Bulshit, feyenoord has more El more cups a world cup. The only thing psv has more is titles that's it. They also have a much smaller stadium. The only reason they were good was because of Phillips. Now that's over so they will decline.
Frits Philips, what a bloke - took the ceremonial kick-off aged 5, saved 382 Jews during the Second World War after himself spending several months held at a concentration camp (very Schindler-esque, convincing the Nazis they were all indispensable workers at his factory), successful chairman of one of the world's most prominent businesses, married for 63 years (why not mention that, it's impressive), and to cap it off, made his swansong at exactly 100 and left for pastures new. I'd never heard of him until tonight, but my god, what a life. 😀
And he's, to this day, probably the most loved guy Eindhoven ever had. I'm pretty sure everyone in Eindhoven (indirectly) heard about him. Never met him unfortunately, but I've never heard anything bad about him.
On 23rd april 2005 he attended a match of PSV and was presented the title trophey at the end by captain Mark van Bommel on his regular seat in the stadium
Fun fact: My grandmother once fell into a ditch with dirty water next to his house when she was young. He invited her into his house and offered her a set of clothes and a shower so she could continue her way home. He also gave her dinner and something to drink. Pure class👏🏼
1988 was a great year for Dutch football as not only did PSV win the European Cup but the Netherlands also won the Euros in Germany a few weeks later which had a huge significance due to the grandparents of the Dutch and the Germans having fought against each other so that was seen as revenge for the Dutch. 🇳🇱
@@imwinningthisone7613 they definitely are Dutch. Those in south/Flemish Brabant should be Dutch too if it wasn't for the petty religious reasons which split the United Netherlands like in Ireland between the Catholics and Protestants
5:41 Bayer Leverkusen has a similar relation with the Bayer AG corporation. The city Leverkusen, a fusion of several village to become one city, was even named after Carl Leverkus , the founder of a dye factory, that ultimately would become the Bayer Corporations. Though not popular in Germany for its Corporation link, and abroad for Bayer's dodgy role in the WW2, the relation between city, corporation and club goes a century . Fun fact : in 1988 when the Philips Sport Vereniging won the Europe Cup 1 (CL) , Bayer Leverkusen 'Werkself' won the UEFA Cup (= now Europa League). Their only international trophy, as after that they would remain Vice-Kusen !
Irish PSV fan sinds 1988, forget premier league, forget all these high paid prima donnas. Forever PSV. Great vid. Love it, I love visiting, the locals are great, great city, I want to go back soon. If im not mistaken, Fritz Philips didnt sit in a corporate box, and sat with the regular fans, and his seat is now retired? But It was pre covid last time I was there, id need a regular to clarify. You need to get to PSV V Ajax, the best games I have ever attended in any sport, pure passion. The Cruyff shall is the Eredivisie v KNVB Beker winner season opener, much like the Charity Shield. I love the centenary badge, they should have kept the laurels but, hey. Interesting about the "company team" when Philips stoped as jersey sponsor in 2016 alot of fans were gutted, including myself, as Ive every home jersey since 92, Its difficult to articulate but the Philips wasn't screen printed or stuck to the jersey 2004 but actually the black Philips lettering was as much part of the fabric of the jersey as the Rood-Witten stripes, it was quite unique. One of my fave youtube vids ever. I love this club.
@@antonquist3779 it actually was not because they won the European Cup but more Ireland were at their first Euros in 88 and drawn the same group as the Netherlands, my uncle who had gone to the tournament in Germany for the few weeks, they spent that whole time hanging out with Dutch fans, came home with a PSV scarf which I still have. Said it was the best craic he had in his life, so it became a thing, been at any amount of much stronger clubs games but Eindhoven feels so familiar now. Especially in the mid to late 90s when Ireland was in the grip of Man United hegemony, it was cool to have a different jersey.
Great content! a few remarks: 1. All the homes next to the stadium were indeed part of what is called ‘Philipsdorp’ meaning ‘Philips Town’. Philips lured employees from the East and south of the Netherlands to seinschoten by offering them housing. 2. PSV was established by Philips to offer employees a sports facility. Meaning at the start PSV only existed of Philips employees 3. If you are more into economics/business and politics, Philips has had some spin off companies including ASML. ASML is today to Eindhoven what Philips was before. The fascinating thing about ASML is that it is literally one of the most important companies in the world. It even became the USA’s main means of sanctioning/restraining China for further economic development as ASMLs chipmachines are unmatched and competitors are behind by at least 10 years!
