As you talked about your lipstick traveling, I found myself wanting to see the clown mouth (as a friend, of course). I’m ornery like that, can’t help myself; I can laugh at myself too. 😊 Great video, as always.
: ) Wanting to see the clown mouth! Ha! I'm all about laughing at myself and not taking myself seriously, but a product that is chronically going outside it's defined area is a no-go for me! Thanks for watching.
@@thelipstickgalI wouldn’t want that either. I’ve had lip lines since my 20’s so I don’t wear any lipstick but I like listening to your take on it because you are so pleasant.
I was underwhelmed with LE lip balms. I do not know what I was thinking, it is a lip balm after all and I much prefer the drugstore for this category. No need to pay so much, nourishing ingredients and a bit of pigment is not expensive to produce at all.
Out of all the formulas from the brand, the balms are near the bottom for me. I like them, but they need a liner. I don't want to pair a balm with a liner. It kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion of a balm.
Yes, the LE balms were also my disappointment product of the year. I love the colors I've picked. Got 2 shades. But I regret that I didn't start with just one. Because I am not planning on repurchasing these. For me, it is the flavor, I don't like it, and I feel it is noticeable when I wear it. ( some people describe it as vanilla, but for me it smells like bad make up)
I agree with everyone in this thread. I found that I was reaching for the k-beauty lip balms more than the more expensive products this summer. Since I'm in Arizona my summer lasts way longer too so I really use this category of lip product.
Thank you for making me feel less alone in my utter hatred of the packaging for the Fenty lip mask! It frustrated me to no end, and I ended up throwing it away before I finished the product, which I normally wouldn’t do.
I am 💯 with you on the elf lip oil from the jelly pop collection. I think the color is gorgeous but the smell is horrific and makes me sick. I finally threw it out because it's not worth it to me.
Hi! Love your videos! I’d like to share a few thoughts about the Maybelline Super Stay Teddy Tint, as it is a rather misleading product. I think the mousse-like texture leads the consumer to believe it will behave like other ‘whipped’ lip products (akin to the NYX Smooth Whip Lip Cream), which is what I expected until I tried it for the first time. This product is simply a muted version of the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick, which is something I’ve wanted for a long time since I’ve always found the MSSMILL to be a bit too full-on glam for my everyday use. I use the same technique to apply the Teddy Tint that I use for the MSSMILL: (1) Apply a thin, even layer as quickly as possible. Avoid too many touch-ups, as the product begins setting very quickly and each touch-up will disrupt the setting process. (2) Ensure no product has traveled beyond the waterline because it may cause flaking issues later. (3) Give it plenty of time to dry. Avoid pressing your lips together for the same reason mentioned above. It will disrupt the setting process and will yield an unbearably, obnoxiously sticky texture. It seems fussy, but if applied using the method above, this wears all day and looks so gorgeously natural. As with the MSSMILL, lips need to be well-exfoliated prior to application, and it can be a bit drying, given the long-wear nature of the product. Just a few thoughts from one lipstick fan to another. ❤ Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much for the detailed way to apply the product. I'll have to try it again. I normally don't have patience for products that need this long to set, but I'm willing to give it another go. I really appreciate you explaining how you use it. I hope it's helpful to others as well as myself. Happy holidays!
The gently eye cream in the same packaging is even worse. I LOVE the product but it dispenses way too much and there’s no way to control it. It’s like winding up a jack-in-the-box. Turn turn turn and then BAM!
I have to admit that as a HUGE lippie lover, they are the one beauty product I am struggling with being truly happy with. I don't know if it is way formulas have evolved or what, but MAN OH MAN! When I first started wearing make-up, all I wore was lipstick and liner, and mascara so lips are soooooo important to me. I think we need to go back to the basics LOL!
I know you love a good lippie. I'm the same way. I tried so many this year. There were some great ones, and some that were terrible. I have really high expectations of lipsticks, and the price point doesn't matter. I want something that's amazing. These were the ones that bombed this year.
