We hope you enjoy our September 2020 release - 'Brandy'. For this month’s MMM we dusted off the 1972 classic from Looking Glass, Brandy (You're A Fine Girl). What a fun song! My Dad, may he rest, produced the original with Eliot Lurie's band, fought with him on how the song should sound, and worked tirelessly on recording it so it sounded perfect. Hearing this cover sent chills through me, and I know Dad would have loved this legacy he left behind was treated with the same love and passion he treated the song. Being his son, you guys get two thumbs up from me!

WOW! Your dad worked with Looking Glass! My cousin and I walked around singing this song all summer of 1972. I just love how the original singer just sang it with his heart not over reacting and not dramatizing. He simply is himself. That is so hot and sexy! The perfect man!

As a 64-year-old American guy, this song echoes in the canyons of my mind. The audio quality on this cover/remake is superb. Clean as can be and quite perfectly balanced. You folks are good.

I was blessed enough to meet Todd Park Mohr and the rest of the band about a year and a half ago in Waikiki. And I can tell you that he is as gentle in his personality as he is in his singing style.. Sweet and calm.. He was so gracious and polite. Not a rock star but a Human star.. Thanks Todd.. For giving me life long memories..

They played this song when we saw them last week (8/2/23) in Albuquerque. We were all singing along. These guys are outstanding and are SO good in concert.
W O W ! This is the most fantastic cover I have ever heard. The horns are just Fabulous. The back-up singers are absolutely 100% extraordinary. The keyboard is mystical and beautiful. The drums are perfect. Todd's singing voice has a unique feeling that brings ''Brandy'' and the noble Sailor back to life in our hearts.

Wow! Todd sounds a lot like the original singer of this song. I wonder if this was _his_ idea, or if someone told him he sounds, 'just like that guy in Looking Glass.'
Todd's delivery in the verses is a bit more "on top" of the beat and pushes the song along, but tonally he's an uncanny doppelgänger.

That guy from Looking Glass is Elliot Lurie, one of the most under rated singer/song writers.
I suggested it to him over 25 years ago and he said I was not the first.

Nailed it! The addition of the female voices was a genius move -- just enough to make it your own but not so much that it is pulled away from the perfection of its original character. This song is a classic among classics.

WOW !!! This is NO Cover -- it is a TRIBUTE to the original !!! The lyrics were always there - but something was missing. The horn section & back - up singers fill out the song PERFECTLY !!! I now have TWO versions of one of my favorite one - hit wonder songs.

I am not a fan of re-makes and especially a song that was my favorite as a teenager, but this is the best re-make I think I have ever heard. This is definitely one of the most under rated bands of all time.

I rarely like the newer version of old songs but this one is different. Really good sound. As a bass player, I can say the bass track is absolutely great.

These guys are KILLING this tune. First saw Big Head Todd in Boulder, Co 1991 in a local bar. So good then and now.
My sister went to high school with them at Columbine. Bryan gave her a cassette tape of their music.
Later, when I was in school at CU Boulder, I went to a party on The Hill and Todd was playing live music in the living room. I’ll never forget it. They are such a great band.

As a Merchant Navy Man i can relate to being in port the first pub up the road always hard to get past and we all kept and eye out for a pretty girl! I found a good wife so eventually came ashore but still went back to sea in later life. A sailors first love is his ship hence they are called "she" and for numerous other reasons! A great life now all gone with the life at sea not what it was, a very risky job made worse with pirates and attacks by random idiots with powerful weapons. 95% of all trade is still carried in ships bottoms but the crews are not given much thought or credit by those ashore the recent Covid outbreak made it even tougher with crews unable to exchange for months despite governments calling for easy passage to get home or return for further sea duty. Love this Song and BHT&TM doing a great cover. Respect to all Seafarers.

Number One on the Billboard charts in 1972...you guys and gals killed it, The lead singers voice is a spot on match. Horn section? Check,..crazy good backup vocal section? Cheçk...old school wurlitzer? Check...conducting a clinic on how real music is made...priceless. "Dancin in the moonlight" is squarely in your wheelhouse.

I just discovered this band. I went all the way back to when Todd had long hair! I love his voice. I'm hooked on a old tune, Bittersweet!! ❤🥰 I have a lot of music by them left to discover.

Very rare is the cover song that I like better than the original. This is one of those times. The original by Looking Glass has been a favorite of mine forever, but I am blown away by how good this is. I have been a Big Head Todd fan for a long time. Perfection.

You know, this is just a 70s commercial yacht rock tune, one among many. But it makes a huge difference to see it performed live by musicians who care about quality. I was really deeply moved by the backup singers and their evident joy and passion. It's really a revelation. Thank you so much!

Who the hell dislikes this? That was an absolutely stellar performance. Todd's voice sounds great and the band is tight as hell as usual. That along with the fantastic backing vocals and the horns... top notch! I'm sure Looking Glass approves of this rendition of their song. I sure as hell enjoyed it immensely.

My nonna (grandma) had a best friend, her name was Rhonda. She passed away before I was born and my nonna said whenever she was with Rhonda she was always listening to this song. And about a week ago we were talking about her, and I was asking my nonna questions about Rhonda. And out of no where this song turned on and my nonna just starts crying and balling and I was shocked.
Love when the drummer goes from a straight shuffle to a syncopated beat in the bridge . This is simply a great song and a great tribute. Thank you!

My wife and I are an acoustic duo in central PA. Last summer we played at a winery and had a request for this song. I felt bad that we couldn't do it, so I went home and learned it. This past weekend we played three shows and did this song at every one. It's a classic. It's my practice to occasionally go back and listen to the original to make sure we're not straying too far from the intent and spirit of the song. I saw this cover and was curious. This is impeccable. The little phrasing nuances of the lead vocal are a delightful twist. Thank you so much for sharing it!

They had another big hit that I love and I believe it had national airplay, but at least in the Denver, CO region....I think the band is from Boulder, CO. Anyway, the song is "Bittersweet"

You never disappoint! I've been in love with Todd Mohr and BHTM since I was introduced to Sister Sweetly in the 90's. I've seen them many times-Toads place in New Haven, Mohegan Sun, and a few years ago at FTC with BHTM Blues Club. They never disappoint! Can't wait until I can hear them live once again, it will be a sweet sound!
So many great memories from Toad's Place. I don't know if it's still there but they used to hang a plaque on the wall in the sound booth dedicated to a friend of mine, "The Duke of Sound". Great, great place.

Ahhh, so nice! I always thought I was alone, discovering Mr Todd Park Mohr. Myself and 2 other weary travelers were, well, traveling thru Eastern Virginia, headed east to the coast. We were in the mountains of central Virginia. Late one nite/early morning. It had to be April or May of 93. Because the album came out in February. We came to a town with no hotels. Annnnnd no place to stay A man gave me and my two fellow travelers a place to rest. An old frat house. That the guy lived in, his parents gave him the house. For just that purpose. A frat house. Literally out of nowhere. I slept on the couch. He put this CD in and said good night. It was on repeat. It was that night, that I was baptized. Into Big Head Todd and the Monsters. I was on my own, giving ALL MY FRIENDS, a dose of them ever since. I'll never forget the first time I heard them.

Saw BHTATMs on a New Years Eve show in downtown Denver over 20 years ago. They played for over 3 hours. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
