Appreciate that ya'll recognized that kiss for what it was as soon as it happened. It's been wild seeing people losing their goddamn minds on the internet over something that's clearly just a ploy.
The real criticism is why did they decided to write that "ploy" and that scenario knowing how conflicting it is not just with the lore or what Tolkien wrote, but even with the wider interpretation of general audiences that know some but not everything about these stories... they view the relationship a certain way... The reason why the decided to do this is pretty simple and has very little to do with the story or it being "the only way" to write those scenes; the reason was purely: shock value and to elicit a reaction (a negative one and they knew it) from viewers inside of the framework of a very "amercan" dramatized way of presenting the show and those scenes... Like I said, they could had taken that story line many different ways, specially since they aren't even worried about sticking to canon, and they decided to do that... Yes, given the scenario that THEY THEMSELVES presented, it is a ploy to pass that item to Galadriel; so yes, that CAN make sense... The question is, why take it to that situation in the first place?
@@Alewaxon 🤷♂Hey, if you don't like it, you don't like it. No shade. I am curious though, how do you feel it conflicts with the lore or what Tolkien wrote? I totally understand how the idea of an actual romantic relationship between the two would very much come into conflict with the lore, given that Elrond marries her daughter, and Elves seem to mate for life. But I don't see how what actually happens - him kissing her as a distraction, seemingly without any romantic attraction on either end - does. Would love to hear your thoughts!
@@hbarz1066 My argument was actually that it conflicts, more importantly, with the perception that both: tolkien readers of the lore and semi-regular viewers know and expect of the relationship... but in reality it does conflict with how Tolkien described certain aspects of how the elves show affection and what they don't do outside of the very committed forms of marriage and "once in a life time" love... But like i said, that isn't the main issue... The main issue is perception, which is the whole basis of their decision to include that sequence of events and, after, the whole basis of a fair criticism towards that scene... THEY KNEW it was controversial and they knew WHY IT WAS CONTROVERSIAL... So out of all the ways they could had wrote these events, they chose probably the top ranking way to create controversy and shock PURELY for the sake of shock... Why do I say that? Well, i will ask you this: What does this actually do for Elrond and Galadriel's relationship progression? And I mean specifically the kiss in the mouth with the time the kiss took and the music and all of it; not him trying to save her, not him saying sorry to her for not trusting her, for being harsh on her, none of that... You could've done all of these things, that actually progress the relationship and the characters WITHOUT the kiss... Like I said, I understand that if you place yourself in a vacuum in that scene, you can argue that things make sense, that the kiss makes sense because of the ploy, that Galadriel's reaction works in some way for you, that maybe the timing of the kiss or the music don't really strike you as odd... You can make those arguments... But the problem is, WHY THO? 🤣 there are many avenues they could've taken with it and they decided for the more controversial one FOR NO REASON; there is literally no reason that backed them into a corner where they just had to write a kiss scene between those characters... They are not even constricted by lore because they simply don't seem to care about keeping it canon, so they have all the freedom in the world to write anything and they decided to lay out a series of events that ended with Elrond having to kiss Galadriel in order to slip something into her, and they did so (unless you have a more important and forgiving reasoning to give me) simply for shock value for the viewers, and not in a positive way IMO... they knew that the shock was going to be mostly negative; like I said, even outside of the hardcore lore "enforcers", there is a larger group of regular fans that view their relationship a certain way and with varying degrees of knowledge about these characters, and at best, most of them where slightly confused and kind of taken a back (like Erin) by that scene... That's my issue with it: YES, you can rationalize it; but like with many many things in the show, the question is, WHY do we have to rationalize it like this?... Yes, you can scratch your head and maybe come up with timelines to explain Elrond's movements and travels, but why do we have to wonder if Elrond has a teleportation ring that allows him to jump from a scene on lindon in previous episodes to a scene on Khaza dum to a scene on Eregion all in the same episode while the orcs have apparently been camping there for a couple of episodes already (when Elrond starting running towards Lindon)
@@Alewaxon appreciate the response. I don’t really agree with your points, but I respect your opinion. For me, it worked; I could go on about why, how it came together to make a compelling scene in my view, but that would take a while. Does the show have problems for sure but people are getting mad just to stay mad at this point. The kiss is and should Not be this serious
Canonically, the oldest elves know exactly who, and what, he is. Gil-galad, Elrond, Galadriel, Cirdan all know Sauron is a Maiar. He just disguised himself so well through sorcery and deception that he fooled the Elves a number of times throughout their history. I just wish they could give context to his being. He is way, way more powerful than he leads on and that Vickers has even eluded to in his performance.
