After this video you made a day after he came out of international retirement, I hope people start putting more respect on Toni Kroos' name. A treble winner with Bayern Munich, 5 time champions league winner, has won the champions league 4 times at Real Madrid, won the World Cup with Germany, won everything there is to win at club level and a World Cup winner had played a key role in every single one of those triumphs, being such a consistent player, showing his value to the team, yet despite all of his achievements, I've been saying this for months, it baffles me that Toni Kroos is only known for being a "back pass" merchant and always playing sideways passes. Without being skillful or flashy, the intelligence, being able to always make the right decision and play incredible passes and do it with consistency, he makes the game look too easy and it's true that it doesn't always reflect on the stat sheet watching him you see how good he is and he does it at such a high level on the biggest stages of football and has done this for years. The composure, footballing IQ, his brain, passing etc are things that he excels at and it doesn't get enough praise because it's not as flashy or attractive to the normal viewers.
Given his accolades consistency longevity and how he has been in his prime throughout his career, I think it's time to put him in the greatest midfielder of all time conversation along with the likes of Luka Modric Zinedine Zidane Andres Iniesta and Xavi even if his playing style isn't as flashy as the names I mentioned. In his peak, he was one of the best midfielders in the world, very successful at Bayern Munich, won the World Cup with Germany producing during the tournament who can forget his performance against Brazil in the semifinals where they won 7-1, got 2 goals and an assist, and at Real Madrid, he's been a key member during their champions league success especially when they won the 3peat as at the time he had the best seasons of his career statistical wise. The season before he went to Madrid, they won the UCL, but what makes Toni Kroos' role in Real Madrid's European success significant is they won 4 champions league titles with him leading their midfield and prior to that even with the plethora of talent they had, their best ever teams on paper didn't win the champions league and he was a game changing signing. Even after all of this, nobody puts respect on his name, and when we talk about why Real Madrid have won the most champions league titles out of any team since 2014 with 5, we all bring up Cristiano Ronaldo Karim Benzema Luka Modric Gareth Bale Sergio Ramos and even Marcelo and a guy who has an insane passing percentage and the most passes completed in the final third, he always started their attack and everything in possession goes through him. Similar to Barcelona's midfield trio of Xavi Iniesta and Busquets, Kroos Modric and Casemiro, it was a foundation for Real Madrid controlling games in Europe a combination of balance, playmaking, technique and skills meant that their midfield regardless of who they were playing against were able to break down opponents in so many different ways. He's been overshadowed by the attacking talent they've had, he's remained a pivotal player for Real Madrid especially at the age of 34 despite having CMs like Jude Bellingham Eduardo Camavinga Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde as they're making a mark for this team in the present and future, with Kroos still playing and producing, he's irreplaceable in his own way. Guys like Xavi Iniesta Gerrard Scholes Lampard Zidane etc were all legendary midfielders, unbelievable players, but were never able to sustain a high level of play in their 30s, but Kroos on the other hand has aged like fine wine mainly because of his playing style and elegance similar to Modric as well even though both players are different. Bayern Munich really said that he wasn't a world class midfielder, in 2024, Toni Kroos has won everything there is to win at the highest level of club football and he'll go down as one of the best midfielders of his generation, so underappreciated and misunderstood, and once he retires, people will probably start appreciating him more.

Agree with all you said till you only mentioned midfielders of the recent era's.
Still agree with the rest, but football history goes beyond the last 2 era's and there are multiple midfielders that surely could be put as high or higher on the list than the names mentioned.
However you did mention Scholes, probably with Seedorf the two most underrated midfielders of the past 2 decades who I'd put both most players you listed.
Also Scholes played till a high level to the age of 36 and came back out of retirement at the age of 40 for half a year to entirely turn a failing United team who just acquired van Persie around.
I also think most players you mentioned kept up a consistent high level at even older ages. Gerrard, Xavi and Lampard were slightly falling off but the others at 34?

