    I just call the word CROW , with my hands cupped around my mouth, very loudly. They know it is me, with food. I have even called high flying crows and seen them do a u turn in the sky and land near the house. They have a vocal telegraph system, where each distant crow , passes the word onto the next block. One time they left a white stone in the shape of a small egg on the porch, they are fun.

    Dang, your teaching is spot on. I sing so the falsetto was easy, added the guttural and it worked like a charm. It is rough on the throat though and I can't get up high enough to make it sound the right pitch. I can hit the 'auhhhhhh' that you do in the video but once you put the two steps together and do a real call, your pitch jumps up and it sounds very authentic. I wish I could get up that high. Thanks much for posting that video.

    I like to imitate crows.....I have been doing it since I was a kid. I was born in the 1960s, so I am pretty old. I like to observe them in my neighbourhood. I love them.

    Oh my goodness you were SO right. I have a large family of crows on my property. They have been hanging out here for years and I enjoy them. This morning about a dozen were scattered around silently doing crow business. I crowed and they ALL had a meltdown. They started yelling to each other, from all over the place, formed a flock and got out of Dodge, all in less than 3 minutes. 😢

      Yeah, you have to be careful when you call and particularly what you might be saying. I've had it go wrong a couple times too believe me. Everything I talk about i learned from experience, both good and bad. Just leave them some treats and they'll see you are an good human and not a scary one.

    YOU GOT IT BROTHER! The gutteral is like a "pea" in a whistle😂
    *Your voice sounds perfect for raven calls
    Crows have such better control of that gutteral, and it is actually the most important part of the typical call ..
    I'd love to see a vid of you & your crows singing, I love that time with mine!
    Perhaps singing is a better intro to crows than cawing, untill you know WHAT you are cawing...
    I have to watch more brother!

    Can confirm they recognize and respond to a consistent sound too (as others have commented on). When I put out peanuts in the tray feeder (and some on the ground for the crows), I give the feeder a sharp rap three times (knock knock knock) . Instantly, I see crows and jays moving in. I mean instantly. I have been doing this for several years and they all seem to know... I am going to try to work on the crow sound tho. That would be fun to master.

    Thanks for this video man! I'll definitely start practicing. I have a bunch of crow buddies that visit me on almost all of my breaks at work for their daily rations of unsalted peanuts. There's a particular sound they make to one another that I've been curious to know what it means. Its a quieter sound they make when they're within a foot or two of each other. Its almost like a purring/bubbly sound(?) followed by two short...sounds. The feeling I get is its almost an affectionate sound, maybe? Anyways, awesome video!

    Awesome!! Thanks man!! No wonder that local crows were looking at me funny.. I was sounding like a walrus or something!! But now I got it out of first try,---, thanks to the proper explanation ;) HAH! KA KA! Crows and magpies are my favorite too! Cheers outta Croatia!
    To add,
    All birds are a manifestation of what a divine creature is capable of, I'd say. Crows especially are very connected to the spiritual world.
    And the design of bird's body is "out of this world" eh? I will clue you in some more.
    According to R.Steiner, anything that has an exoskeleton comes from the evil side of the town. Humans can not digest insects, for various reasons. Yet birds feed on them. Birds obviously clean up any excess of bugs, them being able to "digest evil"!! Who knows, maybe locust tornadoes happen only in bird-less regions that have been destroyed by some kind of human industry...

      There's actually been some research done on animal communications around that topic. Apparently, other birds are alarm systems for other animals too like the Chickadee and the bluejay. They do truly have a system lol

However I wish you could meet my two Raven friends. Their language is soooo much more varied & also easier to replicate with an older human larynx such as my own. 😄 So those two, yeah we have some interesting convos. 😎

    Can you buy a Crow Call?

    • @LearnStuffWithÓnen
      @LearnStuffWithÓnen  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can actually. If you go to a sports store like Bass Pro or Academy, I've found crow calls there. I've tested some of them out. It takes a minute to get it down, but they aren't bad once you do. Just you have to keep up with it. I started out with those calls but wanted to learn how to make it myself so that way I didn't have to keep up with an object. And when you can make the call yourself from your own voice, it becomes a part of you. A part of your spirit, and a part of your essence in nature. I found it helps the connection between humanity and nature. But that's just how I see it. There's nothing wrong with using a store crow call :)
      I will say you can get a lot more noise area coverage with a store crow call. They are loud :)

    So what is the sound to make when they are on the phone pole looking at you nearby?

    • @LearnStuffWithÓnen
      @LearnStuffWithÓnen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Not sure a sound is necessary depending on how close it is. If they are watching you, then you've already accomplished the purpose that calling for them would do. I only do it to bring them into an area. Once they are there, I try not to use it anymore. I'll instead use like a kissing sound, or a whistle or something unique to me so they identify my with not only the my crow call, but my other sounds.
