I suffered from this for many years. I began using apple cider vinegar w/ the ‘mother’. I used this diluted with water. I also drank the vinegar with water and raw honey. I haven’t had any issues since using apple cider vinegar. I hope that s helps😊
I used to have that. It was worst when I got my hair straightened. What worked for me was overnight hot oil treatment with olive oil. I would wash, deep condition then apply leave in condition with oil olive and wrap my hair with plastic bag overnight. Wash olive oil out in the morning and style as usual. Also change your shampoo to selsun blue and use light oils
Hello! My flare ups get worse when I consume too much sugar or carbs. Dairy products can make it worse too. Dry fasting or water fast will help clear it up. Also, sodas and sweet drinks will make it worse. It's and inside out battle. Feed your gut healthy things and your scalp will clear up along with your body. Hope this helps and be blessed.
So growing up I was relaxed and my mama always said I had “growing dandruff” we would wash my hair once a week, grease my scalp no problem. Went natural in 2016 and did the same routine. Well one day I noticed Huge flakes in my nape. I’m like that can’t be dandruff. Finally went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed with SB 2 years ago. I was prescribed ketoconazole 2% shampoo. I used it every 5 days for 3 weeks and it really helped get my sb under control. It was to the point I could wash my hair once a month with my prescription shampoo and use my other shampoos throughout the month. My prescription was good for a year and once it ran out I thought I can get the nizoral otc. It is a less concentration of ketoconazole but I thought it would still work. For awhile it was . But I’m realizing I need the prescription shampoo again. The nizoral just isn’t strong enough for me. I’m back to getting flakes 4 days after washing my hair. And it was getting to the point with my prescription shampoo that I could go 10 days without washing my hair. I also don’t oil my scalp at all or put grease on my scalp because the oil feeds the fungus that causes the flakes. I use a scalp solution by Beas bayou skin care and fortifyed natural growth serum.
@Alexandria Russell I have the same story with my hair and hair journey. I wanted to know if you’re still natural and what hairstyles do you recommend because I have been doing two strand twist for wigs for 3 years to wear wigs and I’m tired of wigs. I’m at the point where I want to shave my head or go back to relaxers.
Mine can be horrid when it really flares up. My dermatologist says to stay away from olive oil because seborrheic dermatitis thrives on that particular oil. She recommended tea tree oil with an alternative carrier oil. Definitely change up in eating habits, which unfortunately i haven't been able to do... good luck on your journey
What I use is the peppermint and aloe tonic by design essential im trying that for now I’m currently dealing with the same issue I think I eat too much sugar …. I had this even when I had a relaxer !
My daughter is dealing with this, she’s 11. Fortunately the kids haven’t started reading her (fingers crossed). I picked up Nizoral from Target and she said her scalp felt better. I did notice not so many scabs and flakes. I really hope you find resolve, it’s such a pain in the a$$😔
What worked for me: Use non sulfate shampoo - even if doctor prescribed if it had sulfate it cancelled out healing properties. Dry your scalp - no more air drying to style, blow it out or sit under dryer Sulfur 8 once your hair is dry, once a week, oil your scalp lightly. After 4-5 months my dermatitis was gone for several years. I still only used sulfate free shampoo but my hair styling got more flexible and I stopped using sulfur8 each week. It did gradually return, so I've gone back into treatment mode.
I was diagnosed a couple of yrs ago. I scratch out my sides, some hairs grow back and some do not. Normally I break out around my hairline, back of my ears Pell, and sometimes my face around my forehead becomes scaly. I can wash my hair really well and still have flakes and skin. Mine isn’t as thick but itches like crazy and feels like burning afterwards. I noticed carbohydrates makes it worse, so I started limiting them. I will also do a juice cleanse for three days , which helps if I do not eat carbs.
I use neutrogena T-SAL mixed with astringent. I have it in an applicator bottle and distribute it on my scalp only, then I scrub my scalp in circular motions with a hand held detangler. Whatever flakes are left after I was I apply sulfur 8 or glovers medicated anti dandruff hair grease on and scratch up. I repeat this every 4 days until my scalp clears then I maintain it by applying regular scalp grease
I wish someone had told me about this when my son was around 2 or 3. He had the prettiest curly hair. One problem he would have these huge white flakes like yours and sometimes alot of times scabs in his head that would even bleed and become chunky. I ended up cutting off his beautiful locs it was just too much and it looked very painful and raw. I hope you find peace with this and something that will work. Thanks for sharing your story.
That’s exactly when I got my dermatitis is when I went natural I never had it before when I was relaxed. I do notice that use an aloe vera plant. It does give me relief for a few days, but then I still have flareups. Nothing works for me either.
It’s an autoimmune disorder. Stress and when your body is fighting a cold. And like some other people said excess sugar because it creates excess yeast in the guts. DermaZinc works wonders when applied 3 days in a row. It’s available calling it in at the pharmacy (OTC) so they can order it for you or through Amazon.
