Dredge is a 2023 indie fishing video game developed by New Zealand studio Black Salt Games and published by Team17. The player controls a fisherman, who encounters increasingly Lovecraftian creatures as he ventures out further into an open world archipelago. The game was released on March 30, 2023, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Since the birds only seem to come if you're going insane and panicked, I imagine that in reality your character IS just kinda throwing them overboard and is like "Oh no not the birds again"
That does sound prety on brand for a Kevin character. Why, i wouldnt be surprised if "going insane after falling one too many times at catching fishes" is one of the countless origins of Jim Pickens. Cause we all know all roads lead to Pickens, even the sea roads.
I can’t believe Kevin is playing Dredge! The studio that made it actually are from my city in New Zealand so it’s amazing to see a New Zealand game being played by a huge youtuber like Kevin. We don’t have a lot of game developers here so it’s amazing to see a game from my country take off. It makes me feel very proud.

What’s funnier is that the birds were so rare an occurrence for me that i have confidence it was the only time he’d ever need the foghorn😂

I've been playing this game recently and i honestly cannot make myself go out too far from the main town at night.. the "ghost ship" just freaks me out...especially when it starts chasing you...and then even more when it get close to you.
I watch a lot of video games. I do not play a lot of video games. I have horrible reflexes, a lousy sense of direction, and I am just not good at them. I play Sims 4 and even then I get lost in my Sim's houses. But I played Dredge. It took me 29 hours to finish because I just kept crashing the boat into everything. But I loved every single second of it. What an amazing game!

I remember seeing a post by (who I believe was the creator) brainstorming the idea of the game on tumblr. It was really interesting to see all these ideas come to life in this game :)
Watching him not use a light or connect being out too long at night with the bad stuff has me yelling at the screen 😂. For those who haven’t played, the light slows your paranoia but you need to rest daily to avoid that panic state. What a great game.

I played through Dredge last week and absolutely loved it. I was so happy when I saw Kevin had done a video on it!

Pro-tip (though I'll post it below in case you prefer to figure this stuff out for yourself):
The whispering red fog only gets to you when the lights are on. Turn them off and its whispers cease to reach your ears.

I am SOOOO excited to see all the big youtubers playing this game, haha. I love it SO much. The gameplay is so addicting. Horror and Simulation works unbelievably well, and I now have an insatiable desire for more lmfao

The sounds and atmosphere are very unsettling! And we also fell in the trap of entering that big fish's lair! Luckily, and idk if you noticed, he sleeps at night so it's pretty safe to go there during the night time :)

Not too fast-paced to make me lose track not too slow to get bored.
Not too repetitive to get annoyed not too many new elements introduced to lose the plot.
Not too loud to irk me enough to close the video, not too quiet to have to make an effort to hear.
Fun segments and ads inserted and not being annoying (like better call Kevin) that make sense (not just random filler content)

I can still remember when this game started out as a tumblr post, I can't believe they actually made it into a game, the crazy bastards. Loved the idea when it was circulating some time ago, and it's everything I was expecting.
I legit thought it was Moonglow Bay and was like “that’s about grief, trauma, and starting over”. Also heavy on conservation.
