Ok, I just watched this again after work. And because I am a huge nerd, and love all sciences. I watched the part with the card a few times, and someone else correct me if I am wrong. But you were working against physics. You were adding an extra force, your breath to something that was most likely weighted equally on both sides(depending on if the card was folded directly in half), so if you added a paper clip or something that could have added just a few extra grams to the side you were blowing it should have worked. Or because of Newton’s first law of motion, you needed and opposite force on the end of your island, to stop the card from falling. I will be trying this tomorrow to see if it works.... I analyzed this more than the prompt/Experiment on my physics final for my degree... priorities😂😂 I am also probably reading too far into it.
I thiught abt that too! ;) Wouldn't it have helped if they didn't fold the cards that much? With a card which is a bit more flat the center of gravity isn't that high above the table. Thats what I thought... Did you try it your way? (which also sounds logical)

Given that cards usually come prefolded, I don’t think they could have tried to unfold them, and then refold them. They had the center of gravity as far down as possible without laying the card flat. Also instead of blowing right in the center of the card I tried moving where I was blowing and it worked better when I was closer to the counter.

Viki Ertl No problem. I love trying to make mini experiments when I am curious about things. I was a physics major until I figured there was noting really I could go with it. So I switched over to Public Health with a specialty in Epidemiology, But physics will always have a place in my heart.
