  • I finally had a chance to drive the new Model 3 at Tesla Mulgrave here in Australia, and there's lots to talk about ! Now, for context, they only gave me the car for an hour, so I had a lot to film and experience in such a short amount of time-but hopefully you still find this short review useful.
    For anyone that's ordered one, this video will be sure to get you excited ! Please subscribe and I'll be sure to bring you more on this car in future.
    Will I be ordering one? Not at this stage, as the Model Y is too perfect for us right now given with just had a baby. But if my Tesla stock does well, maybe this could be our second car!

    I really love this new type of review/video, it gets straight to the point, the editing is amazing, the camera angles are great, this is by far the best Highland Model 3 review I have seen so far. Been here since the start mate, this is the start of something great!🥂Awesome job as always

    The USA does not generally have roundabouts . I imagine indicating on them when turning will be a problem as the lack of a stalk means you have to find the button on a wheel that is no longer where it was in a turn .... and quickly

    • @LaszloWilliamDaniel
      @LaszloWilliamDaniel 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Not really. I drove my new M3 Highland for 4 days and i can tell you that it's not that complicated at all. You can easily turn the "exit" indicator if you find the right time in which the driving wheel is in a good position.

    • @RyanCowan
      @RyanCowan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Just indicate when approaching the roundabout? No need to do it while you're turning. That said, I'm sure I can try and replicate some tricky situations in my next video.

    • @robyngreen2728
      @robyngreen2728 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I test drove one and in all honesty it took less than 60seconds to be automatically using the buttons. I also found that with the gear shift done via the screen there was no chance of mixing up indicator and gear shift as I still occasionally do in my Y. It's a great update, so much so that I am ordering in the next day or so. If an almost 70 year old can adjust so easily, I'm sure you would too.

    • @spsmith45
      @spsmith45 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yeah, the issue is when you exit a tight roundabout. Buttons are clearly awkward and inferior in that regard. I think Tesla saved money and produced something less driver-focused. There’s a reason BMW, Mercedes and co have rejected that solution. Otherwise, apart from no accurate parking sensors, it’s a lovely car.

    If Tesla was responding to customer feedback when updating the model 3, I'm pretty sure nobody asked for the stalks to be removed. And you don't need to take your hands off the wheel when using an indicator stalk, even when the wheel is turned.

    Thanks for the awesome review. Yes, the Tesla's are just a Computer on Wheels. I just recently purchased the 2023 Model Y LR and really enjoy it. I preferred getting the hatchback style Model Y. I didn't want to wait for the Juniper model Y soon to come out in 2024 though it also should be very nice. Tesla keeps minimizing the physical driver controls and move them into the Display screen for control. I find allot of features I can just use Voice control to activate many of them in my Model Y.
    Only thing I wish they would make voice control is turn signals. Might make it nicer with the newer models with no stalks.

    Thanks Ryan. Great review. As an oldie, but someone who is still very tech savvy, I've been very worried about the lack of stalks for. the indicators and gear shift compared to my recent MY RWD, i had until October. It was a 2023 model but unfortunately, I was involved in a serious accident through no fault of my own and I lost my ride. The only downside I had really with the MY was the overly harsh suspension. I think you've put many of my fears to bed with this review so just have to wait for the new MY Juniper due sometime next year.

    You might not have roundabouts down under but in many countries there are massive amounts and of different sizes and number of lanes in them. It is important that drivers signal before and exactly when they want to exit the roundabout to keep up the flow in traffic. When people dont signal many drivers have to wait unnessesarily to enter which slows down the traffic.
    I have tried the and it is very hard to hit the right place on the steeeing wheel to indicate when the steering wheel is some where between upside down to less than that.
    So now even less people will indicate or indicate at the right moment in roundabouts.
    It is really frustrating that Tesla didnt do enough research before they took the blinker stalk away.

    This is the first video I saw that no negative comments about the new model, can’t believe you said removing the indicator stalk is a good move, so there’s no roundabout in Australia then?! If you exit the roundabout, before you don’t need to look at the wheel, no you need to pay attention before pressing, it’s quite dangerous

    • @RyanCowan
      @RyanCowan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Not everyone is going to have the same opinion on the removal of the stalks 👍 I'm a big fan of what Tesla are doing. And I never indicate to exit a roundabout, it's not required. But I'll be sure to cover this in my next video.

    • @KevinWuPlus
      @KevinWuPlus 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@RyanCowan Yeah it’s probably not required, but it’s require when taught by driving instructor here in UK. We have to indicate, this is to help indicate other drivers at the give way roundabout when they can make a move, so it’s safer.

    • @JohnPaulHales
      @JohnPaulHales 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes I think Ryan is in his own little world here, it is required to indicate off a roundabout in Australia unless it’s a mini roundabout. And it’s common courtesy to let drivers know that you are leaving so they can enter. I can see law suits when drivers have their arms broken by the airbag while attempting to indicate while the wheel is turned 90 degrees.

    • @swt-au
      @swt-au 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RyanCowan It's incorrect to say that indicating is not required when exiting a roundabout in Australia. In the ACT, NT, QLD and SA, indicating left is required when exiting according to their road rules. In NSW, VIC and WA, this is a requirement as well, with the caveat "if practical/feasible".

    Searching for indicator buttons when already turning? I would hate that. Not all of us live in a grid with (close to) 90 degree intersections. I need to start indicating when the wheel is already turned 80 degrees at one intersection, and turned 100 degrees at another. Either that or I just both break the law and increase the risk of an accident by not telling other drivers that I am about to turn at two different locations on a daily route. I don’t take my hand off the wheel to move the indicator stalk now.
    Probably a great car otherwise. But putting a control that both the law and safe driving requires to be used at very specific times in 360 different positions is daft. Presumably a decision made by someone who lives in a grid.
