Not strategy just a fun fact: In prior versions of the game, carp had teeth that could inflict 3 times as much damage as an unarmed dwarf's fist, and so could dispatch an unarmed and unarmored dwarf (e.g. a fisherman, or a miner going for a drink) with ease. They were also strangely aggressive for fish, something which was kept for many releases because it was funny. "I think I made fish too hardcore" --Toady One

@@DakkaBert For dwarves it is still a training method to drop them into a 4/7 pool with a retractable bridge and they have to swim out to the stairs. Another dwarven gym is the pump room. You don't have to pump anything they just have to use it.
You can and should do that, for sure! I usually have only one tile available to fish from, and I put the unprepared fish stockpile on that single tile.
Icon, could u please make a tutorial on how to deal with all the strange moods? I’ve watched almost all in this series and haven’t seen one on that, unless I just missed it. Thank u for these tutorials. They have been a great help while I’m trying to learn this incredibly deep, complicated and fun game.

I've also heard that swimming trained strength and endurance, and thus they were incredibly strong from swimming all day

Would be nice if you could make a storage that laps over the fishing area and the fisher dwarf would automaticly place it into said stockpile.

put the fish stockpile literally on the land where the fisher will stand on when fishing. 1 less haul task for your fort per fish.

Sure, will do! Only a day ago or so I thought about exactly that. And no, you haven't missed out anything, it just ain't done yet on my list =)
@@Ic0nGaming I keep forgetting how and where to look for their dwarf thoughts when they can't find a thing...

unprepared fish go in a bin? I need a tutorial on bins and barrels.
After this tutorial, I entered my dwarves in a bass fishing contest and took 1st place. I couldn't have done it without @ic0ngaming
