    Of all the old Nikons out there, I fell in love with the EM. I have a small collection now and actually getting better at repairing and restoring them.

    Brilliant little camera. Either love it or hate it. My old Af 50 1.8 lives on mine.

    Very informative. I just bought one of these cameras on eBay and it should be arriving within a few days. I can’t wait to get out and start shooting some 35mm. I’ve already bought 2 rolls and I’m keeping them stored in a dark and cool place so they don’t get damaged before I use them.

      Film will keep for years in the original plastic film cans in the freezer. Just take them out a few hours before you are ready to load your camera. Leave them in the film can until they warm up. If you take the film cartridge out of the can before it’s warmed up to room temperature you can get condensation on the film. Enjoy you EM. Thanks for watching my video.

    Really well done video! I would like some advice. I just found these two Mitakon lenses, a 28mm and a 70-210 (mounted on the Nikon EM). Can I easily mount them on my D5600 (obviously losing all the automatic mechanisms and the exposure meter) without causing damage?🤣 Thanks

    • @julesvuottosphotofocus4696
      @julesvuottosphotofocus4696  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Since they work on the EM then they must be AI lenses. Which means they should mount on the 5600 with no issues. I would proceed very carefully just in case. If there is any resistance when mounting stop.

    Thanks for the video! Mum gave me my Pops old EM.. I'm only old enough to have briefly used film cameras, I'm looking forward to using this one.
    One question - there's a few black spots when looking through the viewfinder. The mirror and lens are both clean though. Would these black spots appear on the film?
    Thanks!

    • @julesvuottosphotofocus4696
      @julesvuottosphotofocus4696  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most likely those spots are on the focus screen. If they are on the underside of the screen you can try using a bulb blower. Take off the lens and give the screen a few blasts with the blower. If the spots are still there then the spots are probably on the top of the screen. There is nothing you can do about that. But don’t worry those spots won’t appear on the film.

      I the video I was using a very old roll of Kodak UC 100 color print film just to demonstrate how to load the camera. Mostly I use Ilford HP5+ black and white film.

    Great Video, Thank you!!!!. I just asking about load a half used film. How can you advance some used exposures, 10 of 36 in my case?

    • @julesvuottosphotofocus4696
      @julesvuottosphotofocus4696  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Load the camera. Set the to M90 which is around the shutter release. Set the aperture on the lens to F16 or if it has F22 set it to that. Make sure the lens cap is on and advance the film and release shutter and repeat this until you advance past the used exposures. Thanks for watching my video.

    Great video. Thank you! I inherited my Moms EM that my dad and I bought her in 1980. I just bought a Nikon Z50 and I am wondering if the F mount converter for the Z series will except EM lens. She had a Macro lens for her EM that I would like to try on my Z50 but I have read where you can damage the F mount converter with certain lenses. Thank you!

    Is it normal that the viewfinder is blurry? I've cleaned the lenses and viewfinder lens, but it's a matte opacity blur except for the very center circle.

    Well this is one of the Nikon I don t like (and they are not numerous in this case). In fact I don t see any advantage of this model vs the FG which is similar in a lot of points but permits the semi auto mode and honnestly nowadays they are more or less at the same price. I agree the E series is rather good (28-50-135 mainly) even if less pleasant to use than AI or AIs. It s not a bad camera but the FG is just better full point.

      In contrary, my dearest one. It is normal because it was first Nikon in my hands ever (even borrowed). After Prakticas, Zeniths, Feds.... I was amazed. With feels in hand, weight, sound, precision of manufacturing comparing to mentioned brands before. Very delicate and fine leather over body. I was aware of lack of full controls, partly one may overcome tweaking the ISO. And most of all result with 50/1.8 E was amazing for me.
      All those positive memories forced me buy one couple of years ago. But also soon get FG too. I like to have them although have no intention to shoot film again.