And a Nice village is gone non existing by every piece of ground what there buying to extend, goodbye my Sweet veldhoven.goodbye my Sweet village near eindhoven.....
2. This is bullshit, PSV was established by workers of Philips and not Philips itself. It was financially supported by the Philips family and later the company itself as they wanted to encourage sporting amongst their workers and later because they saw it as good advertising for their company.
First non Dundee Utd top I owned was PSV. Back when European football (All three tournaments.) were played on the same night the highlights of the best games were on BBC sports night. The season PSV won the European Cup, the atmosphere at the games was incredible. Trying to track down a PSV top the 80's was not easy. Found one in a sportshop in Irvine, Ayrshire. I then promptly wore it to death and the annoyed boredom of my mates. Good times. Good content. 👍
When my grandfather (85) talks about our club he refers to it as Philips instead of PSV. It really is a family club, season tickets are often passed through generations, therefore staying within the family. There's a waiting list to get one. Too bad you couldn't see us beat Ajax by 3-0 last sunday. It was a great game with a great atmosphere. Thank you for visiting our city and our beautiful club!
The vibe this club gives me every match (as a card holder for 5 seasons now) is just the Family you're with. Friends share good and bad moment. But always have each others back. Like for 5 seasons New friendships grew.
The Football club was first set up for the Philips workers only. Imagine that in 1913 the company Philips already realized that physical health is linked to mental health and that this affects work performance.
hey Sam; thanks for that; I was one of the ballboys in the short clip in black and white behind the goal and worked for psv during games for another ten years before I too moved to New Zealand. Funny seeing another Kiwi in your clip here. Meanwhile PSV has won a Guinness world record for having Philips as the oldest sponsor in the world :) it's actually Philips Sport United (instead of club) ; at some stage Philips supported 25 different sportsl hence the sports united :) *Houdoe as we say; or how do, from New Zealand*
Oh!!!Yeah good friends,PSV Eindhoven is a company based team which is a majestic identity of "Philips" and ever since I was a child, they have been one of my favourite respective Dutch teams daily and ever!!!This team's history, pride and passion must be fully respected ever and long live to them, good friends!!!:-D
This might be a bit of an alien concept to the British but Philips was a company that actually cared about it's employees. It was about continuity and progress rather than profit maximalization. It took good care of it's employees in every sense and at least until they early 2000's there were students who got a few hundred euro extra from Philips because it had saved money for study allowance for all of it's employees children. Philips also got a lot of it's employees early on from the piss poor 'peat colonies' in the North of the Netherlands, an terribly empoverished part where extremely poor people lived in mud huts, low literacy, poor health, all the bad stuff. This was not just because they were willing to move for a (very) decent factory job, but also to elevate these people, with the next generations in mind. Just like there was a lot of socail housing build elsewhere in the country with private money to house and elevate the working class, he did that as an employer. Progress as a company and as a society at the same time. Sports and exercise were also part of that, also that was done by private not for profit associations. Just for the fun and non monetary benefits of it. Professional football was never self-evident in the Netherlands, the not for profit private initiative was held in high regard and there was a lot of resistance against football becoming professional in the 50's for reasons of the integrity of the game. I've always enjoyed professional football but in hindsight, they got a point. So both form the background of the PSV football club, which was just one of Philips sportsclubs, and is in no way comparable to corporate take overs. For it's first 40 years they had to perform by being more organized as a club and training better, the company money might have bought the club nice dressing rooms, it didn't give a competitive edge in the amateur sport. I also think you don't realize how huge Philips was. First in lighting, hence the special attention for the stadium lights, and later in consumer electronics. It was a global giant, probably the biggest together with Sony. Very innovative, Philips invented the audio cassette and the CD player for example, and of course used PSV for brand exposure. It was the richest club of the Netherlands in the 80's, even luring players from Ajax with HiFi sets (they made some top ones). The international connections of the Philips company also helped with getting future legends like Romario and Ronaldo to Eindhoven, of all places. I'm an Ajax fan and don't really love PSV, but I love that it's rooted in optimism, progress and not for profit cooperation.
