    I have also seen a binder like this, but it was for scanned copies of Drivers Licenses, Debit/Credit Cards, any cards that are in your wallet, in case your wallet is lost or stolen you have a copy of all of it to more easily get them replaced and/or canceled. I am going to get my butt in gear and combine the two. Thank you.

    I love this, right now I've just got folders. Some things I'd add:: Copy of drivers license, diplomas, blood type if you have it, copy of donor card. I'd like to see what others have in theirs so I know mine complete! TFS

    Another option if you're techy and hate paperwork is to get a portable hard drive scan everything and put it in a safe deposit box. This could also be a back up plan in case something like a house fire happened and no one was home to grab the folder.

    We have scans of everything. All of our important items are in our bank's safety deposit box (folded and bundled as necessary) since we can't fit a whole binder in there (think incremental pricing for a larger sized safety box that goes up yearly). Therefore we just keep a small streamlined index of what's in the safety box at home for reference and update that as needed. We don't travel often (for passport access). All in all , this modified system has worked great for us.

    Thanks Laura! I already have my important documents organized and filed in our file cabinet, but everything is in separate folders for personal documents, business, health, house, insurance, travel, etc. You inspired and encouraged me to get everything into one binder and in one easy to locate place! Thank you! ❤️

    A great idea to use a binder to compile all these important documents.

    thank you Laura, I think this is a great idea. I'm going to build my own to replace my messy accordion filer.

    Additional items I have always kept along with the birth certs and passports are vaccine records as well as copies of drivers licenses, insurance cards, travel insurance paperwork, and passports - extra passport photos also. When I travel, I take a copy of my passport and a few photos with me. Whoever is my emergency contact stateside then also has access to my information should they need it.

    Thank you soooo much for this! I thought I was organized since I have folders in a file cabinet with these docs. I'm doing this this weekend! And keeping them in a fire safe! Thank you again!

    I like learning that there are clear binders with a fold over top. I get aggravated when papers slip out.

    I was thinking of folders but I like this idea better. I would add wills, medical directive, medical history for our children to refer to in the future. Thanks for sharing how you set this up.

    I was wondering how you would suggest saving a birth certificate that is legal size with a births abroad that is letter size? I would have to have a legal folder when everything else is letter size. I know I can fold it but that would drive me crazy.

    • @HautePinkFluff
      @HautePinkFluff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Instead of a binder, you could try using a legal size file accordion. You can still have separate categories and you don't have to fold any papers.

    • @patc04

      I added a letter size copy of the birth certificate to the binder and kept the original birth certificates on a legal folder attached to the binder. So annoying that they still use legal size papers!

    Good information here: One observation. The link to the Avery extra wide dividers is incorrect. I didn't get the extra wide when I ordered from your link to Amazon. Please fix this. The correct order number is: Avery 11163.

    Hi Laura, I love this idea and want to put it in place for our family. I do not see a link to Megan's session, I would love to see it and apply her suggestions to our family. Am I somehow missing it here? Please advise. I just found you today and spent 4 hours watching your videos! Thanks. :)

    I would add a copy of my latest tax return, a bill with my address to be used for proof of address, pic of my home, any child support & custody info, papers if needed, current picture of each member & pets, dr and medical info, life insurance policies, a snip of hair or baby tooth. Powers of attorney and DNR if needed., ER contact list

    The most important thing is to keep that Binder inside a plastic bag, and then place it in a Fire 🔥 Proof Cabinet 🗄 Locked 🔒

    I have been trying to get myself in gear to get this done. The hang up I keep having is several of my important documents are on legal sized paper, and I hate folding them so they'll fit into a standard binder. Currently they're in a hanging file folder at the back of the file cabinet where I will likely forget/miss them in an emergency. Any suggestions?
    Another thing I'd add is to set aside an area at the back of each section (or maybe the back of the binder) for things that get updated periodically, such as Auto Insurance, Vet Records for you pets, maybe even an up to date family photo and photos of pets.

  • @spiritualsoulchild
    @spiritualsoulchild ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For your family for example are you going to keep every single medical test for your kids and such inside this one binder? It seems like it would bulk up pretty quickly

  • @watchwoman16

    Hi How big is your binder? It looks bigger than 1”. The link you shared has multiple sizes. I need to select a size that would work. Your binder looked like a 2” binder. Please let me know what size you actually used for yours. Thanks.

    Can you verify that the Avery pg holders listed in the description hold an 8.5x11 sheet? It says they do. I’ve been disappointed by whatever brand it is that does not actually hold a standard piece of paper on the interior dimension, and don’t want to accidentally purchase the wrong item again LOL

    • @GetOrganizedHQ
      @GetOrganizedHQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine do hold a standard 8.5 by 11 sheet just fine.
