Hi, I have a frugal friend who just ‘gets’ me. She doesn’t think I’m tight 😂. We share Olio pick-ups. We can’t bear waste and have come up with some wonderful creations using old bread, old bananas, bags of potatoes to freeze homemade chips etc! We’ll make enough for each household (we’re both parents of ever-hungry teenagers!) and I will compost if all else fails x

Your video's are very inspirational 👏. I am regularly looking at ways to save money, while still being able to do a few things that we want to do. My husband is a huge music lover, so we have talked about visiting the Rock and Roll hall of fame. To do so, I watched for promotions for the tickets, and then searched codes for a hotel discount. We packed coolers and thermos, for our meals for the 3 days away, so we wouldn't occur any extra costs. We also trimmed our budget for 3 months to cover the costs too. But it involves planning, patience and effort. 😊

When you mentioned the garden, (it reminded me of a friend who lives quite a distance away,) who told me yesterday that potting soil went up to $50 CDN for a bag. I told her that when we move, I am taking my garden soil from the raised beds with me. We've got a fortune here.

I’m in Ontario. Was faced with the prices last year when building my garden. I found a local place where they sell in bulk. Was much cheaper. I believe $55 / yard. This year I needed regular soil to fill all the holes that my dogs had dug in the backyard. Again, went there and had it delivered. To save money I have to wheelbarrow it all into place. No yard service here lol.

I love the idea about layering! Frugality has its process. I was proud of a frugal win last week: I received a rebate from my electricity provider for participating in planned outages and I turned it around and bought a new programmable thermostat that will further cut our energy cost. I was so tickled that the electric company paid for it🎉😂

We have an 800 sf. house. No basement.
Our house is jammed pack of stocked up supplies.
    No space is wasted.
We have stuff everywhere, under the bed, dresser drawers, book cases, file cabinet drawers, etc.
    It's like a scavenger hunt 😊.

Thanks for mentioning saving for the dentist, as a nurse, I can’t even tell you how many times I hear patients say they don’t go to the dentist because they can’t afford to go. This is very sad because dental health is just as important as heart health. Very good video as usual

Oh my gosh, in the name of frugality, I checked our spending on non grocery bills, ie, insurance, electric, gas, diesel etc and it’s all doubled in the last 18 months, and I hadn’t realised, in fairness to myself, I’ve been ill and Jimmy, bless him, just pays bills without checking them or thinking about them. Thank you for getting me back on track and budgeting.

It helps to have an honest dentist and an honest car repair shop. These people are so valuable. My dentist saved me literally thousands of dollars with his wise counsel compared to a former dentist in another state. Just this past week he saved me another $440 compared to the former dentist.

I have a friend (he was a boyfriend ten years ago) that is so helpful to me. He isn't frugal but he comes over once a week and helps me to be frugal. He does some work at my place that is easy for him because of height and strength. This fellow even holds my cat so I can clip her nails and avoid that cost. Today he helped me unload my sewing cabinet and take down 2 pairs of curtains. I have a running to do list for him and I try to help him in return. It works!

Very good video, quite encouraging about finding satisfaction in ways we choose to be frugal. Today I am enjoying the abundance of wild violets growing in our lawn. They are slowly spreading -- each year there are more wild violets, despite the lawn mower cutting over them each week. Their purple flowers are very pretty. Wild violets are edible and nutritious -- and leaning over to pick them is good exercise. Wild violet flowers, leaves, and stems -- you can eat all of these. Since they don't taste like much of anything and their texture is soft, it's good to mix them in with something else and use some flavoring like salad dressing on them.

As I recently retired and moved back to Canada I am stocking (frugally) on my pantry and freezer (just bough one). Cooking, baking, canning etc. I am still within my budget (had money saved before my move). Starting May will practice Layering one thing at the time, ie pantry, freezer challenge weeks, no spend weeks and month.
Very happy getting a free desk which I sanded and painted. Organized all my art and craft supplies in its 9 drawers. Sold a few decor pieces and spent money on soil and plants for the balcony.
Once again thank both for your encouraging videos.

I struggled in the past with the costs for food, skin care, soap, laundry detergent and so on. Too long I have followed the "experts" on the internet, who always told that organic is better for me. It took time to understand that organic is not better for me. This whole thing stressed me out and THAT is the problem not the food itself. I have two autoimmune deseases and it is important to eat healthy and to cut down the stress. Now my grocery budget is the half than before!! And our savings are growing!

ATM I have built a mutually beneficial relationship with a local aborist who played to dump his chips and wood. I use chips in my garden or I use on elderly neighbours garden and I chop wood green and store for future years. I see wood as money I'm not fussy I just don't burn toxic trees. Anything that creates heat I'll take.

Brilliant advice as always. We are currently redecorating (doing it ourselves), and I wanted some replacement curtains. I was looking forward to making them myself as I have done in the past but now the cost of fabric has increased it just seems too expensive. So my mission was to find some in a charity shop that perhaps needed altering. Mission accomplished for £8.50 and I still get to use my sewing skills a little bit. A win win!