The same happened to me with LE lipstick “Dance card”. It sinks into my lip lines and even my husband told me with all respect do not use it because I look like a clown. Really??!! I paid almost $40 and wanna be hassle free for the money I paid 🥺
does a lip liner help? I find that I can use the LE Balms if I'm using a lip liner, but I don't always have energy to put on a lip liner. I want my balms to be easy to use, and these just weren't. The Luxuriously Lucent lipsticks work well with liners in my experience. Thanks for making the time to watch today.
@ I don’t have enough patience to use lip liners. I’m 46 and I have barely visible fine lines(yet) on my lips to use lip liners for most of the time. And I don’t like the feeling of lip liner on my skin for some reason. I love good quality lipsticks that I can wear it on the go. ❤️🙌
Yep I’m right there with you I want to take my time and enjoy the fun putting on my makeup and creating my look when I do and take the time to do the process and use the right products to make my makeup have the most longevity it can but once I’m done I better not have to touch my makeup for at least 6 hrs minimum 😆
yes! That's how I feel. I don't want to babysit any item on my face. The minute I do, I reach for it less, or get rid of it completely. Thanks for watching today.
My worst lip fail of the year was the GXVE matte lipstick. Gorgeous red, but when I opened it, the odor was terrible. It reeked of Play Doh. My only return of a lip product this year. I totally agree with you that a quality lipstick should not require a lip liner. You should be able to apply it on the go without a liner.
I didn't have a good experience with a GXVE satin lipstick when I purchased it last year. It wasn't good enough for the price in my opinion. I gave it to my daughter, and even she doesn't wear it. Sounds like your lipstick was too old. Once they start smelling like play doh or crayons, they're expired.
Thank you. I bought the LE balm. I like but not sure its worth the money. On yr recommendation ive just bought Ribbon. Wow. Its bold. Im 60 and find all my darker lipsticks go over my bottom lip making me look awful. Liners dry out my lips.....
Are you having a problem with Ribbon traveling outside where you initially place it? Is it Velvet Ribbon or the Rouge Experience Ribbon? I like the LE lip balms, but I hardly ever wear the two shades in this video. That makes me sad. I want to love them all, but . . . I don't have patience for products that travel. : (
Sadly my biggest fail was LE True Velvet in Velvet Ribbon. I bought my first ever LE lippies this year and was initially very pleased. Painterly quickly became my 'go to' for most days but some days I wanted bold. I started with the ribbon pencil and then picked up the Velvet Ribbon bullet. Imagine my dismay when I found the bullet had broken at the base while in the case! I had only worn it two other days at that point. I reached out to LE for advice and their response was, "Lisa's beautiful lipsticks are exceptionally high in pigment (containing a higher quantity than other lipsticks on the market) and this can make them more susceptible to damage during transit if not handled correctly." I had purchased through SpaceNK and LE recommended reaching out to them. I debated my options which were depotting the lipstick or returning it. I finely had to admit to myself that I was highly unlikely to use it unless it was in its original form so I bit the bullet (pun intended) and returned it. While SpaceNK refunded the purchase price I was out the $20 international shipping to send it back to the UK. Lesson learned 😔
@@barbarabanks3216 ooh, I'm so sorry. The velvets are delicate; I have all of them, and only one is broken. I wear them regularly, but I'm very careful with them. I'm glad you got your money back, but I'm sorry about the shipping. 💸
@thelipstickgal I was rather surprised at just how delicate! I never expose more of a bullet than needed for application. I did carry it in my purse so I could reapply, so there was a bit of 'traveling' involved. Not sure how/if the trip across the pond played a role? If I choose to repurchase, it will stay on my vanity so I would only use it for times I would not need to reapply. I would also buy directly from LE. I am curious about the Rouge Experience formula and waiting to see how delicate folks may find they are after they've been around for a bit. Given they are equipped for a case, they clearly expect us to carry them.
