    My fan is making a low humming noise. Was hearing it for a couple weeks thru my bathroom vents upstairs. I didn't know where it was coming from. Plumber came to my house and when he heard it he went outside and turned off the radon fan. That was making the noise. I'm gonna buy and replace the fan myself. 🙂

    So is it normal for the fan to make that noise when it’s below 20 degree? We just had we were in the negatives here in Chicago for few days and since then our radon fan is making a loud noise and is frozen a bit

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it is normal for a radon system to freeze when temperatures plummet for several days. Here are some videos that may help. Also, check out the comments, as many follow-up questions may be answered there.

    Should a radon fan cause vibration in the pipe running up from the basement. I’ve noticed a humming sound that’s coming from the pipe. The fan itself doesn’t seem noisy. Would the vibration in the pipe be without excessive noise be a sign to replace the fan?
    Thank you!

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It sounds like your fan may either be out of balance or fastened in a way that transfers noise and vibration into your home's framing. Perhaps your fan was dropped and became unbalanced, or a balancing weight on the impeller came off. You may want to adjust how it's secured so it doesn't transfer vibration into your home or the system's piping.

    Great video. My 5 year old system is currently making a Bass beat sound. We just had heavy rain and the spring thaw. So the sump is running every 30-60 seconds. The Radon fan tube is making a sound like it is subwoofers in the back of a car - deep bass. I can see the manometer is bouncing in level, so I'm guessing there is so much ground water pressure and a reverse vacuum forming that it is causing back pressure on the Radon Mitigation fan and the deep bass sound from the tube. What are your thoughts?

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the water below the slab is partially blocking the radon system. You can try lowering the point at which the sump pump turns to see if that helps lower the water table below your home.

    What replaces the XP201C ?
    Is there a difference in this unit and a XP201 ?

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's my understanding that the RadonAway fans with a 'C' at the end of their model number are consumer-grade and have a lower-quality motor. I'd replace it with the XP201. Here's a link to one: amzn.to/4bcXUV8

    What does it mean if its making a sqeauling noise one day, the next day the squeal is gone, but its making very loud noises, then the next day its quiet? My U tube shows its working properly- which I learned from your videos 😊❤ The noise thing had me concerned but now the noise is gone and Im confused. Its January in Iowa, no big snow this season yet. Its been unseasonably warm and we have had rain off/on. Thank you!!

      It sounds like your bearings are on their way out. The noise can be intermittent. I'd plan on replacing it soon.

    I have a brand new radon system that goes through the living room and bedroom, but the noise is extremely loud. I’m unsure what to do. My home is right next to the forest, so there’s no external noise, but the fan sound is quite awful. Any suggestions?

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. The easiest thing to do is to add a radon system noise suppressor. Check out this video to learn more. th-cam.com/video/92_3LxlNKwI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UqFO9kqB_smV6Woj
      2. Find someone who knows how to optimize your radon system. Optimization may include measuring pressure field extension, adding suction points, and sealing openings to the soil. These things may allow the use of a smaller, quieter radon fan.
      3. I consulted with a guy in Colorado last year who had success using the sound-dampening material they use between the carpet and floor pan of vehicles. He wrapped it around the piping inside the house.

      @@AmericanRadonMitigation thank you so much sir, I will check them out. My sentence wasn’t clear enough so Just to clarification; the radon system installed outside, running alongside my living room and bedroom. But still the noise is too loud.

    • @AmericanRadonMitigation
      @AmericanRadonMitigation  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could also relocate your system to vent out through the garage or house attic. Option three above won't do much for you if the noise you hear comes from outside. @@BenS01

    Just got a new fan installed and it din't solve the whole problem. The pipe itself is resonating loudly and causing the entire house to hum.

      You may need to hire a mitigation contractor who can do pressure field extension testing to diagnose your problem.

      We have the same problem on a brand new fan - everyone General Contractor I've talked to says "just unplug it". We are very close to doing that!
