Award-winning biographer Nicholas Shakespeare's recent work, Ian Fleming: The Complete Man, offers us a fresh portrait of the man behind James Bond and his enduring legacy. The evolution of what Bond represents about ideas of masculinity, the British national psyche, and global politics has shifted over time, as has the interpretation of the life of his author. However, Fleming himself was more mysterious and subtle than anything he wrote. Historian and writer Matthew Parker's book Goldeneye: Where Bond was Born, provides an intimate peek into Fleming's stay at Goldeneye in Jamaica, the space in which the Bondverse materialised. Together, they pay homage to the man behind 007.
Nicholas Shakespeare is a prize-winning British novelist and biographer whose works have been translated into 22 languages. His 1994 novel, The Dancer Upstairs, was adapted into a film by John Malkovich, featuring Javier Bardem. His most recent publication is the critically acclaimed authorised biography of Ian Fleming.
Matthew Parker was born in El Salvador and grew up in Britain, Norway and Barbados. An elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, he has lectured in Europe, the United States and the Caribbean. His books include The Sugar Barons and Goldeneye: Ian Fleming’s Jamaica.

Great to have a new and authorized biography, with family, of this very interesting man. I agree with the author regarding his initial reporting of the standard public perception of Fleming and praise him for delving beyond that trite persona.
