The magic begins at around 6:32
Sweet cleans and nicely nuanced Jazz playing really show off what this guitar can do.

I liked all the talking because I'm considering buying this guitar - very helpful to hear examples of the different possible neck pickup options.

I just ordered this guitar tonight, then found your video. The buyers remorse I was starting to feel is now gone and I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you.

You will love it! I've had mine over a year now and every time I pick her up I'm impressed with what an amazing guitar it is. I had a chance to play a 335 recently and wondered how that one would compare with my AS153... it didn't.

I have a 2016 and it's a great guitar for jazz and blues. I do like the flame-maple pick guard better than the black on the JSM. However, I do like it better without a pick guard.

I took my pick guard off too I didn't like it... Couldn't find anything else about this guitar I didn't like, the pickups surprised me it's not that bad. But people can always change them out if they think they need to upgrade.

I just would like to know the weight of this instrument. Would you be so kind to let me know, please.

I don't own this anymore but I believe it was about 7.5, definitely lighter than 8.

Was wondering would get this guitar your playing or ibanez ar720 ? Thank you for your input.

    • @MarbsMusic
      @MarbsMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh that is tough... this guitar plays great and gives that unique simi hollow sound but is also good to classic rock. That being said I've been eyeing those AR720s. A friend had a similar in the 80s and it was amazing. I would say play both, they both play similar to an SG in how they sit. For mostly rock probably the AR but if you want to explore Jazz, the AS. I have to assume the build quality is the same but can only speak for the AS and it's amazing. I have 2 Prestige, a Premium and a J Custom. The AS is probably somewhere in between the Premium and the Prestige models. They really seemed to have taken their time on this one.

    Hi there.
Lovely, smooth playing! And that tone is excellent.
I'm looking for a little advice. I have a Washburn HB-35 335 copy that I love very much, but the neck on it is quite think and heavy and I have small hands (and I ain't getting any younger) and I'm getting a bit of pain in my left hand while playing it. I don't have the same problem with my Strat, which has a thinner, lighter neck.
I have the option of buying an AS153, but it's online so I wouldn't have the opportunity to play it first (buy before you try material). I've heard that the neck is fairly thin, but it's really hard to know how thin, so I guess that's what I'm asking you. You said you had a few other guitars, so I'm wondering how you'd compare the neck thickness on your AS153 to, say, a Strat or similar? If you have the time, I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
    Cheers
    Simon

The neck isn't really thick but IMHO it's thicker than a c shaped Stratocaster, much more like a LP neck but not too big. It's bigger than a 60's slim taper but not as big as like a 58 neck. I really enjoy playing it.

@@MarbsMusic Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. The neck has to be easier than what I've got. Maybe I'll just dive in and buy one. And if it sounds as good as yours, I'll be very happy. :-)

@@simonwilliams6016 OK, so I bought one. And I'm not so sure now. I don't know if it's just the one I bought, but it's SO bright - even with the neck on series humbucker! I've dialled the tone almost all the way on both my amp and the guitar and it's getting closer to what my ears are seeking, but surely I shouldn't need to?
It's a nice guitar to play, with a good neck and great sustain. I almost feel, though, that maybe it's been wired wrong or something. I'm certainly not getting those wonderful, smooth, rounded tones you have in this video, or even that I get from my Washburn. Weird!
