Dude this is THE video i've been looking for! Keep up Niko, great job!
Thank you! 🙏
finally! someone explains it fast and simple. Thanks so much
Thank you 🙏
Btw, this method also works with XLR mic, but if you have interface only
But you still gonna have a bit of HZZZ but you can edited in editing softwares
I actually use that method now with my SM7B and Scarlett 2i2. Don’t really hear buzzing. My latest video (Sigma 16mm on Full Frame) was recorded this way.
I have looked everywhere for this info. I can't tell you how grateful I am for your advice ( I use a Sony a6400 and Samson G Track Pro).
Glad my video helped 🙂
I'm curious, any success in connecting your Sony A6400? I've got an older Sony A65 and a Presonus USB Revelator mic. I want to connect the mic to my A65 to make videos. One less step to sync audio to video in post sounds great to me. Let me know it you were able to connect your mic please. Thanks!
This was one of the most useful tutorials. I do have one quick question: when I connect my other usb mic, it works perfectly fine but when I connect my new one a large ‘sssss’ sound comes and I cannot hear any audio. How might I solve this? Thank you very much! (My mic is the AT-2100x-USB)
Plug usb to computer, does it need to be connected to a software or just plug it in without having to open anything?
@@BrianLowProductions just plug it in. The reason for this is so the microphone is powered on.
Thank you this was very helpful, it works 😅😊 but you need to have the mic app monitored the whole time while you recording or you will loose audio
although it works but i have some noise with it also. how to avoid buzz sound?
It could be a whole lot of possible reasons. Try using a different cable to start.
Thanks for your video- really helpful. But please with the 3.5mm trs cable the sizes I see in AliExpress is 1m-15m. What do you think will the ideal size to choose from? thanks
You are the real MVP!!! AMAZING explanation!
Thank you 🙏
Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Really helpful video, just one question. When your mic is plugged into the computer, does it matter what software is running, or does it simply just need to be plugged in to work?
It just needs to be plugged in so it can be powered.
This was useful! Im starting out aswell, gonna build a small studio in the weekend to come, and try to set everything up. And man there is alot of things to learn. hehe. Ill hit the subscribe aswell 😚
Thank you 🙏
hi i have the razer seiren v2 and the zve10 when i tried doing it it did not record the audio from the razer mic but from the mic of the camera. i have my pc turned on and the microphone is on. any idea what might be wrong?
What audio settings on camera
Hi ! I tried that with my Blue Yeti and my sony a7siii i dont work, no idea why, i already tried to take the volume of the headphone, million different ways and still dont work , only way to make it work is turning on the headphone volume up but i get distorced sound any tip?
That was helpful !
Thanks!
What if my camera doesn't have a microphone input? Is there another way around this? I have the g7x mark ii
If there is no mic input on the camera, then there is no way to record directly to it, unfortunately 🙁
Hey, my Toner Mic doesnt have a earphone jack. Would i still be able to connect this mic to the sony zv-e10?
New sub. Can you give me any information on why ever since I plugged the male/male jack exactly how you showed that I now have a buzzing noise. When I unplugg the jack it goes away. Is is the length or jack cord?
Have you tried other cords?
Just other brands? No I haven't. I bought one that was nearly 30 dollars thinking that would reflect the quality but apparently not the case. I'll try changing the cord out.
@@seasonedreactions one more question. Are you using a laptop and is it plugged? I had this situation before where I had that buzzing sound, but when I take the plug out of the laptop, the buzzing disappears.
thank you!
Thank you for watching 🙏
Hey man question, Im looking into podcast mics that I can plug into my camera to get the audio directly to the video but I found only certain podcast mics have the headphone outlet, is that correct? If I find a mic with the headphone outlit, and purchase the TRS cable, im good to go right? Thanks man, appreciate the help!
Thank you this is exactly what I’ve been looking for
Now the question is, when plugged to the camera and computer at the same time, can you still use the features of the app to change the audio, like applying compressor, limiter, EQ etc. or you only plug it to the computer just to power it and cannot tinker with it?
For the MV7 at least, yes, you can still tinker with the settings of the MOTIV app.
@@NikoBols Great! I’ll try this. Thanks for the reply!
Do you have any noises in the background when recording? I tried several minijack 3.5mm cables and each time i record directly into A7 camera, i got weird noises in the background. But, when record directly onto computer via usb-c, there is no noises at all.
I’ve never experienced having noises when recording straight to the camera. Hmmm…so all cables you tried produces the same noise?
@@NikoBols yes, indeed.
@@warzyd86 Same issue here 😕
Same issue.
Anyone find a fix to this yet??
Very helpful, thank you so much ⭐️
You’re welcome 🙏
Thank you, Niko!
