***** "The Chainsmokers have become the hottest young American EDM DJ duo." This came straight from their website so yeah they consider themselves as DJs too. You can't just label them as one thing :)
There are 2 parts. There is the song maker - also known as a producer. The other part is a Dj, which is the one on the stage that plays music (doesn't have to be a track he essentially made) and goes smoothly (or not so smooth if you are a beginner/shitty dj). They are both.
@FuzionLLF4 because you sir is the next generation einstein. since they produce edm music generally in music industry they are called DJ. but in straight cut form they are producers who produce their own music and perform these in stage or wherever as DJ. on the other hand there are lots of DJs out there whos just button pusher and plays others music. so you make the comparison and pick whos superior .
Keep messing around with FL studio JTC. It's a lot of fun. I'm new too I just started 4 months ago. At first I was really lost but now I'm somewhat established with my workflow. My tip would be to really try to complete a song. By complete it doesn't have to be long. My first track was only a 1:20 long and it was really bad. But because I thought of it as being complete I was able to move along. Now My track range from 2 to 3 minutes.
Lets all take a moment to thank these guys for doing this, many "famous" producers are afraid of showing us their workflow but you guys aren't and we appreciate that :).
Lol thats so true. Hip hop producers are the worst for it, they'll spend 5 minutes finding their own "signature" 808 sounds with a few native plugins and act like its the backbone of their career, when in reality it's just quite amateur stuff they were too lazy to learn.
It's really nice to see top creatives like yourselves giving back with a tutorial video. I've always loved your music and now respect you more. Keep up the great work.
exact! The "???" is actually the hardest part. The songs are only a small part to achieve such a success and profit. People give their opinion to fast these days, if it all was so easy, then everybody would make profit like this.
Haris Wandy Ten years ago I would've said to become famous you need to be creative and work extremely hard, as they say there is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. However I forget that it's 2016 and becoming famous is as easy as posting a few musicallys and lip syncing in your bathroom
You should just do a "noobs tutorial to ableton." I'm not pro by any means, but I like to see where each professional artists starts with their projects, you feel? Even more experienced artists could learn something or get some strange tips I feel. I don't know, but keep up the good work :)
i taught myself production through youtube tutorials too. im so glad they posted this. inspired me to start making a future bass track with that style lead and sidechain. helped a lot. Do tutorials on the drop from I cant stop drinking about you, the break synth from the wonder remix, kanye drop, the buildup pluck in New York City, and dont let me down
Hardly, anyone makes tutorials on making a synth. BEST TUTORIAL EVER!! Chainsmokers, if you ever read this, I just want to say...make EDM again please!! You're awesome, you can be awesomer
Haha he doesn't understand music theory at all xD However, it just goes to show that you can make amazingly awesome sounds without using "theory" and just using your ear for what sounds good. :D Great song! :)
MrKillius24 Yeah, and even when I started making music I knew next to no theory. Just the part where he was talking about the "bass melody" was really funny to me. xP
Sounds like you only really need two things then: software knowledge and creativity. But music theory helps you compose much faster and you know more of what you're doing when writing a song.
How have I never found these? Video quailty is 9/10! Props to whoever edits and films these. Don't know much about digital music production, but I dig the insight!
Thank you,the Chainsmokers, for making this tutorial...i love ROSES,so,i love this tutorial...and,you can keep making a difference tutorial, like, how's your stage preparation, what's your favourite songs, you favourite drop, strings, and many more.....love you, The Chainsmokers.....
@The Chainsmokers Me and my sister is Fan of you.Your Songs are just like a dope. Everytime we thinking about how you got this cool ideas like drop of Roses and Closer. We loved your Live Performance of Tomorrowland 2015 we are looking for 2016 Tomorrowland.btw we wanna know how u made song first melody or first kicks n all? Love your tutorials man! Im starting my learning from youtube tutorials and whatever i can read on the web now also, so big shout out to you guys for making it possible! keep your music coming
Unreal how he's literally doing tutorials on his music, no.2 on Spotify, imagine if all the world's top artists did this (for me I'd love if filmmakers like christopher Nolan did it)
Love it! It'd be sweet if you'd do a tutorial/share on how you start songs, where they come from, etc.. although I think that's probably what you meant when you said you'd release another tutorial on this whole song
Yooooo you guys are my inspiration!! Thanks so much for this tutorial! Can't wait to see more of these! Also, I love the attitude of teaching and spreading the joy of music. Keep it up you guys! Much love and support~
THAT'S GREAT MAN!! I think you are able to get the best synth sounds of today and was skeptic of finding any tutorials about it, and you actually did it yoursself!! That's awesome man and I like the passion you have when you talk about it. God bless you. BTW, my favorite sound you've ever made is the lead in the Coldplay chorus (something just like this). Its outterspace
I actually like this series really good. I'm happy that a big (and one of my favourite) music creator makes youtube tutorials to not only uncover the techniques that such creators use but also teach new music creators that want to get up and running.
if you guys want more tutorials! just comment and let us know what you want us to show you! thanks for all the kind feedback!
+The Chainsmokers Lets see a don't let me down remix! Great work BTW

+The Chainsmokers what software do you use? Also is there a free software that has those frequencies on it
Sometimes I forget that Dj's are actually huge techies
+FuzionLLF It's because DJ's are not really DJ's, they are producers :)

they produce music and they DJ at shows so they are both
@FuzionLLF4 because you sir is the next generation einstein. since they produce edm music generally in music industry they are called DJ. but in straight cut form they are producers who produce their own music and perform these in stage or wherever as DJ. on the other hand there are lots of DJs out there whos just button pusher and plays others music. so you make the comparison and pick whos superior .

Tom Kark how do you know it's bought and not cracked???
You look at the name the program is registered to. If it's registered to something like "team air" or "team" anything it's probably cracked.
It's been 4 years..
But this song is still my favourite.
I wish Steven Speilberg did tutorials like this

I wish madeon and skrillex did tutorials like this.
You don't usually see producers making TH-cam tutorials like this. Super cool!!
