Obtaining the ostrich in the latest Stardew valley 1.5 update is quite challenging, first, you will need to find an ostrich egg and then you will need to complete the Island Field office by finding all of the fossils on the ginger island.

I had a "perfect storm" scenario that cost me an ostrich egg. I found journal scrap 10 after being in the volcano all day so I got my ostrich egg and headed home. I did not ship or farm anything that day so I had a lot of work ahead of me so I made some crab cakes for speed and went to bed. Woke up and found my egg was gone. I know I didn't ship it because I didn't ship anything so I assumed that if you cook something it will take your ingredients from your inventory before your fridge and those crab cakes were cooked with ostrich egg. Since I didn't discover that until the next morning I could not just restart my day because I made the crab cakes the night before. Even now I laugh because it was one of those things that had five different factors. Or I could be laughing to hide my pain of knowing the only way I'm going to find another one is in the volcano.
I think you can go back to previous save and restart the day before

Try going to the volcano dungeon on a lucky day, that was how I found another egg, it was in a chest. So i now have two but I can't do anything with them because I'm still trying to find the snake vertebrae’s
1 in-game year plus 2 months and I finally finished the snake..... 🤬

😔 I shipped my first ostrich egg bc I didn't think about incubating it. Trying to get another one from the volcano dungeon chests. The bat was definitely the hardest for me!

@@Imjudah- there is a bug on the switch version that makes mummified bat almost impossibly rare
Accidentally made mine into fried egg or something. still no drops in the dungeon :(

an Ostrich will produce an Ostrich Egg every 7 days

I think if you get 5 hearts with them you get one every day. I'm not completely sure but it's kind of like dinosaur

I struggled a LOT with the mummified bat. I knew exactly where to get it, but it just refused to drop! I spent in game day after in game day in the volcano trying to get the fossil. The day I finally got it I ended up with 5 bats. I still have no idea how my odds changed so drastically.

TL;DW: How to get an ostrich?
Step 1: Suffer.
Seriously, the skull and Tail were a nightmare because of Golden Coconut and panning RNG!
Also I need help if you can, I need 1 artifacts left, it’s the Prehistoric Scapula. It’s been 6 years in game and I still haven’t found it!
i find the scapula easiest in cindersap forest
i got all the fossils except the mummified bat in the first in game month or two...that at took me 3 in game years of consistantly going in the volcano untili found one, and since then i've only ever found 3 others. i made the island obelisk before ever finding a bat lol
That's rough, in my first game I never even found it
I had three vertebrae’s and sold two not knowing as needed two, and now I’m struggling with it lol
Dig in worm spots around the western spots / the house side of the map.
Snake Vertebrae bones will also drop from artifact spots on the farm land, It does not have to be south of the farm land.
Soo I didn’t know we could incubate the egg and I might of sold it not really sure what I did with it. Now what? Help.. thanks..

You are going to have to open chests in the Volcano dungeon and hope an Ostrich egg drops.

I think the ostriches lay eggs once weekly! And they’re extra awesome because they give whatever star quality mayonnaise the egg was before you put it in the machine!

Dam I can’t believe you got those stuff from the gold coconuts. I get a ton of mahogany seeds and no skulls
And every time you get a mahogany seed, it appears in sparks with the fancy sound effect as if it was something rare and fancy

How people who are just starting the game can make a lot of money 🤔. It takes a long time to earn money.😓
I think the easiest way to make decent money in the early game is by fishing and just planting as many crops as you can
It takes awhile, but as soon as you get some sprinklers up, you can really start to make big money pretty quickly

I got some a barn and a coop early and was lucky enough to get dino egg by fishing year 1 spring. Year 2 spring I made 70,000 each rhubarb harvest so 140,000 and 4-6000 each day from pigs, cows and 3 void chickens.
@@melinakun I'm on a multiplayer server so I couldn't start over when they decided to do beach farm ): but it's nice to have a challenge of not being able to use sprinklers.
I tend to focus on picking stuff off the ground when I start a new game, especially at the beach.

