I was able to get mine out without removing the gas tank.

You don’t need to take the entire plastics off to remove the carb. Perhaps you wanted to look at other things but you can drop the exhaust off with 3 bolts and remove it out the front past the wheel. Sharing that for others to avoid that amount of work. the carb is easier to work on then. So what was the actual problem? Was the jets blocked or was their dirt just in the bottom of the carb?

Needed a new carb in the end, couple months later.

You know it’s possible to get the carburetor off without removing anything. You just need to use extensions to disconnect the bolts in the front and once you have everything disconnected, it’s a matter of twisting and turning it until it fits out the left side of the bike under the petcock valve.

Do not torture yourself just remove the exhaust bolts and pull the carb. I have a cheap Amazon carb that we run when cleaning the stock one. Swapping carbs takes 30-60mins
