According to band member David Paich, the song is about a man's love of the continent Africa, rather than a personal romance. He based the lyrics around a late-night documentary with depictions of African plight and suffering.
EVERY SONG mentioned is THE BEST ONE..lol !! But the BEST 'VIDEO' is ROSANNA....oh my word.!° One of the BEST GUITAR PLAYERS in the world is STEVE LUKATHER ....& TOTO is one of the best EVER ..they even worked with Michael Jackson on THRILLER !!
Toto is probably the most talented and underrated bands in rock. Consists of 3 Porcaro brothers. Sadly Jeff and Mike passed on. Steve is still alive and he is one of the keyboardists here. They also are the musicians who play for Michael Jackson and so many hit albums from the 70’s till now. Steve even wrote “Human Nature” for MJ. They deserve to be in the hall of fame!!! This was their biggest album winning every Grammy. Yet when Mike died they didn’t even include him in the in memoriam . Aloha
I'm 56 years old, so I've been listening to music for a while now. Honestly, I think that this is my favorite song of all time. I don't know why I love it so much. It just sounds so dang cool. The music along with the harmony of the voices gives me chills to this day, at a point in my life when I don't get near as many "chills" as I used to. Something about this song makes me feel adventurous and brave.
I love your reactions. I was the former manager for the band Toto and the lead singer. Who's the second part of the song that says bless the rains down in Africa? Which is the best part this song because of the high pitch and deep voice. I talked to him all the time he's in Los Angeles. I will share your video with him, you will enjoy it. My name is max other than South Florida. Goblas you guys, thanks for the entertainment. 6:41
Just found this reaction after I saw your reaction today to Rosanna. Love this song. It is amazing. That music is just incredible! That sound was new to us in the early 80s and not sure anyone has duplicated it.
"I Blessed the Rains Down in Africa". Toto has been going strong with hits for over 4 decades; I have seen them in many concerts and they always give an awesome performance. I saw 2 of their last concerts in the fall of 2019. Africa is considered the most requested song in the world. Toto has also done back-up for hundreds of other artists. Steve Porcaro (keyboards) wrote the song "Human Nature" which Michael Jackson had a hit from. Toto has said they are more than just the songs: "Hold The Line", "Rosanna" & "Africa" and they are. They are still writing music; check out: "Burn" with Joseph Williams singing lead vocal; "Till the End" (with Paula Abdul dancing) and "I Won't Hold You Back". Toto Is one of the greatest bands of all time.
Weezer does a fantastic cover of this song. In fact Weezer would be a great band to explore. Songs like Buddy Holly, Beverly Hills, say it ain't so, Sweater Song or Surf Wax America.
Love this song and your reactions. I have a friend in Kenya and I always tell her it would take the lightning to strike me away but I'm alive didn't get hit yet but heard the thunder lol
Great reaction, I love how you treat each other. Toto, yes you pronounced it right. It's like the name of the little dog on wizard of oz. I love this band. They've released well over 20 CD's it's hard to go wrong with this band. Great song suggestions below, but if you will please Check out: Georgy Porgy. Much love to you both.
This is a laid back, smooth sounding song that I heard alot when I was recently incarcerated. I would love to see Africa🌍 & the 🦁's that roam there to get photos or videos! 📸📹📱
You guys are one of my favorite love you guys XOXO from Brandi Modrak I have been a fan of yours keep up the great work I love that you play the videos
The song is about a Christian missionary. His fiance' is flying in to ask him to come back to England to get married but he has found his meaning in life by spreading the gospel and preaching the WORD in Africa. The line "Gonna take some time to do the things we never have" is telling her, I can't leave...there is still SO much left to do. It's about his passion for the LORD and the people he's teaching. It's also based on a true store that David Paich read in a Readers Digest.
Similar in sound in ways and also an amazing voice. You guys should check out Christopher Cross if you haven't already. A couple of his great songs are Sailing and Ride Like the Wind.
I love this song but after just listening to it it kinda reminds me of “lion sleeps tonight” by token, They’re completely different but idk, you two should react to it if you haven’t heard it but I a lot of people haven’t.

According to band member David Paich, the song is about a man's love of the continent Africa, rather than a personal romance. He based the lyrics around a late-night documentary with depictions of African plight and suffering.
The song's chorus is a reference to a drought Africa was experiencing at the time.
Toto "Hold the Line" and "Rosanna" are both amazing! Must watch!!!!
Nah
99 and I’ll be over you.
Hold the line 👍
This is one of the greatest songs ever made.

Rosanna is basically a 1980s West Side Story!
This is the best reaction video. You didn't interrupt the song. I will never get tired of this song.
Toto was amazing. And that is one of the most beautiful songs ever written to my ears. Absolutely Gorgeous!!!!
Africa , is exotic , pure , wild and with ancient music inheritance ! Great song!
This is one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear.
IF humanity survives the coming 150 years - this song will be hurled about thousands of years into the future as one of the GREATEST songs. PERIOD.
I love the 80s! My childhood was filled with the pop music that includes this classic and I do have it on my iPod under my 80s favorites playlist.
Just a little Oh by the Way...
Before the Band Toto was formed, the guys were Boz Scaggs "Silk Degrees" Band.

I love the theory that this song is about a guy who became a werewolf and he had to learn how to summon rain clouds to blot out the moon.
What!? That is awesome
@@tinishamccroskey7752 He sang "Frightened of the thing that I become."

This song still comes on the rock and classic rock stations.
The lead vocalist is Bobby Kimball. He also sang the theme to the original Duck Tales cartoon.

@@robertstokes6790 Yeah, you're right about the spelling. I really DO like Weezer, just not that one song.
Classic song. You GOTTA check out "Rosanna"! Also, "Hold The Line" was their original hit that broke them, another total classic jam.