I'm having the same issue. I even went on a slime massacre to get the charmer ring to make the dungeons easier, but I've still had so much trouble !!
It's a bug exclusive to the switch version, the drop rate is messed up

@@xaniella4859 Nintendo might have to fix this. Since its an issue with just the switch somthing probably went wrong when converting the game to a new platform.

getting the bear skull from the golden coconut. One more mango sapling and I was going to scream. Also getting the journal scrap. I have the incubator recipe and no egg yet.
i accidently ate my ostrich egg
LOL, after I got the ostrich egg (which I never realized I had) I made my evening rounds on the farm and collected all the eggs from my chicken coop... I must've accidentally made ostrich egg mayonaise with it because I never found it after that. And digging in the same spot where I got the walnut yeilded nothing which means that I did something with it before I even knew I had it. Now, for me to get another one, I must find it in a rare chest in the volcano dungeon!

Same, I've been in the volcano dungeon till the last level for like 25 times now and still no ostrich egg
@@turritowrap6679 I eventually found one ...it's in the T2 chests in the ruins inside the Volcano dungeon. If you can just make it to them and keep checking them you'll eventually find one too.
Edit: When I originally typed this I was trying to get as many walnuts (and the ostrich egg) just as I got to Ginger Island. I found out that you have to have the "scrap paper note" first that shows you the location of the ostrich egg. After I got it, I went back and was able to get the egg.
I've opened 20 golden coconuts and still no skull 🙄

I was unsure on how to do this steps as I wanted to move forward in my animal farm (the non cbj/other mods farm) and had no idea on where to find the incubator or the egg....Your info and tips and trix videos are immensly helpful and takes a LOT of frustration out of the game, dus causing it to become a lot more fun and relaxing! Is the new volcano mine good for iridium?
It's not bad,
You can find iridium on any floor even on floor one
However, I have never seen more than two iridium nodes in close proximity
So I am a little skeptical XD
Instead, I would recommend duplicating tons of Jades with the Crystalarium and trade them for Staircases at the Desert trader
Then just skip one hounded floors and leave with all the iridium you could ever want 😂😋
If you're farming for cinder shards, you'll find maybe 5-15 iridium nuggets along the way each time, as a rough guess.
Saying that makes me want to give it a try 😂

39 shards, 2 dragon horns
7 iridium, 28 gold, 31 iron, 41 copper

This confirmed my suspicions about the snake vertebrae’s being really rare! I did the entire collection in autumn and winter then spent another spring constantly searching for the last darn snake vertebrae. In the end I got seriously bored with it and cheated it in by buying another rabbit and calling it [826]. Problem solved! 😉
Why did I finish all the fossils but didn't receive the recipe for an incubator with only banana and mango trees?

Snake spines were the hardest for me.
I had a ton of duplicates while trying to get the damn snake vertebrae 😅
I think The game mechanism that make always the last items in the collection are hard to find. At my first profile on the game, the last item in the museum is Golden Relic, and Snake's skull for the Island Field. Took me days to find 'em. And at the 2nd profile i'm playing right now are Golden Mask and Tail.
I know right!! Reminds me of those old McDonald's Monopoly game stickers. You'd have the whole board except one of each left. Lol
But when I digged at that spot, there was no egg. I had never gotten it on my last play. It was so frustrating

I was just just given ostrich egg and been saving it for when I have the incubator. i remember placing it in a chest, now looking at all of them, I cant find ittt. help, is there any other way I can check?? I'm afraid I might've put in mayo maker or cooked it even if I clearly remember putting in in one of my chestsssT^T

How do u unlock the island? Not that far i guess.
Once you finish the community center, willy will show you a boat that needs to be repaired. You repair it with battery packs and iridium bars and then you can take the boat to ginger island :)

I really struggled with the Cat Skull. It took me like, 16 golden coconuts which meant a lot of trading, tree-shaking and time skipping

For the snake body, digging isnt random so check the island every day. Once you have a dig spot on the island farm, dig it up. If you dont get the snake vertebrae then reset. Remember when I said it wasnt random? This time dig in a regular spot then dig up the worms. No body? Reset, dig two regular spots and so on. I usually wait for another day if 4-5 digs doesnt find it. But i found it pretty quick this way
