I think Scott's singing reflects he's feeling the emotion of the lyrics and just lets go. We know his technical abilities are fantastic but seeing him just belt out the notes he's FEELING just made it raw and haunting and gorgeous. I love Mario's rasp and power. All the feels with this duo
"That was the highlight of my year" Couldn't have said it better myself. This is my absolute FAVORITE singing video on TH-cam, not to mention my favorite singing video of Scott. Period. Scott just completely let go and burst like you said. SOOOO amazing
This is SO PLEASING to the ears...might I add that I LOVED it more than the Amazing original?..Scott Hoying has SO MUCH PASSION when he sings. Mario is SUPER TALENTED..AMAZING👏👏👏👏👏
I found it very interesting to listen to the original of this song by "LP" and see how Scott and Mario changed the tempo to make it match Hans Simmer's piece. It is the same song but so totally different in the way it is done with so much emotion. Pure genius on the part of Scott and Mario. But what else could you expect? Personally I like this version way better than the original.
Damn that last growling Lost on you from Scott.. yeah, I want to hear more of that. ANd love this. love -- love this -- thanks for another great reaction!
I love your love of Scotts voice. 😄. One of my absolute favs for his voice! I love we get both the soft & the power. Also love how Scott can literally sing w anyone & his voice is unique but compliments the others as well. TBH I wish Scott & Mitch would do more power ballads like this together as they would kill them, but love Mario as well. I think you should react to the Empire Medley on Superfruit, I've never understood why it has way less views than their other music vids cause their voices on it - wow! Also Superfruit Rise (which others have suggested, is stunning. Be sure to read the description if u do that one. That song is personal to all the performers so the emotion is 👌🏻).
Yesssss!!! Pretty much exactly the result I anticipated of you guys experiencing this song. The triple threat of Scott Hoying, Mario Jose and Hans Zimmer is just emotional manslaughter. But it's so divine. I binge listened to this song for quite a while.. enjoy your binge Ali. You must also experience Superfruit with Mario Jose, Brian Justin Crum and Mary Lambert doing cover of "Rise". It is magnificent. Thank you guys for being awesome.
Also Mario has some of his own music and many covers he's been in as well. I'm sure most of the PTX fandom would like reactions to those as he's been a long time friend, & worked for them touring for a while.
I can never get enough of this cover. Simply amazing! I loved the looks on your faces throughout - a mix of disbelief and "boy what are you doing to my heart?!" ❤️❤️
Yep. I knew you'd like it. It's just about my favorite song too. The sheer genius of putting this song on top of Zimmer's orchestration blows me away. I think Scott must've been the one who noticed how perfectly the soundtrack echoes the song and put them together. And the emotion in the performance is incredible!
I am so glad you guys are doing music reactions now as well.there is so much great stuff out there that needs to be heard...love you guys.your doing a great job
"Blowin' in the Wind", a great 60's song done beautifully by Scott, Mario, and Julia Harriman. Great message, great vocals, great song. Check it out...
I just love that genuine reaction the guy on the left had.. he started rocking back and forth and as the song went on he just went silent and serious...
Thank you. I was WAITING for you guys to watch this. It's not just the beauty of the singing, the emotion, it was the 'mash up' (Off camera, listen to the original 'lost on you' song, it's a whole different experience'. I have no idea how people can listen to, say, Hans Zimmer's music from Inception and Lost on You and go, 'I can put that together and make it SO much better." Shows Scott's skills as an arranger. Mario Jose started out, if I recall, doing SOUNDCHECKS for Pentatonix, among many other things. And now, this, and he's performed on 'Postmodern Jukebox' (something else you should check into) I'll add in a pitch for 'Rise'.
Karen Brown PTX also surprised Mario by telling him right before they were due on stage at a concert that HE was opening for THEM! He was all busy with getting everything ready for their entrance, so was backstage right by the edge of the curtain after having walked them up. The look on his face! And they told him that they'd flown his parents in and they were in the audience. He was all "no way?!" "For real?.!" and the news about his parents being there for his first appearance in concert before thousands of very supportive Pentaholics (bless all their hearts 💕!) that cheered him on! We love Mario!
To truly appreciate the GENIUS of this song you really need to listen to the original version by LP first. The song is good but has a very rock-a-billy vibe to it...but whomever thought to slow the song down and overlay with a Hans Zimmer track deserves ALL the pie.