As a PSV fan I really like how you talk about our club! Really love to hear it from other football fans so thanks a lot for this great video! New subscriber overhere😃
Thank you for doing a video on my club, Sam! Yes, we Eindhoveners are very proud of our football club, which indeed started out as a company team but eventually became independent. Philips is still one of the main sponsors though. In the Brainport style (Brainport being the nickname of our region) we have a unique shirt sponsor nowadays: instead of just one company the whole region is on the shirt now, the main companies like Philips, ASML, VDL and Swinkels Family Brewers (the company behind Bavaria beer) each sponsoring for several millions. Did you know Philips is still prominent on the shirt, featuring a seperate badge saying "Proud founders"? O, by the way... PSV is the second most succesful club in the Netherlands having won 24 league titles, 10 FA Cups, 13 Supercups, 1 UEFA Cup and 1 European Cup. It's a massive club in our country and in Belgium as well! 🙂 Also, the Philips Stadium is unique as it is right in the heart of the city centre instead of on a indstrial estate outside the city like so many clubs have nowadays.
Don't forget to mention Jumbo and also CSU (CSU is the biggest clean up company in the Netherlands) and Jumbo is sponsoring many big sportsteams/people like the best cycling team in the world: Jumbo-Visma and the team of Max Verstappen, the best Formula 1 driver in the world.
Loads of people in my family (mom's side that have been here for way longer) have been Philips employees for generations. My grandma actually used to work at Philips around 1960, her eldest daughter (my aunt) actually works there currently and is a manager at some department
Philips build our city build the lives of many families for gerations, almost everyone in Eindhoven has family that works or has worked at Philips. We owe a lot to Philip, in Eindhoven we build things together and lifts each other up in the process. Philips and psv represents that. Someone who doesn’t now much about the history may look at it as a companyclub. But we look at it as a citycompany❤️
Thanks Footy Adventures for your great video about my favourite fooball team, really enjoyed it! What we in Eindhoven are particularly proud of is that we are by far the smallest city that has won a Champions League/European Cup 1, more than Brussels, Paris, Rome, Berlin and Moscow combined ;-). Says a lot about the cooperation, inventiveness and creativity of us ''Eindhovenaren''. So, as our club anthems says: Eendracht maakt macht!
I went to eindhoven last year and done the exact same things as you've done. You're the reason I've been to alot of scottish football grounds. It's nice to see you enjoy eindhoven as I did
Great video Sam! I’m happy that you’ve done this video of my favourite Dutch football club. Greetings from 🇳🇱 I don’t live near Eindhoven but it is a great club with an awesome history. Kom op PSV! 💪💪💪🔴⚪️
Great video, and I love to see my club getting some love online. I did miss a mention of Mister PSV: Willy van der Kuijlen. With 306 Eredivisie goals Willy is not only PSV's all-time topscorer, but also leading Eredivisie goalscorer by about 50 goals. For PSV, he's almost 200 goals ahead of Coen Dillen (119) and Luc Nilis (110) (Luuk de Jong currently has 106 PSV Eredivisie goals, and will probably take 2d or 3d soon). Nobody is likely to ever reach Van der Kuijlens Eredivisie tally, since even when he played in the seventies it was rare for top talent to remain in The Netherlands. Even the greatest recent Eredivisie strikers like Ruud van Nistelrooij, Dirk Kuyt or Robin van Persie barely got half-way to 300. In my opinion, Willy van der Kuijlen is the best footballer many foreigners never heard about. His international career was limited to friendlies and qualification matches, mostly due to a feud between PSV players (vd Kuijlen, van Beveren) and Ajax players (Cruijff, Neeskens). This feud might have cost our nation dearly, since a team with all these players might have been unbeatable. He was however part of that PSV side that won the Uefa Cup in 77/78, and remains beloved by fans to this day. Willy passed away in 2021 as Mister PSV, and the Eredivisie leading goalscorer trophy is now named after him.
I can think of only one company club in Europe that is even older than PSV. They won an Uefa Cup and also reached the Champions League final. Never won the national championship though: Bayer Leverkusen, founded in 1904 as a company team of the Bayer Chemical Works. Because they only got promotion to the Bundesliga in 1979, some people think it's a relatively new club but it actually isn't.
Another great video from my favourite country! I went to a game at PSV last year, preceeded by a visit to the museum. Fascinating the positive effect that the company has had on Eindhoven (which was a small provincial town before the company really took off), and also on the world thanks to its huge range of products. The stadium and the team aren't too bad either!