You’re welcome and thanks for watching 🙏
wow.. this is great bro.. thanks a lot
You're welcome. Thanks for watching 🙏
Hey Niko, do you pick any buzzing with this method? I tried with my fifine K690 and it sucked hahaha, maybe its my 3.5 cable
Hey Artemio. No, I haven't experienced any buzzing with this method. Yes, try changing the cable. Maybe it's an interference issue from not much shielding of the cable.
@@NikoBols thanks for the quick response... lastly: considering both mics function pretty similar, how much gain are you using on both knobs?
@@ArtemioSilva When using the MV7, I use it on auto mode and my A7siii's volume setting is at 4.
Hey Artemio, I had this problem as well. The solution I used on my canon camera was to go to menu -> sound recording -> manual -> rec level -> all the way to the bottom + 1 notch. This should fix the issue. :)
Awesome Brudda Niko!
Thank you! 🙏
helpful content idol! gustong gusto ko to kaso walang 3.5mm jack ung condenser ko. 😂
Salamat idol! Sayang, malaking convenience din siya na hindi na kailangan mag sync.
Kuya dueknel dba naka bm800 ka? At v8
@@UnliLamon narealize ko. may 3.5mm pala kasi naka phantom power ako. hahahaha
Great video and help! Is there a way to do this with 2 mics?
I’d say yes by using a stereo splitter. Check out 0:51 of my video here: th-cam.com/video/Kq8yPdZ5bHg/w-d-xo.html
This one video made me subscribe to ur channel. well done!!!
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
You helped me alot thanks buddy 😇
You’re welcome! 🙏
i dont have 3.5 jack in my mic
Great job
Thanks!
Thanks you ! Cool video, this help me a lot ! 👍🏽👏🏽
You're welcome. Thank you for watching 😀
Hey, I am thinking about doing this. Since it's been awhile that you've made this video. How's it going now? Any issues? Let me know if anything. thanks!
Hi Manan. No issues at all. Still using this setup until now 😀
@@NikoBols thanks for replying!
Excellent
I can’t press record while it’s plugged in.
Hmm...sorry, but I don't know how to troubleshoot this as I have not experienced this problem.
Good one
Thanks!

Don't get too excited people. If your camera has no option for audio called Bias Voltage/Plugin Power this method won't work. (it needs to be disabled when connecting dynamic microphones)
The mics need bus power. No need for a computer. Just buy a usb c powered hub.
what if im using AI?
What I do is the cable I connect to the earphones jack of the audio interface instead of the USB Mic.
yeah so what if im using my phone to record bud? not a very inclusive tutorial lol .-.
It may work, but normally earphone out is not directly compatible with mic-in in camera, and normally gives noise
Exactly. for example, my sony zv1 has no option for audio called Bias Voltage/Plugin Power. it needs to be disabled when connecting dynamic microphones. Dynamic microphones should not receive bias voltage (plugin power)
I initially tried using a 25' audio cable, but was getting a loud buzzing noise. I subsequently turned down the audio record level to 2 (then 1) to see if that would eliminate the buzzing sound, but no dice. Then I tried a 10' audio cable, and voila, no buzzing sound. Thanks for sharing.
Good thing the buzzing sound disappeared. 👍
This was very helpful, thank you!!
I was wondering the same question as to the microphone getting an alternative power source to the laptop, thank you so much.
THIS WAS PERFECT AND FASTER THAN ANY OTHER VID I COULD FIND!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Thank you for watching 🙏
This is so cool bro
my computer is being repaired, so I thought I'd try out the microphone with my camera. I figured I could just plug it into the wall mount, but it didn't work. I thought as long as it had power, it would be fine. But now that you've shared this information, it makes sense. I was getting a little frustrated, but I really appreciate your video. I'll give it another shot once I get my computer back. Thanks!
Thanks man. But will the audio get recorded in analog with white noise?
To be honest, I don’t know how to answer this question. 😬 Could you elaborate? I’m not really technically trained when it comes to these.
This is literally what I've been looking for!!!
Glad this video helped 🙏🙂
Thank you! this really helped me to figure out how to setup my shure mic :D
You’re welcome. Glad the video helped 🙂
But my Fujifilm camera doesn't have an audio jack, only mini hdmi and mini usb
Hi i need help. I have a fifine 669b mic which only has a usb cable. How do I get it to work on my canon m50 camera?????😩
Ooof…unfortunately, you would need an earphone jack to route the mic to your m50.
They make phantom power devices now. Picked up one from Amazon for $12.99 (MouKey). I have the HyperX Quadcast S and it works with a device by Anyoyo, a 6-in-1 USB C hub.
How about 3 mic at the same time ? Can you show me how to do it ?
Sige na nga eto na bbilhin ko kesa sa SM7B 😂 bakit may prnhub na nakaopen? 😂
This was a great help! thank you
Glad ot helped. Thanks for watching 🙂
Would this work with 2 Microphones and a 2-to-1 audio jack connected to the camera?