Just a little correction: Sauron does NOT go and apologise after Morgoth gets defeated- true that he feels sorry about the destruction and chaos he helped to bring, but his pride & fear of judgment makes him decide to take matters into his own hands, believing he alone can fix everything. Also, both Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards deserve ALL the awards. Their acting is phenomenal.
He kind of does, I mean he repents out of fear, but he is told to return to Valinor and face Manwe’s judgement…. that’s when he bails and hides in Middle Earth
To answer a question asked that I doubt will be answered in Rings of Power: By LOTR the three even rings are worn by Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel. Of the seven dwarven rings, three were destroyed by dragon fire. The remaining four were recovered by Sauron to empower himself in absence of The One. The final dwarf ring was cut from Thorin’s father at the same time Thorin is undertaking the quest to reclaim Erebor. The Nine were still in possession of the Nazgûl for a time before Sauron took them back to enhance his strength and maintain control over the Nazgûl directly.
I'm hoping that we see Gil-Galad give his ring to Elrond before the end of the series, especially if (as I'm hoping) we get to see the founding of Imladris in the wake of Eregion's destruction. (Unless it's confirmed at SOME point that the Stranger is in fact Gandalf, I don't think we'll see Cirdan giving his ring to Gandalf.)

Don't forget Pharazon saw Sauron in the Palantir. My guess is he'll still be "king" and lead Numenor to Eregion and arrest Sauron. His reasoning has already been hinted at in season 1 with him mentioning that elves being indebted to Numenor would be a massive benefit. This will setup Numenor's downfall in season 3, which will likely be even darker than season 2 has been so far.
If the show runners are going to kill charackters off just like Tolkien did it in his writings. Thats a big IF. But Im sure that Durin the II. will die in the next one

Im so glad this season has been much better. They've gotten rid of all the silly mysteries we already knew the answers to that the first season relied on.
It wasn't until I watched this ep a 2nd time (at another reaction channel -- don't hate me, lol), that I noticed Sauron made a little movement with his hand (like he does later in the episode, having all the guards slay each other) that caused Celebrimbor to toss his assistant over the wall. And of course, Celebrimbor thinks it was his own doing.
Celebrimbor didn't actually toss her either! He was trying to pull his hand back away from her but Annatar basically threw her off at that exact moment making it seem like Brimby threw her.
@@SarahLandry577 It's all on our Patreon! We've got to limit the running time of these, otherwise we would just be uploading the entire Amazon Prime episode and Amazon Prime wouldn't let us do that, lol.
As agustin was saying; sauron didnattempt to make ammends by conducting a thought process on how to atain and maintain everlasting pewce throughout middle earth as recompense for the war of wrath, however, un doing so, he realised that the only way to attain such peace was through the use of the rings to subjugate the races of the realm under a totalitarian regime. This thought process led him to realise that peace and conquest were one and the same, and so he used peace as an excuse for the creation of the rings (in his mind). Worth noting that as a maiar, saurons "note" (from the music of aunir) was that of order. And so all of saurons actions are either knowing or unknowingly in the pursuit of absolute order across middle earth.
I don't want to see the last ep only because of the lore, it's gonna be emotional and I know I will be totally upset. I also think that the last ep, last scene could be the balrog.
