His use of samples are incredible throughout the whole soundtrack. Really compliments his style of composition no matter what genre/style he's going for, where usually sampled material would either stick out like a sore thumb or get completely lost in the mix. Survival on The Street of Insincerity with that saxophone solo sample (unfortunately yet to be found and forgotten by Ishii himself) for a really good example of what I mean.

This just goes to show that a video doesn't need to have fancy editing to blow my mind. I listened to this album countless times, and learned how to drum by playing this album ripped from a cassette. I definitely had no idea how many samples there were but I love that I picked up on that skill from him too without even realizing it.

I definitely notice Hendrix in a few spots, like Certain Lotus Victory Tune and Soul Police Chapter's Reverse Side Circumstance, but there's also some jazz inspiration in tracks that I should look into as well sometime.

I was under the impression for the longest time that it came from a keyboard, like the JV-2080 or the E-Synth Ultra. Same with the NY Cutz Midnight Assassin sample. The craziest ones to me are still the World's Last Sagacious period, which I thought was sampled from a film soundtrack + synths, and not entirely some DnB album and an experimental electronic album.

    ...
Hearing and then dreadfully recognizing the opening jingle of Pinocchio to The World without Logos made me have a religious Awakening...
Like a pure chilling spine-shake that makes me question, "Why didn't I hear it before...?"
Like HOLY COW! That was nuts to hear! And it was my favorite part of the Pinocchio opening I like the most when I start up the movie. Those little whistle bells and river waves of violins. Bring me back to a comfortable place...

I think that track is more Beatles influenced, actually. It reminds me of Get Back in particular (different key but same kind of Blues chord progression), but also has other Beatles staples like the key change in the chorus, the vocals in the chorus (especially the high part), and the feel in the alternate version of the song.

It'll be fun to find more samples in the soundtrack as time goes on!
For example on off the top of my head is Origin Reflection Rhythm Nation which samples the beat from Brundi Black. It's not a direct sample, but a recreation of the percussion. Other two that come to mind with samples are musical entertainment and musical uneasiness. Both contain some sort of film score sample towards the end of each track but I'm not sure what.
Lastly I think a video talking about all the references to classical music in the soundtrack would be fun. Chopin is reference in at least two tracks and it would be cool to know the others!

    • @guru5862
      @guru5862  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Huh, I had no idea about the Origin Reflection Rhythm Nation sample! I completely forgot about Musical Uneasiness, though I doubt it'll be easy to find.
And for Musical Entertainment, I believe it's a recording by Leopold Stokowski of a classical song that I couldn't find. BUT, I did just find a sample in Secret Karma Serenade... sorta.
      th-cam.com/video/jcFuxKlg_VY/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/pvMfCT4IcLA/w-d-xo.html
It's not the same sample, but it's some kind of interpolation of I. Allegro composed by Antonio Vivaldi (in this case conducted by Leopold Stokowski). It could also be from another suite conducted by Leopold Stokowski, which would match up with the other findings with Stokowski.

@I Know Everything The biggest difference is that I'm the case of the hellsing soundtrack these are samples, small pieces of music that have been taken, rearranged and placed in a new context to create a new piece of music. Not to mention, some of the samples in the hellsing soundtrack are from sample CDs, who's entire point in existing is to be sampled. In the case of DragonBall composer entire compositions were taken and reused with little no changes outside of the arrangement. This leans more towards plagiarism. Reusing musical phrases and recordings in itself is not a bad thing, how you go about it and your intentions play a big part. It's a complex topic that can't quite be explained just inside a TH-cam comment.

The unfocused mess of a story, the constant retcons (the Hellsing org is super capable but gets slaughtered after two EPs) and plotholes (guns just don't do shit after the second episode or so), the lack of good characters (Seras character and her grounded angle on everything are way better in the original) and the ridiculous power creep. The random convoluted asspullery in the last episodes. Also the animation that really didn't held up. It's just flashy filters over mostly static slideshow animation (Luke Valentine slices up Hellsing soldiers off screen while a light flashes looks like a straight up parody of lazy anime animtion cliche's f.e.). The lack of continuity and use of space in animation (people move off screen constantly). The original has a lot more charme and is entirely superior.