If you understand the game and see the play you can higly regard Kroos as one of the best pure center midfielder in history of game.
Consistency of his passing accuracy, holding the ball, dictating tempo of the game, changing side of play with long balls, free kicks, and corneres even his defending is great. Having player that can easily dictate whole game while you know ball is safe is one of the best thing to have as a manager. Not to mention he is a gentleman, he is polite, he doesnt mind sneaking his mind even tho he does it rarely and his sportsmanship is top notch.
Kroos, Modrić and Casemiro are best midfielder trio in history. Casemiro holding defender that knows how to foul, brake the tempo of the opposition and take back the ball. Kroos that can control and dictate whole game singlehandedly with amazing passing game and vision. Modrić that with his individual talent, creativity and technical ability can both brake the lines and find the right players to finish the action. All three also have amazing shooting ability from long range.
And what is diffrnece between Modrić and Kroos? Even tho they have similar postion. You can clearly see in Madrid play. When Kroos is alone, Madrid is more calm and pressure the opponents with possesion and control. With Modrić alone, Madrid is more direct. Attacking straightforward and taking more risks. The nunbers show it.
Both Kroos and Modrić deserve to be appricated more and regarded as legends in their postion with one of the best in the history. From the trophy cabinet, longevity in the game, Consistency and performance in both clubs and national teams. Sadly for Modric he is Croatian so he will not be regarded as such, and Kroos is timid with his behaviour and simply don't care enough.
To conclude whole video, we should be grateful to see these players play the game and witnesses this amazing achievement they did. This are generational players. They made history for both clubs and coutnry. And only high football fans that enjoy the game for what it is, will understand this players and players like Pirlo, Xabi Alonso and Makelele brought to the game. These players are also rarely spoken about... you know just xavi, iniesta and the academy award one.

    • @ivanrado3430
      @ivanrado3430 หลายเดือนก่อน

@donleno2018 from last 10 seasons, so since 2013/14 to 2023/24, Madrid won 5 UCLS. So last 10, madird won 5. Out of that, 5 three were in a row. Which was never done in the history of UCL format.
Or the last 10 seasons, they won 23 trophies.. 23... that is 2 trophies a season. Still not the best?
In Germany, in 2014, Kroos won the World Cup.
With Croatia Modrić have silver and bronze medals with CROATIA and Silver in Nations League. Casemrio won Copa America in 2019 and runners up in 2021.
That's just trophies. They have been dominating football for the last 10 seaons. And you are saying they aren't even best in La Liga... why? Because they won it three times? Yes, sure, La Liga is much harder than UCL. Spanish teams have it easy. And then you have Negreira case. Just this season, look game against Sevilla in October 2023 or against Valencia in March 2024. Just look at the refs being amazing at their job. Culture in Spain is that it is okay to rob Real madrid and then accuse them of being corrupted.
Or are you saying Iniesta, Xavi, and Bosquets are better? With the Negreira case and what we saw in Semi-Finals 2009 against Chelsea... Yeah. No. Hardly. Iniesta is one year older than Modrić and he hasn't been playing high-level football for the past 6 years. Xavi spent his 35 to 39 in Qatar, while modric, who will be 39 this year, is still playing on the highest level in Madrid. And these three Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets are Spanish. Played in Spain for Spanish National. They never had problems with adjusting to culture, league, language, or having to change styles coming to the national squad. At for the whole carrer they spent in Barcelona.. one club. So they are hardly second. There were amazing Midfield groups like Milan 2006/07 with Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, and Kaka. Man Uniteds, Scholes, Giggs, and Carrick/Beckham.
Modrić, Kroos and Casemiro showed the world on both Club and National Level that they are legends of the game. In Club level, National level. Modric even won FIFA Best Player of the Year and Ballon Dor. And to say that they aren't even best in La liga is deliberately being a moron. I hope you stop watching football with that kind of opinions and go watch curling.