David Nunya, Mario said Scott called him up on a Sunday (I think I recall) and said something like, “Let’s do this today.” I don’t know how long ahead of time Scott did the actual arranging...
So, i woke up a little early today and decided to listen to some good music rigt in bed) I turned on Avi and Sequoias and now i watching you guys. Third video and you've made my day. Seriously. I'll explain) I feel this. Really. I feel so much. I feel joy listenning to good music. I see artists you listen to. I see you. All unique, all feel the same way. And... It's so great... really. No words for this emotions, is it?) I love you two. And what inspire me the most: i see(feel) connection... Vanya Russia
This is EPIC and the mash up is on point!, so glad you guys reacted to it. I actually held off watching it for a while as I wasn't familiar with LP's song, so glad I finally watched. Scott is one of the most passionate singers around. The boy got SOUL!!! I'm only mentioning this because I previous reaction but I can't find a "Clean" (ie non-fan recorded version) on TH-cam, however, on the PTX documentary Pentatonix surprise Mario, who was part of their crew and obviously good friend (yes, he was in Stranger Things by SuperFruit), with the chance to open for them in Boston and what is featured is Mario singing "Hallelujah" and it's magical. Not a reaction request, just check it out, seriously - check out the Documentary - it's on Netflix (but I always recommend to buy it on iTunes to support the band, if it works for you). :-)
Couple of good collaborations with Mario Jose in them is, Have You Ever (Brandy cover), Mario Jose, Matt Bloyd, and Vincint Cannady and One Last Time (Arianna), Mario Jose, Vincint Cannady and Aaron Encinas both are amazing covers. The last song was put together by Kurt Hugo Schneider, his channel has is one of the best for young singers starting out as well as ones who are better known. A lot of good music, check him out for your pleasure.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! I love your channel and how you both appreciate all of PTX's members! Would you please react to "Scott Housing Georgia On My Mind" and make sure to click on the video with him at the piano. It's recorded from when he was 14 and I think you'd truly enjoy seeing how food he was at such a young age!
You should watch the original artist LP's live version of this. Her voice is absolutely unique and so stunning. Scott is a genius thinking to overlay her song with Hans Zimmer's Inception soundtrack. It's so brilliant.
But you *were* showing emotions throughout your reaction 😊 Loved this! Loved seeing you both be amazed by it 😅 It definitely is a fantastic piece! Scott sings with so much passion and emotion, he never fails to capture our admiration for him😍! And Mario's tone is quite unique and very pleasing to the ear.❤ You will like Rise by Superfruit featuring Mario, Brian and Mary. A very powerful performance for an important issue. I also highly recommend Scott's cover of Creep, he goes OFF in it, much like this.. It features Caitlin Notey, who is fantastic in it as well. And Scott's I should tell ya momma on you. All a must watch, please 😁 Love ya'll.! Have a lovely day
"But you were showing emotions throughout your reaction 😊" Agree!! I loved watching his stunned admiration throughout and amazement at those emotional peaks... it perfectly reflected my feelings too! Great reaction. 💕
I know I'm late to the party but you guys are terrific reactors. This is because you are enthusiastic which is what these two deserve. For me you guys are PENTAHOLICS. PTX all day.🤜💥🤛
Two of PTX earlier covers that I recently rewatched after 6 years? Are "no" -and "problem" so much fun to watch and listen to. Just never gets stale. I think you will enjoy them
You asked for more gems you wouldn't find yourselves: Have You Ever? - Brandy cover by Matt Bloyd, Mario Jose, and Vincint Cannady. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Truly stunning and worthy of your time and your reactions.
Maaaaaan I love your reaction! I can't wait to see you react to Pentatonix - "Cracked" live on the Honda Stage at iHeartRadio to see Scott's go all Soul Man on us! :D
Great reaction, I'm so glad you loved it! The harmony among PTX is beautiful and amazing, but it sometimes seemed that Scott was holding back. On a few of The Sing-Off performances, he lets it rip (for example, #7, & #10), but Mario's voice is so strong that Scott can sing as hard as he wants and not overpower him.
Hahahha I knew he would be blown away as soon as I saw the video link.😃😃 You should listen to Pentatonix original son called "Sing" all Pentatonix recognise it as on of the best😉😁😁😁✌
Towards the end of this song No matter how many times I hear it. From them I find myself breathing again. I constantly hold my breath to the whole thing.
