can't believe you instruct viewers to peel the wire in half instead of just sending / advising the proper gauge

I originally did that because it’s usually easier for people with little soldering experience to handle the larger gauge. I do send smaller gauge now.

I wonder if one of the Beier multiswitches could be added this way, feed the wires back up through the old pot hole.

Instead of disconnecting old potentiometer could you just solder to it? I understand it would leave an option for top knob to be moved and that would potentially get you odd center from middle of the newly added potentiometer

That will probably work. You would just need to turn the pot you’re not using all the way to zero. I have a radio half done here. I’ll try to do it this weekend and post a video.

@@koolthingrc1644 you are awesome for doing this. Don't love any current transmitters. My issue with gt5 was placement of the dial. This totally solves that issue. Not having a gt5 I was searching to see if anyone has a tare down to see if relocation was possible. Didn't expect to stumble onto your videos with a full blown guide. Of course now all the stock scx24 axles are backordered haha

So after some brainstorming I’m a bit reluctant to try to add the second pot to the original. It might work or be made to work but… when you add the second pot in parallel to the first, the total resistance across it will be approximately cut in half. That might be enough to fry the IC.

The only reason I’m doing this is because no manufacturer could be bothered to do it so far and to show how easily it could be done if they wanted to.

@@koolthingrc1644 there is one the radiolink..... but it's huge and looks like it's from the 80s