Why didn’t the orc army try to cross either of the two bridges that had been established to connect the city to the other side of the river the orcs are attacking from? Why did Elrond’s army go into a forest and continue to fight on horse back? Why would they not relegate mounted combat to just the open field? The horses would have significantly less room to move around and just make for easier targets. Why would the orc army choose to slowly pull bricks out of the wall with the brick-pull-away-er-atron as opposed to just aiming all their catapults at a singular location on the wall until it gave way? Why would the brick-pull-away-er-atron have a jar of oil hanging off of it that would cause an explosion when one fire arrow gets shot into it? Why did the elves on the wall not try to burn the brick-pull-away-er-atron as soon as it got close to the wall? Pour oil on it from above, drop a torch onto it, Bob’s your uncle.
I liked this because it's one of the storylines I like. The issue with the show is that the storylines are so up and down. Still, looking forward to next week, it's a shame that the finale of this one will be overshadowed by the season premiere of Legend of Vox Machina!! 🙂
Fun fact: she isn’t his Mother-in-law until the third age 🤪 But also this point is moot. It was a distraction for the pin hand off, he even apologizes right before doing it. Plus, they are very dear friends, and there did seem to be a genuine goodbye in there in case anything DID happen to either of them.
I love the books but it really is almost a wasted effort trying to match up events from the books to what they are doing in the series. The rinsg weren't even crafted in this order so trying to guess how the 9 are going to get to men is 100% their own take at this point. I just go along for the ride, love the show. I love when you make fun of us lore nerds who like to post novels correcting you. We mostly just do that for ourselves; shouting into the void.
Well, remember, the actual most evil character ever in Tolkien is in god jail. Sauron was just his little bitch boy. Dude's a pretty powerful sorcerer but not an actual deity. Also even that evil deity got beat up by a big, fat spider in the books so there's always a bigger fish lol
So, are these 9 rings made entirely WITHOUT Mithril, just Sauron's blood (and other lesser metals), and this is the reason why the men are full-on corrupted (in the future when they received these rings) because of the materials used? Also, why did Adar's face looked very fake/CGI-ish at the end when he's grabbing Elrond? Was the actor not available for those scenes? His makeup looks ok on other normal shots, so this felt weird.
"This is getting Games of Thronesy", TF, NOPE, this is getting MORE LORD OF THE RINGS. That's the original, and that's what this series is based on, hence, The Lord of The Rings, Rings of Power. NONE of this series is anything alike Game of Thrones, but more like, Game of Thrones is more like The Lord of the Rings. Like, come on now. And the best part, this series doesn't have to go on cheap thrills and using sex to garner more interest. Which is fine, but I love what The Lord of the Rings stands for, and what separates this series to Game of Thrones. Like both, but they are both so different for what they are.
Love this episode! The amount of times I’ve uttered WTF in several moments in this episode alone 😩🤌 So happy to see yall’s reaction. Only reaction I need for this series 💯
The funny thing is I actually WAS hoping that the kiss was a way to transfer the Ring because the lockpick thing just felt so trite and obvious (also, it's his future mother in law so...ewwww. Yes, nerd alert).
Funny enough I’ve seen so many reactors miss the pin transferring because they were focused on the kiss, so it makes sense that the orcs and Adar are also distracted by that

Somebody get Hector a Shadowfax action figure already 😅
SERIOUSLY! haha
Not according to the sacred text! Haha that one makes me laugh 😂Loved this episode! Enjoy your reacts so much ❤
10:22 when all three get personally offended😂
thats why I love mi-amigos thres, always invested in whatever property u guys consuming
Def the real deal, right here!
Your faces when he chopped his thumb off was priceless LOL😮
Love your reaction. Adam was so funny with the "not in the sacred texts!"😂
Thank you guys. I was not going to go w/o watching your reactions. You 3 never disappoint. Augustin, shame on you for not spoiling us. 😂 til ep 8 healthy blessings
Not to spoil what's coming before this show's finale, but let's just say that a LOT of characters are going to die. And I mean a LOT.
If the show runners are going to kill charackters off just like Tolkien did it in his writings. Thats a big IF.