Great video! You are very respectful and positive towards every club and ground you visit. I appreciate that. Maybe a option for the future, you can visit the beautiful city of Den Haag (The Hague) and make a video about the football history of the city. We have a club named HVV, currently a amateur club, who also wear a star because they won the Dutch League 10 times.(a long time ago).
I’ve been meaning to visit the team from The Hague you mentioned for a while. Was supposed to go there in September 2022 but train strikes in the Netherlands stopped me from going. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙌🏼🙌🏼
p.s.v is not bought by Philips,Philips created sportclubs so the employees had something to do.and that was not only football, atlethic sports in these days was common
Thanks for a great portrait of my city and my club Sam! You should definitely make it to a game one day mate. And while you're at it, visit the second team in town (FC Eindhoven) as well. It's a lovely little club and the rivalry between them and PSV is particularly interesting because of the dynamic between Philips and the city itself. I'd be happy to show you around a bit if you want. As for me, I'm getting ready for the cup final between PSV and that club that shall not be mentioned from Amsterdam. Come on PSV!🔴⚪️
Most people always viewed PSV as the money team funded by the rich industrials of Philips and EVV (now FC Eindhoven) as the peoples team from the city.
Amazing video, maybe I'm biased because it's my team, but really love all the info and your storytelling! Would love to see more videos like this one and you should definitely come back for a match!
PSV-Ajax is the only competitive derby in the Eredivisie. The 'klassieker' (feyenoord-ajax) is just based on both cities hating each other, but feyenoord loses something like 75% of the time and are rarely competitive for the title.
Sam I am a fairly recent subscriber and I just wanted to say how much your videos mean to me. I am truly grateful for the regular uploads as your videos truly brighten my day!👍
But wait! There is more! It's the Philips Sports Team as you called it and that is absolutely correct. There is not only PSV the football team, no, there is also athletics, badminton, basketball, Cricket, Checkers, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Baseball (+softball), Korfball, Rugby, Fencing, Tennis, Volleyball and Swimming (+waterpolo) Not all of their sportsteams became really succesfull. But...A lot of great sportsmen and sportswomen have played for the PSV sports teams. Eg. former MLB players (baseball in the USA) Rick van den Hurk & Alexander Smit. Also former NBA player Rik Smits has played for PSV (basketball). Obviously, the football team and also the swimming team are the most succesful ones. Which other sports team (certainly football team which also has other sports teams) can say that they have multiple Olympic Gold winners (and also silver and/or bronze medals) like Pieter van den Hoogenband, Mitja Zastrow, Klaas-Erik Zwering, Marcel Wouda, Inge de Bruijn, Kirsten Vlieghuis, Marleen Veldhuis, Inge Dekker, Hinkelien Schreuder, Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Chantal Groot, Sharon van Rouwendaal and also the fastest person to swim through the Strait of Dover, Ton Brouwer and another amazing swimmer (and also Olympic Gold winner) who swam the 192km long Elfstedentocht (in one time!) Maarten van der Weijden. Back to football. PSV is also one of the few teams who made it to the finals of the Premier League International Cup (the 'Champions League for u21 teams).
I think the main difference between clubs like PSV and the hated RB Leipzig is that these clubs are founded by the company to provide their workers with leisure time. They are at the basis of the football club and go all the way back to the origin of the club. I think a lot of these clubs exist, but for many of them the original company might not exist anymore or aren't directly linked to the club anymore. Whereas Red Bull simply bought already existing clubs and rebranded them, similarly to how you can buy the rights of a big American sports team and relocate and rebrand it. There's no history with the Red Bull company, which is what really is why it is hated more. In about 100 years this might have changed and people will look at RB Leipzig the same way as teams like PSV are looked at.
Loved to see this comprehensive video and how you pictured our history, I could tell you like your football classics! Too bad you weren't in town long enough to visit a home game, hopefully you'll be back again
The uefa cup trophy of 1978 once got stolen by a dutch comedian called “Theo Maassen”. He gave it back in 2001 on a television show! 🤣 you got to read the full story to understand what happend exactly
Very nice video about my club! I'm a PSV fan myself. You told the story of our club very good. Good to hear that you enjoyed the city of Eindhoven and the Philips Stadion. Will you go to the game against Ajax tomorrow?
Great video Sam! As someone who has done big things for the Northern Ireland Football League, you need to get a video up about the amazing triumph of Larne! 1st title in 134 year history
Great video once again. Come to Lyon mate, there's a beautiful brand new stadium with a great museum. You will surely enjoy it and discover French football !
