  • Pope Francis will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan from the 2nd to the 7th of July. The Pope brings a voice of peace to the two countries that have been experiencing instabilities over the years. The South Sudan mission is ecumenical, so he will join the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury and the Coordinator of the Presbyterian Church.
Three Jesuit Priests speak. Fr Kizito Kiyimba is the Superior of Jesuits in Eastern Africa (South Sudan included) while Fr Rigobert Kiyungu Musenge leads Jesuits in DRC and Angola. They reflect on the Pope's coming to their jurisdictions and the relevance of his trip. Fr Orobator is the President of Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar and he shares his experience of participating in the retreat with leaders of South Sudan and reflects on why the Pope and other religious leaders are making history by visiting the same country for the same purpose at the same time.
