in the last few games count how many times Kamara or Lane have had 1 on 1 with the keeper and failed to score! That accounts to 6 points thrown away at least. PUP

    Thanks Tom, Andrew and the gang. Listened in on pompy radio and I was as gutted as you guys.
    Seeing it with my own eyes your footage showed a Portsmouth that can shoot many times but strangely straight at a keeper. They had many poor ref decisions, like was Kamaras tumble in the box a yellow? Should Colby of had a penalty for the goal keeper hanging on to his feet towards the end.
    My mate who is a massive Plymouth fan said to me should be a win for you guys and my response before the match was we had a draw at Fleetwood nothing is certain, and this loss is yes one of a few we have had but as you said Tom felt manipulated in Cheltenham direction and secondly as Andrew said we were not good enough.
    Let please hope this is one game we can forget about when we are safely promoted. But if we don't squeeze through we will say these are the games that set us apart from the sides deserving of the promotion.
    Take care Tom, you do a brilliant job, I think your videos are excellent as always and I thank you for also being consistent with your content. Not easy to produce a video twice a week and then all the additional content like TLOP or jack ward show. Your a credit to the fan base and club.

    It's worth noting that fate has stripped us of the most creative and influential players recently, Regan, Tino, now Alex, and Yengi will be away for a while as well, and the players asked to fill their roles, with the exception of probably Bishop, will not have the same depth of talent and whilst they may strive to do their best, the effect on the performance of the team could be substantial. I hope they prove me wrong.

    It seems like we perform better against the so called better teams, That was so frustrating to watch today, POMPEY fans were in great voice and yes the referee was dodgy, But sometimes we put ourselves under so much unnecessary pressure ie the Raggett to Norris goal kick across the 6 yard box that they do every time, Oh well 3 points next week against Leyton orient is a must now.

    Not often do we see you feel hard done by poor refereeing! Not gonna overthink that result given the standard of officiating we all saw. Paddy's non-goal, the corners not given, the 'simulations', horribly unfortunate. Effort was there from the lads. Dominated the game save those fatal five minutes. Mousinho seems tactically set on playing this Tiki-taka possession out from the back style. I liked it with Poole and Robertson in the side. But it's not easy, especially when teams press us like Cheltenham did today, on a muddy knobbly field, and asking Raggett to play with the ball at his feet is not playing to his strengths. Feel like the players are talented enough that when they have played freely, creatively and more direct we've looked excellent. But our low-risk, disciplined approach will cost us if we're going for promotion I fear. Teams at this level will make mistakes if you take risks and just go at them. But often we have lots of possession without taking the risks needed to break down these tough defenses. Still trust the lads to figure it out, up the Blues.

    I’ve said all season, there are no mugs in this division. I’ve seen Barnsley at every away game bar Bristol, and apart from our customary roll over at Derby, we’ve done very well BUT just looking at those results doesn’t tell the full story. We were made to work for those points and could very easily been behind against quite a few of the so called ‘strugglers’
    Some of our fans would have had Neill Collins out of the door by now, because we don’t play like Man City and ‘oooh we don’t do well against the top 6’ but you can’t argue with where he currently has us with a wafer thin squad.
    I honestly think this is going to the wire this season. I think 3 or 4 of the current top 6 will still be scrapping it out for automatic at the death.
    I will look 👀 for you when we visit Fratton, and hopefully say hello.

    @TheJamie229 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Ref certainly cost us that game. If he plays advantage for the foul, Paddy scores and we go in at half time 1-0 up, it would be a whole different game. Seeing the corners that were given as goal kicks was shocking. Not sure the contact on Kamara was enough for it to be a penalty, but certainly enough for him to not be booked for simulation, which the ref then admitted to Rafftery.
    While the aim should of course be to do an Invincibles season, can't win them all, and you won't always win the games you are supposed to on paper. Can't really complain about only 3 losses by early Jan. There were times under Jackett when I didn't think we'd win a game again.
    Hopefully there's some decent reinforcements signed this month, to cover Robertson, Poole. Wouldn't mind Yengi coming back early from Asian Cup, and some more attacking reinforcements.
    Given that we've not won a game that Whyte starts, I'd say he's running out of chances. Such a shame for the bigger name signing that Mous seemingly really pushed for. It's just not worked out for him.

    Hi there Tom. Well I can honestly say that was the worst performance from a referee I have seen recently, and we've had many of them already this season, but that just tops the lot. That foul on Bishop was as blatant as you're ever going to see and Mather books him for diving. We had 2 clear penalty shouts and he gave neither of them. You can sometimes accept one not given but to turn 2 down is an absolute joke. He gives goal kicks when we should have had corners and to be honest mate, that ref should be made to sit and watch all that again and explain some of those poor decisions because that was unacceptable from him yesterday. But ultimately I think we did let ourselves down as well. When we go a goal up in these kind of games against a team like Cheltenham we shouldn't be conceding 2 goals in 3 minutes because we all know that these teams will then sit back and make it difficult to break them down. That was poor from us to go behind in the game just after we scored. But we're still top of the league and I still believe in this team that they can get us promoted this season. This result is a setback but it's all about how the team respond. We need to bounce back with a win against the O's next Saturday. As always keep the faith and play up Pompey 🔵 ⚪ 🔵

    It would have been better if we'd had a week off with the cup and weather , instead a heavy pitch and more bad news about injury . Having said that , these games have to be played and we were caught out after taking the lead . I still think there is enough depth in the squad to achieve promotion and today was one of those days . You don't moan about refs often , the Whittingham verdict on the radio was there was contact , maybe not enough but a booking certainly wasn't called for . Not looking for any sympathy! I think it's one of very few things that unite football fans around the country is the horrendously poor standard of how our games are officiated - and our game this weekend was a great example. I know the standard is low overall but the reason I made such a point of it was that is unusually bad. Thanks for watching - interested (and somewhat nervous!) to see how the season plays out!

