New Zealand was my bucket list trip. LOTR are my favorite movies and ever since they came out I knew I had to visit! Hobbiton is very touristy but worth the visit! Glow worm cave is awesome too! And Milford sound! We did a lot of country driving and enjoyed the scenery and all the sheep. 🐑 I know some people do a van to see both islands but we flew to the South Island after a week on the north island and loved doing it that way! We had an AMAZING trip and I hope you do too!
Ooo just remembered if you’re a Lord of the Rings fan hike up to mount Sunday. The filming location of Rohan. The set is torn down and it’s not touristy at all. We only saw a few other people there but it’s beautiful! Esp in November the mountains will be snow capped! It’s a bit of a back road to get there just fyi!
2 tips: Take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy (you never know what life will throw at you) and make sure to reconfirm any upcoming flight details because changes and flight cancellations can easily happen!
Great tips. My tip is always get travel insurance. My partner got sick when we visited Morocco on our first holiday together. It was not something we really thought of but got as it was super cheap package with our flights. It covered hospital stay and our flights home. Highly recommended for stress free travel.
You have the choice of annual travel insurance so you are covered for all your travels.
Please do not travel without travel insurance. Unless you have money to burn.
So many valuable tips in this video that I'd never thought of esp asking yourself questions like relaxation or adventure trip.. and doing a ton of research before going like the weather, good places to eat and fun things to do. Please do a follow-up video with your minimalist packing trips!

Oh you should be able to get pretty cheap flights between NZ and Aus, sometimes even as cheap as domestic flights within Australia!
That might be a solution for getting to Aus without spending a fortune!
I know you enjoy tea- maybe try to source some local Manuka honey as a treat to bring home!

Absolutely loved your video ! And so excited you're traveling to NZ which is in my part of the world. I'm from Papua New Guinea which is just above Australia. A friend and I toured the North Island of NZ in 2018 ( Auckland, Rotorua, Taupo and Wellington) and loved it ! One of the big highlights was white water rafting in Taupo, the hot springs in Rotorua and the restaurant there overlooking Rotorua which was accessed by a chair lift. I would recommend also trying a hangi which is the traditional food of the Maori people in NZ. This will be a real cultural experience of the first nations people in NZ. I also recommend seeing a Maori cultural event with their traditional singing and dancing. Before sports games are played especially Rigby you'll see the NZ team do the Haka which is a traditional war cry of the Maori people. Spectacular to watch!

Do NOT travel to New Zealand in November if you want any good weather. Spring is a notoriously wet season here. The good weather usually doesn't come until after New Years. For a good "shoulder season" I'd recommend coming in March or April.

Australian flights are quite expensive at the moment. Due to the pandemic, everything slowed down. Give it a year or 2
Love the footage from Boston! I was just there for a long weekend and I loved it!
I think it should be mentioned that those flight deal websites are US specific. You can't set your home airport if you live in another country. They also require monthly subscriptions to utilize all of the features.
I used to love Airbnb but it hardly has the best deals anymore. I've gone back to booking hotels, especially nice if you can find one that includes breakfast as part of the reservation, and they're more predictable in terms of what you can expect to get. Less scams, too. I've also found Expedia gives pretty good deals overall when searching for flights and hotels. It's worth it to sign up for breakfast through them (if not included) because they get a better rate than if you pay per person at the hotel. If you have an account, you can accrue points to get discounts on future stays, and sometimes they offer member only rates or special perks like parking credit. (That might be more specific to Europe where you have to pay for parking.) Didn't know about that grid system in Google so will definitely use that going forward.
P.S. If you ever find yourself in Munich, Germany check out Krua Thai for some awesome, cheap, and authentic Thai food.
Hotel reviews can be mixed. I've stayed in hotels that had a lot of bad reviews and they were great and I would stay again. With airbnb though great review are a must. The biggest one was I stayed in a hotel in France that was recommended by Rick Steves in his France Guide book. There were lots of reviews that said the location is great but everything else sucked but I disagree. I really liked it.

Start with what you know you don't want. This let's you priorities what's important & meaningful to you.
Use independent travel agents - they're able to buy wholesale. For example in 2019 we flew Melbourne Australia- Dubai, Dubai - London, London- Rome, Dubai - Melbourne for less than what we were looking at 1 flight purchasing direct through an airline.
Prioritise your interest & pay for a private tour guide. More expensive but the experience you get 1 on 1 with a private tour is priceless
Remember you're choosing to visit another country, which mean you're entering their culture.
Pay attention to traditional owners & indigenous customs & knowledge - be respectful!

Southwest airlines here in the US just had a 3 day sale of 29.00 one way from cities across the system out fo Little rock they offered St Louis or Atlanta i bought both
From NZ, you have definitely chosen all the beautiful parts of NZ to visit. One bit of advice, when asked where you come from locals say that you are Canadian even though you live in the States, you will get a more friendlier response from them.
I'm also planning a trip to Italy! How did you figure out where to start your stay (as in which part of the country) and make your way through the cities? Did you stay at different locations throughout the trip or did you make day trips and head back to the same spot? I hope that question makes sense..
Start by deciding on a tourist location or a destination like a city that is a must visit. Or you can start with entry points of the country. Book ur hotel strategical. You can book multiple hotels. Its very common. Just focus on duration from ur hotel to attractions.

cheap way to Australia from the US is to fly to Hawaii and then fly with Jetstar to Australia.

Another question: how do you deal with long international flights? Are you able to sleep on the flight or do you stay awake the whole time? I feel like those 15-24 hr flights seem unbearable. Any pro tips?