This video never fails to amaze me. It's so beautiful to but into words. By the way Superfruit released a music video today but maybe react to the first one "How You Feeling?" and then the new one. It made me have mix emotions 😭😍😂
To add to your future playlist - "Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Rozzi Crane & Cary Singer Stay With Me", and I don't think you reacted to this yet, but maybe you have, "Avi Kaplan and Peter Hollens Black is the Color". Thanks!
Couldn't agree more. Straight/gay/or Bi, this was a freaking love ballad sung between two between two people just FEEDING off of the emotion of the song and duet, and I couldn't be more impressed by that. :)
You need to react to Superfruit's cover of 'Rise'....they recorded it with three other LGBTQ artists: Brian Justin Crum (who came in third on 'America's Got Talent' 2016); Mario Jose and Mary Lambert. They recorded it in reaction to the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in 2016. The video made me CRY.
After being stunned by "Lost on You", I think you would really enjoy Mario Jose, singing "Georgia on my Mind" for the Loft Sessions. I loved it. It is a freshly arranged song written in 1930 being performed by Mario as lead vocalist, backed up by two choir groups and an orchestra. It is filmed by seven or eight videographers. The Loft Sessions put out about 4 of these masterpieces per year using the time and talents of volunteer musicians of all ages. I hope you look into it. If someone has already let you know about it please forgive the repeat. I did not read the comment section. I would also like to recommend that you take a look at Daniel de Bourg's cover of "Lost" by Frank Ocean. He sings all parts himself with a bass track. The song is a little raunchy, but there is something sexy and sweet about his version. He also makes me laugh on a cover of "Blurred Lines". Daniel is an English dancer who performs in productions in the West End. He started singing as an adult and now has his own TH-cam channel. One more you might enjoy-- Todrick Hall, who is also from Arlington, TX like Kirstie, Mitch and Scott, and who is a great friend of theirs did a spoof of Pentatonix Daft Punk video called Pentatodrix. Very funny. He also wrote and produced "The Wizard of Ahhs", a six minute retelling in modern song shorts of the "Wizard of Oz". It stars Pentatonix. Kirstie majored in Musical Theater in college. In this she plays Dorothy, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Good Witch Glynda. Very fun! Love most things by Todrick. Arlington put forth a bumper crop of Artists that year.
yeah, Scott does not hold back in this video - he & Mario sound amazing together. now you need to see Superfruit's cover of Rise, if you haven't yet - Mario's also featured, as well as Mary Lambert & Brian Justin Crum. it's another very intense & emotional performance, since they released it right after the Pulse nightclub massacre & dedicated it to the LGBTQ+ community (make sure to read their message in the description box).
As per usual... great reaction guys. If you want something different but amazing here are a few vids to check out. I implore you to watch them all but I understand time is precious. Celtic Woman: (Anything early) but in particular Non ce pieu, the voice, Last rose, or pie Jesu Ella Henderson: Audition and on... *** Baz Luhrmannn "Trust me on the sunscreen" (life changing) & just for fun Stevie Starr America's got talent audition and on. As always keep on keeping on my friends. J.
Scott and Mario both have such passion in this song! Scott especially catches my eye. He's so breathtaking.
Guy on the left, you mirror my reaction to this beautiful music. I'm dumbfounded by the sounds. The beauty, the perfection of this.. I don't even...
Man.... everything Scott touches turns to gold💕
I think Scott's singing reflects he's feeling the emotion of the lyrics and just lets go. We know his technical abilities are fantastic but seeing him just belt out the notes he's FEELING just made it raw and haunting and gorgeous. I love Mario's rasp and power. All the feels with this duo
i literally get speechless every fucking time i listen to this song! scotts rasp and marios voice and UGHHH god i get overwhelmed every time!
"that was the highlight of my year" oh my god ME
guys your faces are everything. all the feels
"That was the highlight of my year" Couldn't have said it better myself. This is my absolute FAVORITE singing video on TH-cam, not to mention my favorite singing video of Scott. Period. Scott just completely let go and burst like you said. SOOOO amazing
The amazing thing Scott did was he took Hans music to an artist name LP song an arranged this he's a genius in arranging songs .
This is SO PLEASING to the ears...might I add that I LOVED it more than the Amazing original?..Scott Hoying has SO MUCH PASSION when he sings. Mario is SUPER TALENTED..AMAZING👏👏👏👏👏

"that was the highlight of my year" EXACTLY ME WHEN THIS COVER CAME OUT
"That was the highlight of me year" I love you guys... really!!! And yes, every time I watch this vid, I'm completely blown away!