Very nice video again. I think the comparison between PSV and Red Bull Salzburg etc. is not the best one. PSV was a factory team (for the workers of Philips) in the first years and people from outside of the company were allowed to join from 1928 (95 years already). So Philips was not like Red Bull a company that took over a football club or something like that. The actual start of PSV is in 1910 in my opinion as the Philips Elftal (Eleven) was formed on the 10th of December 1910. One of the reasons why this team had to stop (that's the real story) is that several of the members were sacked by Philips because of strikes organized by some of them. Strikes were often started by Socialists and Communists and the interesting thing is that Lion Philips (the grandfather of Gerard and Anton Philips, the co-founders of the Philips company) was a nephew of Karl Marx and was in close contact with him and in fact contributed money to Karl Marx several times. In that sense the Philips family had an important role in the survival of Karl Marx and the start of Communism. Maybe it's also one of the reasons why Anton Philips and Frits Philips are considered people who did business in a social way and taking good care of many of their workers. They were Capitalists but had a social heart and it seems they really cared for their workers and for PSV. Another side note: PSV's main rival is Ajax. Ajax is considered a 'Jewish club' by some but in fact Lion Philips was born Jewish (later he changed his religion to become member of the Reformed Dutch Church) and Frits Philips was recognized by Yad Vashem as 'Righteous Among the Nations' in 1996 for saving 382 Jewish people during World War II. So PSV has some strong links to Judaism as well...
You also mention that Ajax and Feyenoord are maybe more successful clubs considering the trophies that they've won. The 'maybe' was a good one because as it is true for Ajax, it isn't for Feyenoord. To compare the two by the trophies won: Europa Cup 1: both clubs won it once Europa Cup 3 (UEFA Cup): PSV won it once, Feyenoord twice Intercontinental Cup: Feyenoord won the match in 1970, PSV lost is in 1988 Dutch league (Eredivisie): PSV won it 24 times, Feyenoord 15 Dutch Cup (KNVB Beker): PSV won it 10 times, Feyenoord 13 Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruyf Schaal): PSV won it 13 times, Feyenoord 4 So if you calculate the number of prices won by both teams it is 49-36 in favor of PSV... International Feyenoord did a better job by winning two more trophies but on the national level PSV was way more successful and also ended as runners up many times.
Great video, unfortunately I missed you during your visit. Maybe you will visit FC Eindhoven next, a very small but nice club. I was lucky enough to play in their stadium recently
Don’t forget Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg who were founded by Bayer and Volkswagen. Hoffenheim are hated just as much as Leipzig because they came up through the leagues in exactly the same way albeit lesser known to people outside of Germany.
That's fantastic the story of this team and also worth mentioning Phillips are still a solid reliable electronics company, too. Had various products by them over the years, good value headphones and other gizmos. Damn I'm sounding like you with your endorsement deals here Sam haha!
I like that Philips chose not to take part in the battle of Big Tech and instead chose to focus on a niche, that being healthcare appliances. It's rare to see a company not being blinded by the illusion of endless growth.
Philips Stadium is in a beautiful location next to a residential area and a pub and coffeeshop a stone's throw away... a pity that it is not shown. That's unique in The Netherlands..
There is a big difference between RB Leipzig and PSV. The city of Eindhoven would be nothing like the city it is today, if it wasn't for Philips. Philips is an integral part of the city of Eindhoven throughout the cities history, starting somewhere back in 1890 I believe. The company brought a lot to the city in terms of jobs, but also housing, public parks, you name it. As far as I know, but please do correct me if I'm wrong, RedBull hasn't had that kind of impact on Leipzig's history.
There is a part os PSV you did not visit, wich is "de Herdgang", the training grounds and the small stadium where the youth teams play, which is to the northwest of the stadium close to the estate(de Wielewaal) where the Philips family used to live
The interesting part is that PSV, Philips SPORT Vereniging, encompasses all sports, not just football. It's just the biggest most succesful part. But throughout the city, you can find a sport with it's PSV linked background
My grandpa worked at philips he came from spain and met my grandma and she was a spanish teacher so they can understand each other, so if he didn't worked for philips i was not here haha, so philips has a history in our family
Nice story about the colours of PSV. When the meeting was to discuss the building of the sports team, they talked about which colours they should use as well. One of the guys loved the contrast between his red raspberry juice and the white of his notebook. They unanimously decided that the colours of the team should be red and white :-)
They saw their 'Gate' idea rising when Go Ahead Eagles promoted back to the top tier. Go Ahead is playing in 'the home of football', called the Adelaarsthorst. Its the footballground (yup, not a 'footballstadium') which everyone adore, but no one could ever achieve.