There is a shampoo called “sulfur 8” try the one in the yellow packaging instead of the blue. My sisters had that issue and it definitely help. Good luck!
I have been natural for a long time and still had this, got a perm and it stayed away for about A week I thought the perm made it go away I was excited , but nope it’s here again lol so no it’s not the perm. It’s your diet mainly usually
I had this same issue. Every 3 days I parted my hair and put the Nizoral on my scalp and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Before shampooing. I did this until my scalp was free of scaling.
What you do after all of that? After I scratch all of mine up, my scalp be super raw and it hurt to wash my hair. I was using sulfur 8 and black magic, but I felt like hair grease was causing my flakes to come quicker. After a wash day, my flakes start around day 2. I used to wash my hair every 3 days and that is just not manageable for me. But glad to see I’m not the only one with this problem. Also seems like those of us with this have a lot of hair too which makes it even more of a task to handle it.
I had the same thing, I have been using As I am itchy scalp line (blue bottle) I also use the oil. I have not had any flare ups. I have been battling this scalp issue since I was 4 according to my mom. Hope it helps! Since August of 2022 I have no flaky scalp and I am also natural (6years)
I have this same problem just got a blow out and it's so bad right now I been scratching trying to stop but it's so relieving. It itches so bad when I'm at work, work in warehouse
I have this very same issue that's why I'm on my natural hair journey.. i know you're no longer dealing with this but thanks for your video 📹 New to the channel ❤
Might sound odd but Listerine could perhaps assist. U should be able to find info on it online about that treatment. Your right diet can definitely help big time. It helped me by eating more good fats. As a moisturizer I use coconut cream and a tiny bit of raw honey mixed/ blinded together. The CC has bacteria (these bacteria are friendly) that can help dissolve build up. It washes out easily or u can leave it in. Good luck I hope u finally conquer this problem...it can be frustrating.
Have you tried doctor glovers medicated treatment 10x better than sulfur 8 it has salicylic acid and sulfur. I also put it on my acne. I swear by it and I’ve suffered from dandruff since a little girl
I have to same thing in my head isn’t that bad but it’s on my face and I hate flare up is horrendous I hate it it make u look ugly swollen I’m still trying to find something that works for me dermatologist are expensive even with insurance
Hi sweetie I can understand that you want this to stop. As mouth watering as it is watching you I pray it stops for you as well. It's one thing to watch it but going through it is something else in it's entirety. God bless you and your journey 🙏 however before you just cut it all off see a dermatologist 1st because I really don't think it's going to stop from that.❤
Please don’t scratch the flakes , it only worsens the condition. If you have insurance, see a dermatologist. I have this condition too. Topical treatments are available by prescription to stop the flaking and itching.
Hi girl! I had the exact same thing as you! The exact same pigment spots at the hair line. i started to use caprylic acid softgels! I took 2 every day for two months and now it’s completly gone! I don’t know if you used/tried this already! But i really recomment!!! I struggled with this for years! And i tried a lot of things to get rid of it! I hope this will work for you to, if you choose to give it a shot! this is the video that made me start using softgels! th-cam.com/video/PUu4GlUPyRw/w-d-xo.html Bless you❤ thank you for sharing your videos! I thought I was the only one who struggled with not only the flakes but also pigment loss😓
Honey that’s the WORSE thing you can do is scrape it off while it’s dry!!! It causes it to flare up even more plus makes your scalp extremely Raw. You need Medicated shampoo and to scrub it when washing in the Shower. For me whenever I put Any type of oil it made it worse. I have prescribed Ketoconazole Shampoo and I mix that with my Current Shampoo When washing my hair
Wait a minute you got to scratch the scalp! If you can plzzzz watch Tina Raquel's channel she's an excellent scratcher you can get alot pointers from her..😊 Anyway Good-Luck too you..
Steroid called: Clobex Ask the Dr. for both the shampoo and the lotion. S/he may think giving both is too much, but show them this video. I had this problem years ago, not so much now that I am in my 40s. My hormones are dropping, so I'm more on the dry side, but this did the trick for me when I was younger. Don't mess around with anything over the counter. It's a waste of time...your need a steroid Rx. Hope that helps!
Hi there how are you ? My son and I both suffer from the same condition. His is more severe than mine, I like you have gone to dermatologist but to no avail. I discovered hair products from The Mane Krush and honey let me tell you I have stop using the products my dermatologist suggested because that Restore line from The Mane Krush has worked wonders for our hair. I am not affiliated with the company just wanted to share with you what has helped us check them out on IG.

Really? Caffeine and dairy?
@@D3nMe yes
I also would like to note that changing your diet can drastically make a difference, especially increasing water intake.