Hi! Have you tried the dries van noten lipsticks yet? I have a satin and a sheer and I just wish they had more regular colours because the formula is just chefs kiss 🥹
@ I’ve tried a couple of lipsticks over the years and I think I’m very picky 😂 I’m a smoker so it needs to survive a few cigarettes before reapplying so I hate lipsticks that disappear after just one, I hate drying lipsticks that I can’t use days after days, I hate lipsticks that highlights my dry inner parts and I hate lipsticks that makes my lip lines more visible which I didn’t even know I had. The sheer lipstick is very very comfortable like an oily lip balm with staying power graphic ochre is beautiful I’ll definitely repurchase when I’ll pan! (Basically what I wished rouge coco flash to be, it disappeared so quickly on me and the more I reapplied the more it highlighted my dry inner parts which I didn’t know it existed..) the satin is also very comfortable doesn’t travel around and just stays put for hours without drying my lips at all! I’m not sure about the colour but the formula is beautiful. My other favourite lipsticks are Hermes satin and the very very expensive Chanel one. Ive recently tried the new Lisa Eldridge and it’s beautiful and I want to love it but my lip lines suddenly multiplies 😮💨 not as bad as others but it’s not a favourite. Oh one more thing to note is that dries van noten has a scent.
@@mercedesssssz4004Thank you for the detailed review! I have a sheer DVN and a Hermes lipstick on my wishlist for 2025. Based on your description I think I will like them. My current favorite formulas are the Chanel Extrait, YSL couture and Dior Addict. I love something really hydrating but that has a thicker formula.
@@mercedesssssz4004 Thank you for sharing. I was curious lately about these lipsticks. Now your answer helped me to make decision regarding my next purchase 🙏🏻🙌❤️
Some insane prices for so called luxury but what you're paying for is packaging and a name. The Romand melting balms are much better then the Lisa ones and very cheap. Revlon lipsticks are great quality and lots of beautiful colours.
@@carolegunfield9460 I love the Romand Melting Glasting balms. They're so good! Especially for the price. I don't have many Revlon products, but I did just pick up a new Glass Shine lippie in Rum Raisin. It's stunning. Thanks for watching today.
Augustinus Bader Tinted Lip Balms ended up all in the BIN. They got rancid in record time at CHF 40 each. Also they traveled, color payoff was nice. I still am in love with Guerlain and the Hermes lip Perfector. I LOVE the texture and colors from Prada Beauty but man, the scent is just overwhelming and lingers. I am not buying additional colors until they get rid of the perfume. I love the Armani Lipgloss but it is a bit pricey for what you get. CdP are nice, but Sensai are better. Will not purchase any more from CdP.
@@sanellaaletovic1303 thanks for the run down on what lip products were the worst for you this year. I'm still hoping that I find the perfect balm that doesn't run outside my vermilion border. 🤞
I did, and it's beautiful. More moisturizing than I expected. Not as moisturizing as I'd like, but still pretty good for warmer months. Right now, I'm living in thick lip formulas that are rich and hydrating.
My worst and heartbreaking lip purchase this year was the Tom Ford lipstick. It made my lips look like I’m about 10years older. It looked wrinkly and not smoothing at all. I was so beyond disappointed to spend that much money and not love it.
Ooh, I'm so sorry. Was it the matte formula or the satin? I have 4 TF lippies, and I love them all. I can see that as I age, they probably won't age well with me, but for the moment they're still working for me. I'm sorry you spent the $50-$60 to discover that it wasn't for you. Thanks for making the time to watch.
@@thelipstickgal I believe it was the satin. I’m 39 and consider my lips to be in good condition. Not sure what it was about that lipstick, but this was the first lipstick to ever age my lips like that. I returned that and got the YSL satin, which I’m so much happier with.
I just splurged during the Sephora sale! I've had a Westman Atelier Lip Suede in my cart forever! I don't love it! My lips are dry and look about 20 yrs older.. it takes about 10 minutes! So much money for something I'll never reach for!