But Im sure that Durin the II. will die in the next one
7:09 nice Truman Show reference 🎉
thank you!
Best episode by far and thanks guys for your vids. Your channel is always one I jump to straight after watching the latest ep for your reactions.
Kudos Agustin for keeping the low-down 😆 I so cant wait to see the reaction to whats coming and how the show does things! Until next week...
Agreed. The pacing of the show has been amazing. I really have enjoyed this season!
Im so glad this season has been much better. They've gotten rid of all the silly mysteries we already knew the answers to that the first season relied on.
Celebrimbor has done so much this season that he deserves to be featured on the banner😊
😅😅😅😅
Best episode hands down !
Another real banger of an ep. Thanks for another great reaction, guys!
1:54 nice 5th Element reference 🎉
I hope to see a new bannerman soon!
Wait a minute where is Durins going to war speech !? Did yall just skip over one of the most epic moments of the episode?
Yes! Almost all the dwarf scenes
@@SarahLandry577 It's all on our Patreon! We've got to limit the running time of these, otherwise we would just be uploading the entire Amazon Prime episode and Amazon Prime wouldn't let us do that, lol.
@@hectorminator totally understand! Appreciate any reactions we get from yall
nice reaction guys . you're so funny
Brilliant episode and for me this episode solidified my opinion that The Rings of Power is the best fantasy show ( sorry Game of Thrones 😂 ).
Great reaction
Everyone delivers a good performance 👌👌
Wow, what an episode. this show can FINALLY be called GREAT!
It was always great, people just spent too much time criticizing it instead of actually watching it.
3:20 it’s been weeks actually
Awesome episode!
I don't want to see the last ep only because of the lore, it's gonna be emotional and I know I will be totally upset. I also think that the last ep, last scene could be the balrog.
Damn Adam so smart lol he called the cut away shot of Sauron in a tower and then he called Elrond giving Galadriel something so she could escape 😂
Sauron’s genjutsu is on a different level
Sauron takes back the nine from the Nazgûl after they fall so they didn’t have their rings during the War of the Rings.
yes, absolutely nobody dies in any sickeningly twisted and horrific ways. All good times from here on out!!
22:38 Only dragon fire could melt the rings (not the one tho obviously)
I liked this because it's one of the storylines I like. The issue with the show is that the storylines are so up and down. Still, looking forward to next week, it's a shame that the finale of this one will be overshadowed by the season premiere of Legend of Vox Machina!! 🙂
Fun Fact: Galadrial is Elrond's Mother-in-law
feel bad for Celeborn 😂
It was a ploy. Look at Galadriels face lol.
Fun fact: she isn’t his Mother-in-law until the third age 🤪
But also this point is moot.
Lord of the Ringer 😂😂😂
Ive been waiting for your video all day ! first comment ! YAY!
samee
His makeup looks ok on other normal shots, so this felt weird.
lmao why did adam have the same reaction as durin 19:53
Wow this was so amazing! This season is fantastic!!! This felt very LoTR
Btw, guy was wrong about celebrimbor.. thats all ima say
Did you think maybe he was trying not to spoil for the other two? Lol
ChicanOrcs
Love this episode! The amount of times I’ve uttered WTF in several moments in this episode alone 😩🤌
So happy to see yall’s reaction. Only reaction I need for this series 💯
The funny thing is I actually WAS hoping that the kiss was a way to transfer the Ring because the lockpick thing just felt so trite and obvious (also, it's his future mother in law so...ewwww. Yes, nerd alert).
Funny enough I’ve seen so many reactors miss the pin transferring because they were focused on the kiss, so it makes sense that the orcs and Adar are also distracted by that
This ep was SO huge I thought it was the Season Finale 👀 It also served as a great payoff for hanging thru the set up S1 did. The cinematic scope reminded me of my admiration for the original movie trilogy (that showed Feige how Endgame can be done IMO) 👍🏾👌🏾🤌🏾
Yo, Adam is trying to get cancled at 2:26. 🥷
🤣🤣🤣
😂
