One could sew up the sides leaving arm openings, working to wrists on each side, and putting toggles on the front for a giant cardigan. Really like this pattern. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this pattern idea - I crochet lap blankets and shoulder shawls for facilities and a smaller version of this granny kimono works very well to serve as either a shoulder shawl or lap blanket - so they get a two for one. And I use a variety of different granny square patterns to start the main square and so have a lovely look to it as well. Thank you again for all you give us in the crochet world - and your humor is delightfully healthy. Happy thoughts & chuckles, Nancy
We’re off to watch the wizard , the wonderful wizard of shrugs - because , because , because , because because - of all the wonderful crochet he does ! 😊
I was making your original Granny Kimono Shawl and ran out of one of the colors of yarn I was using. (Noob move!) So, I had to wait a few days for Amazon to deliver more. I've become so obsessed with crocheting lately that I looked for something else to make in the meantime and here I landed. I'd like to say that I finished this on the same day my previous shawl's yarn arrived and I absolutely LOVE it! I put it on, walked in my son's room and tried to model it as you do. (No one can model quite like you, Dear) My son said, "Well, look at YOU." Yesss. Look at me -- I'm a crocheting fanatic. Thank you, Sweetheart!
I just finished making this. I love it. I didnt realize how much yarn it would take, 6 skeins, but it was worth it. Perfect to snuggle up in while watching TV and crocheting. Love listening to you reading while I crocheting also. Loved Wizard of Oz.
Just finished my kimono shawl. Now I can't wait for winter.. A bit heavy but that's better. For winter..Now on to make one with a lighter weight yarn.❤️ this pattern
Love the pattern and the colour! Imagine doing it in a soft chunky or fuzzy yarn how warm and cozy it would be! I love your step by step patterns even if i know the stitch. It's like a crochet along!
Hello Spider Fibre..I watched this tutorial and loved the colorway of the red heart yarn hot sauce .It looked familiar to me so I went to my yarn stash and low and behold I had that same colorway. I love this version of the kimono shawl .I decided to make one to use as a cosy shawl kimono to wear at the campfire when we go camping .Many thanks for your tutorials..Be safe and be well.Susan from British Columbia.
Hi Fiber Spider started your wonderful kimono shawl,@ cannot leave it down,YOU'RE a genius, luv all your tutoriaL/ I love tunics perhaps your wonderful brain could design some thing like this for a tunic/ I have complete faith in you, thank you so much
This is fantastic - you rock!!!! It's exactly the kind of pattern I was thinking of starting the other day, but could not figure out how to get the front of it to work without having to make 3 separate pieces....I have that red heart ombre yarn in the same color too :-D
I absolutely love this! The granny stitch is my favorite crochet stitch. I completed your Slice of Pi shawl a few weeks ago, so you know I have to make this one as well. Thank you for sharing your creativity and your beautiful craftsmanship!
My brother has been asking me for a kimono. This popped up today. Fantastic! Also - someone else commented about your voice being soothing. I agree 💯. You should do a sleep story. 🥰🥰
Ok, I need to get my yarn this is gorgeous 😍 I have to make this. Tnank you so much for bringing this to us. I am new to TH-cam and your channel and I have a blast watching you, your such fun. Have a great day.
I did one using the modern granny stitch. (It's almost done unless I buy another cake of LB Mandala in colorway Spirit.) I'm going to make my edging the round with the chain stitches. With 3 cakes and a 5.0mm hook (H) it comes out between the elbow and wrist on me. (I'm 5'3")
You could turn it into a poncho by putting a single crochet row between sides of the neck when the neckline was large enough for the head and neck, then continuing the pattern in rounds.
I wonder if you could turn this shawl into a cardigan.......... And if so how would you go about doing that........ The possibilities are nearly endless with this......
OMGOSH! You are the Bob Ross of crochet! Anytime I feel anxious I just play a video & it’s almost instant relaxation!😁❤️

I’m liking granny squares more and more now I see you can use them without having to sew them together.
Isn't that the truth

Hi Craig, I love this kimono shawl but I have a question. Will I be able to make it into a blanket/afghan?
If I made this in the closed stitch would I keep the 3 in the corner or drop it down to 2
