Join/Inner Join = Keep only that which matches Left join = Keep every thing from left table, only matches from right table Right join = Keep everything from right table, only matches from left table Outer join = Keep everything
Seriously, why do teachers not explain it simply like this, I was so confused, they just like explained in words what join is, and then write sql and show it and then I just have no idea what happened. Great visual.
🙏!!! I desperately needed a visual explanation like this. Going to dive in your other videos and see what other magic visualizations you have up your sleeve!
Thanks for all animations and grate narration, I think we can improve on the mental model of your presentation, especially for outer joins. Inner Join 1. Cartesian product created 2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON) Left Join 1. Cartesian product created 2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON) 3. Left join (add back left table unmatched rows, assign them to null) Most important part is that every JOIN starts with Cartesian product, then some filtering + variation
I know people say this in nearly all programming/comp sci videos but yours was hands down the best explanation for this concept! I was only finding videos explaining the SQL but I am not learning that yet in my class so I didn't find it useful watching tutorials on it. Thank you so much for this detailed and thorough explanation!
Exactly, I have seen these boring theoretical explanations which make me be more confused at the end than I was at the beginning, but this explanation is just easy and so well explained.
Outstanding video. Sub'd. This was explained so well that, by about 3 or 4 minutes into the video, I could anticipate the explanation of everything coming. And that's on a topic that I had previously found confusing. Nice work. I really appreciate it!
my teacher spend literally 3 full hours trying to explain this as complicated as he could, I didnt understand a single word. 10 minute video from you and boom i got it. Thanks so much buddy!!
You made me understand this in 10 minutes, whereas I had no idea what was going on in my university lectures. Thanks lol
same!
same this side even........Universities have pro max teachers and he is just a teacher that's the reason we are not understanding anything from there
same
Yes this one cleared the doubt in only 10 min
Same here
Join/Inner Join = Keep only that which matches
Left join = Keep every thing from left table, only matches from right table
Right join = Keep everything from right table, only matches from left table
Outer join = Keep everything
Seriously, why do teachers not explain it simply like this, I was so confused, they just like explained in words what join is, and then write sql and show it and then I just have no idea what happened. Great visual.

Short, sweet and straight to the point... Great stuff!
Thanks for all animations and grate narration, I think we can improve on the mental model of your presentation, especially for outer joins.
Inner Join
1. Cartesian product created
2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON)
Left Join
1. Cartesian product created
2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON)
3. Left join (add back left table unmatched rows, assign them to null)
Most important part is that every JOIN starts with Cartesian product, then some filtering + variation