PSV is playing for 110 years (it's actually 112 years, because the Philips Elftal also played at the same place) at the exact same place. One of the few teams in the world with over a 100 years of history and still playing at the same spot. De Adelaarshorst is from 1920. Go Ahead played on several places before going to de Adelaarshorst.
Had a trip all planned out to visit Philips Stadion, complete with tour/museum and everything, as the US was scheduled to play a friendly there vs. Netherlands. I say "Had" because.....well, it was scheduled for March 2020, and pretty much everything shut down about a week or two before I was scheduled to fly out. Hopefully I can make it there for real and see what you're seeing! Plans on visiting other company teams like Bayer Leverkusen or VfL Wolfsburg in Germany?
Lovely to meet you Sam. Great video!
Maybe see you at King’s Lynn Town soon

When my grandfather (85) talks about our club he refers to it as Philips instead of PSV. It really is a family club, season tickets are often passed through generations, therefore staying within the family. There's a waiting list to get one. Too bad you couldn't see us beat Ajax by 3-0 last sunday. It was a great game with a great atmosphere. Thank you for visiting our city and our beautiful club!
jaaaaaaaaa het was een GEWELDIGE WEDSTRIJD
Love PSV Eindhoven would love to visit there one day
Oh!!!Yeah good friends,PSV Eindhoven is a company based team which is a majestic identity of "Philips" and ever since I was a child, they have been one of my favourite respective Dutch teams daily and ever!!!This team's history, pride and passion must be fully respected ever and long live to them, good friends!!!:-D
@Miil biased Ajax fan here 😂
Great video. PSV is a fantastic club with some real history
Well spoken, sir..as an Eindhovener and PSV fan I salute you…
Difference between the Red Bull Teams and PSV is that Red Bull bought over the teams. PSV was formed by people who were working for Phillips.
Also, philips in general has been very important for the whole city, they built neighbourhoods, schools, started shops etc.
Also, the Philips Stadium is unique as it is right in the heart of the city centre instead of on a indstrial estate outside the city like so many clubs have nowadays.
I'm moving to Eindhoven in two weeks, and I really can't wait to be part of a city with such a beautiful spirit. Go PSV!! ❤🤍
hope you enjoy your time in my city!
Welcome!
@@kelvinsepp7461 Dank je wel!
@@Deroonenthuasiast Dank je wel! I can't wait to go to the stadium!
Such a good point! Eindhoven is massive when you compare it to those other cities 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Kom op PSV! 💪💪💪🔴⚪️
Thanks very much! I hope to come back for a match soon
I am a PSV fan so I'm really glad you came here.
Loved my visit. Can't wait to come back for a game one day
@@FootyAdventures no Psv-Ajax on sunday? Or the cup final next week?
Legendary club. Forza PSV 👊🏼
Great story and the stadium looks class. 👏
They've had a great season this year
Great video!
Great video! Best Dutch club 🇳🇱 Cheers from a PSV fan!
p.s.v is not bought by Philips,Philips created sportclubs so the employees had something to do.and that was not only football, atlethic sports in these days was common
Great watch mate. 👏👏 Love to learn the history of great clubs in Europe. 🇳🇱🏆
Thanks mate. I’ll visit more big European clubs soon 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Most people always viewed PSV as the money team funded by the rich industrials of Philips and EVV (now FC Eindhoven) as the peoples team from the city.
We love you PSV❤️
Amazing video, maybe I'm biased because it's my team, but really love all the info and your storytelling! Would love to see more videos like this one and you should definitely come back for a match!
PSV-Ajax is the only competitive derby in the Eredivisie. The 'klassieker' (feyenoord-ajax) is just based on both cities hating each other, but feyenoord loses something like 75% of the time and are rarely competitive for the title.
Exactly. PSV are actually the only Dutch club with a net positive balance against Ajax.
I've had season tickets to PSV for the last 25 years, but this is the first time I actually saw the trofee room, haha
Sam I am a fairly recent subscriber and I just wanted to say how much your videos mean to me. I am truly grateful for the regular uploads as your videos truly brighten my day!👍
Thanks so much mate. Comments like your brighten up mine!