Great explanation. Thank you
❤❤
Thank you!
It will work or not , if i give power with mobile phone via OTG
It was thank you
Great video and explanation! Thanks!😊
Thank you 🙏
I've pugged my usb mic into my camera before and the audio sucks. It's not the same quality as when I use the audio from the computer. Do you have any advice for me?
Not really sure why this is the case for you. I don’t hear that much of a difference in mine. When you say “the audio sucks” what do you specifically mean? Low volume? Static sounds? Clipping audio?
@@NikoBols Thanks for the reply. It seems to me that the depth or deep sound of my voice is not the even close to sounding as it does when recorded on my computer. I hope that makes sense.
@@NickNewsome how is the USB mic connected to the camera? Have you tried different cables?
@@NikoBols No, I havent. Guess I'll have to try that. Just don't have another so I'll have to order one. Thanks for the info
Hi! Does this method is still applicable with bm800 and v8 live soundcard?
I'm not sure. But you can try. If the v8 soundcard has a 3.5mm earphone jack, you can try to connect that to your camera. Update me if it works 🙂
Thank you so much. so helpful
You’re welcome and thank you for watching 🙏
Great video bro, it helped a lot, I am about to buy the Samson Q2u and want to use this exactly setup.
Thank you 🙏
Hi, Do you know if this could work with a Rode PodMic usb to connect it to a Canon R10? I’ve been searching for cables and they say it’s not compatible, but I haven’t tried 😖
If the Rode PodMic USB has a headphone jack, then yes, it should work with the cable that I used in this video.
please after watching your video and asking a few questions I bought a male to male cable to try connecting my camera to the mic directly, but the Audio upon recording contains a hissing sound. Any help? thanks
Hi there.. i am buying the razer siren mini and i have the Dji pocket 2.. the question is, if i buy a powered usb hub and a usb to 3.5mm adapter and connected the hub to the camera and then the mic to the hub would it work?
Hmmm…interesting. I’m not entirely sure. Easiest way to find out is to try. In theory, it should work. As long as the USB-to-3.5mm cable can output the audio, then it should be able to work on a camera that accepts a 3.5mm jack microphone 👍
@@NikoBols will try it tomorrow and let you know
@@ahmadaladel-9811 yes please. When I use my SM7B and record straight to camera, the mic is connected to an audio interface, and the interface is the one connected to the camera that’s why initially I think your setup might work too 👍
thanks for this
You’re welcome.
Can this work on a phone?
In theory, if you're phone can receive a 3.5mm mic jack, then it should work. I haven't tried though.
Bruh, you saved my ass and my 100$ haha thank you so much
You’re welcome! 🙂
Brother , why TRS ? Not TRSS that have the microphone thing inside the cable ?
Cameras don’t take in TRRS for microphones (unless it’s the smart ones from the new mics).
@@NikoBols i see , thanks alot man , now i can buy my trs cable without worry 😅, you save me 😁.
Thank you so much. It worked with my XT3.
Glad it worked 🙏
Thanks!
I didnt listen first time and plugged into outlet. Confirmed it didn't work, but worked when plugging into PC. Thank you for saving me at least a hour!
@@patrickbrayCPA yeah, it has to be powered by a computer 🙂 Glad it worked out.
THANK YOU - did you change any of the sound setting on the camera and on the mic for better quality ???
@@glowwithgillian I’d lower the gain on the camera to about 5 and adjust the mic’s volume if I want my audio louder.
@@NikoBols THANK YOU
kindly share the amazon link for the cable
I have tried 6 different USB mics hooked up just like in this video to my SONY RX100 M7. (USB to computer. 3.5mm to camera). I can't get rid of the frequency noise. Tried different cables and mics. However, when I plug the a 3.5mm shotgun mic right into the camera it works with no frequency sound. How to stop the interference??
Very helpful! New subscriber!
Thank you 🙏
How to connect *two microphones* shure mv7 to *one* sony camera?
What cable you recommend for Sony a7iv?
Any male-to-male trs cable from any reputable brand will do.
So theoretically speaking, what if I was trying to use my USB mic set up in this way, but in places that I don't necessarily have my computer? I've been having a super jankey idea of plugging it into my phone and just hitting record. That way the drivers enable the mic properly and I just hit camera record for the shots I need. But I'm definitely open to any better ideas!!!
I plug my mic directly tp my camera Shure mic and a jbl pocket 3 camera i use usb plug works awesome
Great video, I set up my Sony alpha 7ii with the sennheiser Profil just the way you discribed, I can control the audio via the mic but I get a pretty loud hissing sound , do you have any ideas way? Thanks for the help
I think you can set the input volume from the camera as low as possible. I've seen another video about this but haven't tried it yet.
THANK YOU VERY HELPFUL!!!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found it helpful 🙂
Finally, the answer I’ve been looking for! And in a quick video 🥲
