Hey guys, Go Fast here again. Today you guys are going to see what I did to rebuild my 3906 Emaxx. I tell you what, it was a lot of time but it was totally worth it in the end!! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on the truck! Its a bit of a longer video but I think this truck deserves it!

Great video buddy! A couple months ago I got my late Grandfather's Nitro Rustler back running. Hadn't run since 2008 when he passed. I gave it to him as a birthday present in 2005. Ended up going back to me. It's a truck I will never sell.

Wow man, thats amazing. I've not seen many people with these on TH-cam for ages. Great to see people bringing back these cars that literally changed how rcs were designed. I've got an emaxx 3906 that is Modded so much that you can't even tell its an emaxx anymore, it's basically my main basher for my TH-cam channel. I ramp the thing like 30 ft high at skatepark. I just bought another emaxx 3906 for only £120 and it came with the original shell that's on mint condition to. I'll be making a restoration video soon like you. I just subscribed too, keep it up mate!
Hello there, not sure if you're aware that if you change those 12tooth pinion gears to the stock 18tooth, your final gear ratio will give you much faster top speeds. I found your video while looking for how 12tooth pinion gears would perform for crawling. looks like it could crawl straight up a wall in 1st gear! However, it seems like it would be much more functional with a higher top speed closer to stock over having such immense crawling torque like it displayed. Probably drained your batteries quicker as well since the motor is running at almost twice the stock speed with 12tooth instead of those 18tooth gears. Your first gear though, has an amazing crawl ratio of 43.36 to 1 and your second gear is only going to have a ratio of 26.92 to 1 according to the Traxxas manual. Basically, your 2nd gear runs at the same speed as 1st in an original E-maxx.
2001 was a memorable year for me, I became every tamiya owning kids envy on Christmas Day when I unwrapped my shiny new state of the art emaxx… after many years of enjoyment I can honestly say it’s because of this very car, that we enjoy todays 60mph lipo fueled bushless monsters.. the emaxx was a much further leap forward than what people thought.
Yup that's how I clean my plastic parts but I also give them coat of baby oil afterwards and let them sit overnight then wash again and makes the plastics really shine🤘🤘

I'm not a fan of traxxas at all but love the emaxx! It's what started me off in the hobby like 5 years ago when I bought one similar to this one off my barber and 15 trucks later it's become an addiction lol

Well I got a 3906. Has a 2014 traxxas esc with Dean's connect. That I have yo soder but ya titan 550 motors. All tires Sand tires and mulcher. Can't wait should be running tonight

Hey, cool video, you may have already answered this question. When you went to the new reciever/ transmitter, how did you make the shifter work? Did you just plug the shift servo into channel 3 and use the parking brake switch on the tqi transmitter?

For maybe 5 minutes lol; stock parts would NOT last or handle the torque/power.

Where did you get the plate for the twin 775 motors
It came stock on the truck.
Mine had 550 motors stock
U should put 2 Titian 775 please

Do it. I have prob 1500 to 2k in mine, and it runs great. I have the E Maxx i bought back in '03, and the newer Maxx; both on lipos, but the Maxx is so much faster, of course.
Which batteries were you using to run the Emaxx? Nimh? Lipo?

@@GoFastRC Nice! Mine still has the original Novak EVX. The fact that it cannot run on lipos is annoying! And an EVX2 is soooo expensive! Probably going to change it for a Hobbywing Quicrun 880.
@@daacsb09 Mine is running on lipos; you have to upgrade the plugs on the speed controller to except the lipos, but that is simple. You'll need to upgrade just about all of the running parts, but its a blast to drive on lipos once you get to that "stage" of build. And i stayed with stock ESC and motors.

No not really, that’s why this truck is more of a shelf queen 😂😂
You can google, traxxas E Maxx upgrades, and find some really good helps on replacement/upgrade parts; thats what i did with mine over the years; i have so many upgrades on mine, I'd never get back what ive put in it. I've stayed with the stock ESC and motors, but it still runs amazing.

What is wrong with integy?
Integy makes all of thier stuff with cast aluminum. Cast aluminum is much weaker than machined. Their aluminum is not good quality.
Absolutely nothing wrong with integy, been using them for years and never had a problem, they have not cast aluminum for over 10 years