    Was at the game as well I felt the ref got the scully one spot on he's not even touched really, the Kamara one he's booked for the defender does get the ball so it's not a pen but it's also not a dive. The other one on bishop is a bit of grappling you never get those. The other one on Kamara is the closest one to a penalty, looks like he stabs a foot out and bundles him over but hard to see if he touched the ball, looks like he didn't be it's by no means blatant. Worse decision in the game was when he gave the goal kick after the chelt player booted it off the line. It's just a shocking 5 mins from us conceding 2 goals to a team that didn't threaten us once is really poor and we didn't do enough in their final third to create any clear cut chances

    • @Fournilwrittenalloverit
      @Fournilwrittenalloverit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Surely the worst decision of the day is to blow for a foul when the ball hits the back of the net from Paddy? Blatant short-sighted officiating which gives the game a completely different complexion had we had the correct outcome. Goal kick/corners the wrong way round is the foundation for a poor refereeing performance - he's clearly in the wrong position on the pitch to come to any correct or conclusive judgment and guessed. All round poor, and I think the penalties are more contentious than you've suggested. Thanks for watching.

    • @frankiehullett4881
      @frankiehullett4881 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Fournilwrittenalloverit I agree the refereeing was really really poor, even worse than most weeks, but I don't think those major decisions were incredibly wrong. The paddy lane one looks like it cost us a goal but it did seem like most of the players around sort of stopped and let him have the shot and the keeper also didn't try to save it. Some of the corner decisions defy belief

    Couldn't get there but looking at your footage of the game Pompey were creating chances all over the show, just didn't finish off any of them. I think that's the real take-out, not the refereeing (which sometimes goes our way, sometimes doesn't).
    Key thing now is to continue to strengthen the squad, put this behind us and start the season again in the next game. Sixty points up for grabs, and still we're in a great position with almost all the players who got us top of the league in the first place. We've had poor run, if we can snap out of it other teams will undoubtedly slip up too.

    Great vlog this and very well summarised :)
    I'm a ground hopper, so was there as a neutral, and although I think your finishing was to lame for the loss the referee certainly didn't help - the one on Kamara at the far end certainly looked a pen to me and bad decision not to play advantage for the disallowed goal.
    I've watched Portsmouth lose to Cheltenham and draw 3-3 against nine man Coventry....My 92nd, and final ground, will be Wycombe V Portsmouth on 29th March.... hope you have a bit more luck with that one!!!

    @IReallyCba 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Lot of things to pick around with yesterday
    First thing the ref, what a turnip he was. Kamara was stone wall pen, scully was outside box.
    Multiple times he gave corners for goal kicks and visa versa.
    We won’t talk about the amount of time he let the Cheltenham keeper waste with all dead ball situations. Probs could have played another 20 mins without that
    Twat
    People seem to be jumping on Gavin Whyte but up until about 60 mins I actually really liked his play. Dropping in, linking play, winning knock ons, laying off balls to wingers. I also liked him in that free role because the amount of times he got into a complete free positions with no one around him and we didn’t use him.
    Our crossing was unusually awful.
    We seemed to rush all dead ball situations. Can’t work out why for the life of me.
    We had the chances, needed to take more.
    Abu had the beating of both full backs he played against in that game but I felt was scared to shoot or wanted to walk it in. One too many passes every time.
    At the end of the day unlikely players making stupid mistakes ended up costing us the game.
    As long we we start “soon” getting back on the wins then I’m still confident we’re on our way up this year.

    Really gutted about today’s result!
    Just another advert for the quality of refereeing in league one frankly! An absolute disgrace and think there needs to be reviews into this type of performance from officials!
    That aside, I’m really starting to worry that the team are now slipping! What was a team that seemed like they could turn any game into something, seem to currently be firing blanks😫 some terrible results in the last few weeks against some really mid/bottom table teams.
    The team need to start turning these games j to 3 points fast or we will be knocked off the top of the table in no time!!

    Well....what can you say really? We shot ourselves in the foot with poor defending. Playing from the back the way we do, mistakes will always happen. Watching on ifollow, looked pretty clear penalty / penalties to me. Ref was absolutely hopeless.
    But we threw it away. We must be better than that. 20 to go. The last 10/11 we face all our current rivals for promotion.
    Buckle up lads.......and PUP!

    No surprise, it's the annual new year collapse. The standards of this club must be among the worst anywhere. Unprofessional sloppy players coached by inexperienced and under qualified coaches and managers. No ones doing a thing about recruiting better players which we badly need. Absolutely no chance of promotion, who on earth would trust this shower of Gavin shyte in the championship?? Certain individuals in this squad are of particular concern. Unfortunately there's simply no ambition or drive to do better from anyone in the club. Next season we can watch Wrexham get promoted while our bottle jobs bottle it yet again. I won't be wasting another second of my life on this feeble rubbish.