Not to forget that PSV is one of the few football clubs in the world that delivered a world cup champion in cycling (Remco Evenepoel played for PSV)
You should have mentioned the women's champions league final will be at the stadium this year! 👍
Great vid mate
Loved the video Matt. Thnx for visiting my city, hope you had a good time!
Love it mate!! Great choice visiting the beautiful Philips Stadion and city of Eindhoven!

Most beautiful club in the world 😍 Eindhoven de gekste
Nice One SAM Well Done 👍... From SCOTLAND 🏴.
Really love your Videos! I will be in Eindhoven for the women's champions league final in june 😊
Thank you for visiting PSV Eindhoven 🙏 my favourite football club..
Wow Sam - I was over last weekend and went to se VVV Venlo play FC Eindhoven in a great game. The Philips Museum is great on the company and PSV.
Very nice video about my club! I'm a PSV fan myself. You told the story of our club very good. Good to hear that you enjoyed the city of Eindhoven and the Philips Stadion.
Will you go to the game against Ajax tomorrow?
Love a bit of Dutch football
Great video Sam!

One of my dreams is to visits philips stadion...
hopefully we will be back in the ucl soon, our runs in 2005 and 2016 are my best psv football memories outside of the eredivisie titles won
2005 was simply the best
Great video once again. Come to Lyon mate, there's a beautiful brand new stadium with a great museum. You will surely enjoy it and discover French football !
I think Dutch football has more charisma and better looking football than most european leagues.
Another side note:
PSV's main rival is Ajax.
To compare the two by the trophies won:
Europa Cup 1: both clubs won it once
Europa Cup 3 (UEFA Cup): PSV won it once, Feyenoord twice
Intercontinental Cup: Feyenoord won the match in 1970, PSV lost is in 1988
Dutch league (Eredivisie): PSV won it 24 times, Feyenoord 15
Dutch Cup (KNVB Beker): PSV won it 10 times, Feyenoord 13
Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruyf Schaal): PSV won it 13 times, Feyenoord 4
So if you calculate the number of prices won by both teams it is 49-36 in favor of PSV... International Feyenoord did a better job by winning two more trophies but on the national level PSV was way more successful and also ended as runners up many times.
Even for a mega PSV fan this video is super interesting. Thank you!
Awesome to see an "outsider" (dont know what to call it haha) being so enthusiastic about PSV!
Great video Mate ❤⚽️
Your a credit to football ⚽️
Great video, unfortunately I missed you during your visit. Maybe you will visit FC Eindhoven next, a very small but nice club. I was lucky enough to play in their stadium recently
Don’t forget Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg who were founded by Bayer and Volkswagen. Hoffenheim are hated just as much as Leipzig because they came up through the leagues in exactly the same way albeit lesser known to people outside of Germany.
this video is very good. I am from Eindhoven and a big fan of PSV.
@@BrianStorm742 they have always been around but just there kicking about, get it? 😅
Thank you so much for visiting my club!

Top video🔴⚪️
Phillips had a factory in Hamilton that produced streetlights. Interesting video as always
I live in Hamilton originally from
Elderslie next to Paisley I did not know that just been asking my
Girlfriend about whare the factory was.
I am from Eindhoven myself. Great video!
Good team PSV. They were a tough team when we (Arsenal) played them in the Europa League. Our best mate Ruud Van Nizzy has done a good job! shame 😂
Love the videos in the Netherlands mate, keep it going!
Great video.
Dons legend Gillhaus won the European cup with PSV then signed for Aberdeen the following season after the arrival of Romario reduced his plying time
Philips Stadium is in a beautiful location next to a residential area and a pub and coffeeshop a stone's throw away... a pity that it is not shown.
Good luck in the cup final psv
The interesting part is that PSV, Philips SPORT Vereniging, encompasses all sports, not just football. It's just the biggest most succesful part. But throughout the city, you can find a sport with it's PSV linked background
Great vid Sam!
My grandpa worked at philips he came from spain and met my grandma and she was a spanish teacher so they can understand each other, so if he didn't worked for philips i was not here haha, so philips has a history in our family
Halvar Thoresen Psv and Norway captain in the 80s, me Norwegian fella played in his childhood club over in Norway.
The only bad thing I have to say about PSV are their colours 😂😂. I like to see them do well In the Eredivisie
Great video!
Dude, what gear are you using? What camera and microphone? Amazing video. Loved it.