Still watch this reaction from time to time. It’s still just as satisfying as the first time! Love u guys!
I love your love of Scotts voice. 😄. One of my absolute favs for his voice! I love we get both the soft & the power. Also love how Scott can literally sing w anyone & his voice is unique but compliments the others as well. Also Superfruit Rise (which others have suggested, is stunning. Be sure to read the description if u do that one. That song is personal to all the performers so the emotion is 👌🏻).
The hell kind of next level musical genius does it take to figure out these two very different things work together??
"That was the highlight of my year"....my sentiments exactly!
I was sobbing before the first few notes. My GOD this is so stunning.
I keep coming back and watching this reaction every now and then lol. I'm SO GLAD to see you guys loved it just as much as I did 😍
Scott Hoying, besides being a world-class vocalist is a freaking genius at arrangments, GENIUS
YESSSS. One of my absolute favorite covers by our beloved Mario and Scott So powerful. I agree with your every word, thanks guys!
Told you! :) This made me so very happy.
Also Mario has some of his own music and many covers he's been in as well. I'm sure most of the PTX fandom would like reactions to those as he's been a long time friend, & worked for them touring for a while.
Incredible
I was waiting for this! It's phenomenal.
How the hell did I miss this for four days?? Lol This is my favourite Scott solo project. He goes so deep vocally... goosebumps every time.
I can never get enough of this cover. Simply amazing!
I loved the looks on your faces throughout - a mix of disbelief and "boy what are you doing to my heart?!" ❤️❤️
You guys are great, I love your reactions. I love the empty inside part, that cracked me up.
Yep. I knew you'd like it. It's just about my favorite song too. The sheer genius of putting this song on top of Zimmer's orchestration blows me away. I think Scott must've been the one who noticed how perfectly the soundtrack echoes the song and put them together. And the emotion in the performance is incredible!
You guys are so nice to watch! And by the way, you did show emotion while you watched! We know you both well enough by now to read your faces
I appreciate that you love every video you play!! I love that video with Mario & Scott too!! It's amazing!!
"This is the highlight of my year"...again and again!
I am so glad you guys are doing music reactions now as well.there is so much great stuff out there that needs to be heard...love you guys.your doing a great job
Never seen this one before. It was brilliant.
"Blowin' in the Wind", a great 60's song done beautifully by Scott, Mario, and Julia Harriman. Great message, great vocals, great song. Check it out...
Michael Dougherty AGREED! So great. Such a beautiful and powerful arrangement.
I just love that genuine reaction the guy on the left had.. he started rocking back and forth and as the song went on he just went silent and serious...
"That was the highlight of my year"hahaha I love your reactions!!! Such an amazing cover by both Scott and Mario
Awww...your reactions! So fantastic! This made my whole day!
I agree, they're both so amazing and unbelievable incredible and talented!!! Thanks for reacting, great video guys!
This cover is one of my faves, it's so good
Thank you. I was WAITING for you guys to watch this. It's not just the beauty of the singing, the emotion, it was the 'mash up' (Off camera, listen to the original 'lost on you' song, it's a whole different experience'. That would be the one-and-only Scott Hoying.
All of one pie...or all the pies in the universe?. I vote for the second option!!
David Nunya, Mario said Scott called him up on a Sunday (I think I recall) and said something like, “Let’s do this today.” I don’t know how long ahead of time Scott did the actual arranging...
It was Scot himself who did the arrangement. Just proves what a genius he is
And the emotions and facial reactions are priceless love you guys
Scott. Is always so giving. Just discovered Mario, already in love.
Yes, is epic. I love ur reactions. This one of my favorite's cover and Scott blew my mind. See you in another reaction. Bye. 😘
Absolutely incredible and transporting to another place called "allville". I loved it!
Scott hoying blowing in the wind is a good one as well

There's another great video of Scott, Mario and a girl(so sorry can't remember her name) covering Blowing in the Wind. It's amazing!
They are super!
Super Scott and... super Mario !
I love your reviews you are spot on . This is my new favorite channel
I would definitely suggest RISE as well as Happy Little Pill. Love your reactions guys!!

Wonderful
Two of PTX earlier covers that I recently rewatched after 6 years? Are "no" -and "problem" so much fun to watch and listen to. Just never gets stale. I think you will enjoy them
It was raw emotion coming through in this song.
This is amazing! I cried! I love Scott being a bit forceful well I love him anyway
