If a civilian police car is in front of you, you will rarely recognize that it is the police. in Germany, it's possible for citizens to own firearms, but there are strict regulations in place. As a German resident, you can legally own a firearm, but you need to fulfill several requirements: - Gun License (Waffenbesitzkarte, WBK): You must apply for a gun license. To get this, you need to prove that you have a legitimate reason to own a gun (e.g., hunting, sport shooting). Self-defense is generally not accepted as a reason to possess firearms. - Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old. For certain types of firearms, you need to be 21 or older. - Background Check: You must undergo a thorough background check, which includes proving that you are mentally stable and have no criminal record. This is done through police and psychiatric screenings. - Gun Safety Course: You also need to complete a course on gun safety and demonstrate that you understand how to handle firearms responsibly. - Storage Regulations: Firearms must be securely stored in a safe that meets government standards. Ammunition must also be stored separately. - Membership: Typically, you need to be a member of a registered shooting club if you want a sports shooter’s license. Hunters need a hunting permit, which also involves a significant amount of training and testing. So yes, as a German citizen, you can own firearms, but the regulations are much stricter compared to countries like the United States. The laws are designed to ensure that firearms are owned only by responsible individuals who have a legitimate use for them.
@@stevesimmons6685 they are not really legal. you can obtain one through 3 ways: 1. Shooting-Club: You need to prove how often you were shooting and you have to do a minimum time. You are a Hunter: Pretty much the same procedure but you can own unlimited pistols but I think only a couple rifles (not really sure 3. You always have to do the psychological test. Gun owners are pretty "rare" in germany because of the above reasons. Its pretty hard to get LEGAL guns in germany, but the illegal firearm number is rising