It's crazy how quick football moves and in the summer of 2014, Real Madrid made 2 significant transfers after the World Cup.. What makes Toni Kroos' greatness special is that in that same summer, they paid a lot of money for James Rodriguez and Kroos cost Madrid only 25 million which is seen as a bargain considering the landscape of modern day football with how inflated transfer prices are nowadays as you see teams like Chelsea paying 100 million for potential on Enzo and Caicedo. The summer of 2014, all the attention was on James Rodriguez because of the price tag and the way he took the World Cup by storm and he was the top scorer in the tournament, carried Colombia to the quarterfinals, and a lot of people went to his Bernabeu presentation while not a lot of fans went to Kroos' and even though Toni Kroos was already an excellent midfielder and helped Germany win the World Cup, his transfer to Real Madrid went under the radar with Rodriguez getting all the headlines.
Fast forward a decade later in 2024, both have them have endured opposite directions in their career paths. Toni Kroos has enjoyed 10 successful seasons at Real Madrid, contributing to a lot of trophies, including 4 champions league titles and regardless of who the manager was, he was a pivotal player to the way the team played, he was the heartbeat of the team and is now one of the best midfielders of his generation. At the age of 34, he's still producing the goods and as we speak, yesterday, he came out of international retirement with Germany which is a testament to his longevity, and not bad for a guy who wasn't seen as a world class midfielder according to Bayern Munich. James Rodriguez on the other hand, endured a mixed tenure at Real Madrid where Zidane hardly even played him, and he has been unable to truly settle at a club, different managers don't trust him, has been plagued with injuries and the guy hasn't been able to resurrect his career ever since, he's had a couple of contracts terminated, couldn't adapt to the changing dynamics of modern football especially with how the number 10 role (traditional playmaker) position evolved and how teams rely on box to box midfielders, CDMs, central midfielders more than natural playmakers and at the age of 32, he's playing his football in the Brazilian league and he's a long way away from getting back to the level that made him one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, meanwhile Kroos is still playing for Real Madrid and at his age shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Crazy stuff right and I didn't notice that until I saw it in a video and a great example on how transfer fees aren't the driving force to how successful a player's career is.

I will always say: Toni Kroos for me is the greatest midfielder of all time. I've never seen a player make football so simple as he does. I am a Madrid fan. And watching him play week in and out for so long, it made me appreciate the uniqueness of his skills. If a machine was to create a midfielder, Toni Kroos would be the result👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾...his profile in football is so rare. The closest player I can relate to his style is Josua Kimmich under HANSI.

He kinda does some simple things in a way that others cannot..he finds the wingers with ease..flows the game to his liking..modric and casemiro can be replaced but not kroos.that level of footballing iq doesn't come just like that..real can find good dribbler like modric or good tackling player like case but Replacing kroos gonna take ages ..Same as scholes those orchestretor are so hard to replace..they run the game behind the scenes...

The one thing you didnt mention is his defensive work, in the kcm era, even though casemiro was the main disruptor, he was most effective in the double pivot with kroos. Rarely a misstep, he marshalls that barrier in front of defense and has a high interception rate without being the fastest man on the pitch. Even now at 34, his ability to read the opposition is unreal! So whilst modric is near retirement and us madridstas will give him a beautiful farewell, we aint ready to let go of Toni

In my opinion, he is the best German footballer since 2000.
Neuer, Müller, Lahm, Ballack, Özil, Gündogan, Schweinsteiger, Klose, Kahn were all outstanding players and a case could be made for each of them but considering Kroos’ titles and him being a vital part in all those title winning teams (except for the 2013 triple Bayern as you mentioned because of his injury) gives him the upper hand in my personal ranking.

To speak of “no skills” with Toni is very far-fetched. His ball handling is at a top level. And if we're talking about game overview and understanding of the game, only a few like Xavi or Alonso have reached his level.
You also say the latter in the video. You're just wrong to reduce “skills” to dribbling alone. Outplaying opponents in such a way that a “WOW” echoes through the rows in the stadium is not the only and certainly not the most important skill in football.

Now under Julian Nagelsmann Kroos finally gets the attention he deserves. His return to the German team got a huge hype since Nagelsmann is basically building the whole strategy of his team around Kroos. Thats because he is such a strategic master mind and calm no matter what the situation is. Basically everyone in Germany knows that now.

good video.. but saying Kroos is a bad or average dribbler or has no skill is badly worded. He is an amazing dribbler he just is not as flashy as players like Vini, Leao or Rodrygo is. But his ball control is second to none. His ability to find the right dribbling when he is under pressure is perfect. Only one who can compare on this position I can remember is Andrea Pirlo (Busquets sometimes but he also did some huge fails where he lost the ball because he tried too much).

You should've replaced the word "skill" with "dribbling", as in you're referring only to his lack of flair dribble whereas SKILL encompasses so many more aspects of the game. Shooting is a skill, ball handling is a skill, set piece taking is a skill, tackling is a skill. Honestly, I think you did it for the clicks, but it was such a miss-use that the title could be considered almost a shameful click bait. Other than that, great analysis, just use the right wording next time.
