James has really turned himself around, and I'm so happy - and grateful - to see it. He's a talented guy, and that talent was really struggling to show itself up until the last couple of years. He used to come off as just an angry cop hater, and I had to block his channel from my recommended feed. Now, he's actually providing a quality, professional level public service. And to top it off, he's also acting as a shining example of what real, actual "journalism" is all about. Hopefully other so-called "journalists" take notes.
Wow! This is a huge case of lawlessness of a corrupt justice system and unfortunately, it doesn't just apply to just this Town, City, or State, it's happening throughout the US
Imagine all the Bonds that will have to be paid back, law suits. It appears that the Sherrif committed a couple of Crimes?
Several felonies.....
They really think they don't have to answer to the public at all.
How can those deputies become sworn in after committing felonies daily for 2.5 years? Ignorance is not a defense is it?
Ur tlkin bout America lol Canada has more credit at this point n we ain’t shit
Ignorance of the law is a valid excuse for pigs but it isn't for civilians
@lovemcurvy3126 canada just got its first bodycamas a few months back... the fuck you talking about? Canada is WAY worse.
I'd probably chalk it up to "good faith" since any reasonable person would believe that the black-robed person administering their oath really is a judge in good standing in the state of New Mexico. Honestly, who would even question it? I've taken numerous oaths in my life, and not once have I checked the background of the person administering it. It's a bit unreasonable to expect anyone to do that. Were they technically impersonating police officers? Definitely. But with the information they had available to them, they had no reason to believe that when they were sworn in, it wasn't official. It's not so much a case of ignorance on their part, as it is malfeasance on the part of the people who knew very well he wasn't a judge. That's probably why the officers themselves wouldn't be named in the lawsuit in their individual capacity (as non-officers), or in their professional capacity (since they weren't officers). It's enough that the cases are all being reviewed and people who were falsely arrested are being released.
@@BouillaBased ok try that as a civilian if you were asked by a friend to drive a car with drugs in it but you had no clue but cops found out. Even though you were set up you still going to prison. Foh
If they are not sworn in haven't all of them committed felonies impersonating a law enforcement officer?!
Shouldn't they all be charged with impersonating law enforcement? I'm thinking being found guilty of impersonating law enforcement would preclude all of them from being law enforcement. That's what makes sense to me.
No they shouldn't because they are victims of a fraud like the people they arrested. Is the county going to want all the wages paid returned ?
I'm pretty sure they would have to be knowing their appointment as deputies was illegal and continued to act as deputies, unlike the deputy who sued when he found out.
@@fleebee3639 Yeah, probably. That deputy who forced the fix sounds like he would make a pretty good sheriff.
I seriously doubt any of the deputies knew they were not legally sworn it. I doubt any of them intentionally knew they were impersonating police officers. I'm quessing they were all certified by the state's liscensing board.
Ignorance of the law is a valid excuse for a pig
Wow, the county might as well start filling out the bankruptcy papers, no way they don't pay out millions in lawsuits.
So none of them have qualified immunity? 🤣😮 That's a lot of kidnapping!

In towns like that, they are usually all blood related to a certain degree
Seems like someone needs to be charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment for every single inmate there. Whether or not those people are guilty or not, those pretenders didn't have any authority to act on it.

Good for the people falsely imprisoned, bad for the taxpayers in the county that will have to pay for this huge mistake

Emergency calls go through 911, not the *non Emergency line*
They sound like VIA Metropolitan Transit police which think their non emergency line is actually a 911 line.
I think that depends on location. This sounds like a very small town.
Not in my county. If you call the sheriffs office " after hours" it goes automatically to 911 even though you may call the regular number.
It’s something to think about. If someone is NOT a public official, but rather just pretending to be one, then are they violating civil rights, or are they committing crimes?
How is it that a Judge, can swear his own son in anyways? Is that not a conflict of his position?
So a man makes an arrest and his daddy decides the accused fate? “Yes daddy, I saw him speeding”. “No daddy, it wasn’t on radar, but you know me daddy, you raised me, I would never lie”. GUILTY!!

Class 4 and class 6 felonies depending on the actions taken. Some actions, such as assault and kidnapping, are more severe under the law.
No, this is embarrassing for NM, but nobody is going to jail. Remember America is not a free country, it's a quasi-feudal country, and the Sherriffs are lords and Ladies of the manor/county, so the law is not the same for them, even if they are not properly sworn in.
They were not impersonating but y'all can't see anything beyond 'cop bad me no like cop ' 🎉
Here in Australia, the same thing happened. In the state of Victoria over 1000 police officers for a period of up to 4 years had never become police officers. They misunderstood the law and were never sworn in correctly. During that time, of covid restrictions were in place. They imposed lookdowns, conducted violent assaults, cracked down on covid protests ect. While a good portion of there police force weren't empowered to do so.