I was influenced to try Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment. I bought the Cocoa Crème shade. I find that it always sneaks below my lower lip edge, and I don't slather it on. If I rub my lips together, more of it travels. Mine also has a weird chemical taste which morphs into a bit sweet after a few minutes. I don't mind the sweet flavour, but the chemical flavour is bleh! It's also very shiny, which isn't my favourite finish on my almost 62-year-old lips. I still see influencers raving about it. I should just chuck it out, but it was kind of spendy.
@@hillshounds I love the pout preserve peptide treatment, but I've only tried the strawberry. I didn't notice any chemical scent, but I know artificial chocolate scents are hard to make. 🤷♀️ Sorry.
Can I just say that your thumbnail image made me laugh?! 😂 Thanks for that! It pains me to say this, but I was underwhelmed by Lisa Eldridge’s lip balm and her lux lipstick. The balm wasn’t special, and I dislike the bulky packaging of the lux lipstick. I’m hard to please…I like Valentino lipsticks but think their packaging is too cheap and lightweight! My idea of perfect lipstick packaging is substantial, but not overly heavy with a magnet closure clicks the cap shut effortlessly.
@@bonraerieger have you tried the new Valentino slim line lipsticks? I forget what they're called, but the packaging is so much better than the ones in red plastic. As for the thumbnail, that's how I felt about these unfortunate lipsticks. Thanks for watching.
lol on the ELF lip oil, I gagged with the scent and taste, gross! As soon as i showed it in a video, I threw it away! The new ones smell like the og lip oils a very light mint scent🩷
I'm so glad they stuck with the mint scent for the new stuff. I haven't purchased any elf since that lip oil this summer. It left a bad taste in my mouth. (literally) I finally tossed mine. I should've returned it, but I forgot.
Good thing I didn’t buy any of those products you mentioned. I don’t purchase that many lipsticks, but what I have purchased has been very good. Lancôme, Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury and even MAC with their yummy vanilla scents. Thanks for the review.
I like the new MACximalist matte formula, but I still need to try the new satin formula. It's been a long time since I've been a MAC lipstick fan. I love the Lancome formula along with the other brands you mentioned. My favorite is the Chanel L'Extrait. It's soo good! Thanks for watching today.
I wanted to love the LE balms so much, but when I got mine, they smelled terrible. Like old, gone off crayons. It was so disappointing. I got like 2 wears out of Sweet Fig before I had to give up on them. However the new Rouge Experience from LE is my absolute favorite formula ever. So you know, win big, lose big, I guess. 😂
I'm sorry yours smelled terrible. When that happens with LE, you should contact Customer Service for a refund. They refunded me a year after my purchase when the blushes started to come out of their packaging. They offer amazing customer service. I do love the new Rouge lipsticks so much. They're some of my favorite in my collection. Thanks so much for watching today.
It is madness to have vegan lipstick in leather case!!! I always go for vegan ones but not in leather case. Clearly this brand is trying to make only money.
I know, right? It completely boggles the mind that the vegan leather case was limited edition. They sell all their makeup items in a leather case. I don't understand it.
I have a question i am hoping you can answer and help me with. I love mostly lip balms/glosses, but i find especially with balmy type produtcs like chanel rogue coco flash, lE baume embrace, chantecaille lip veil once i have them on even for 5ish minutes a white film starts to appear. And it's not a film all over the lips, it's like a line of yucky goop. Is that my lips dead skin, or is that the lip product balling up on itself? And do you know how i can prevent it? Please, helppp, hahha. It's made me almost want to stop wearing lip products altogether. Side note: i put lip masks on my lips multiple times a day, and I also exfoliate them, they don't feel dry at all when this happens.
@@heatherLcharron I'm not sure, but I think it's saliva. 🤷♀️ If it's forming right at the edge where your lips touch, right before your lip goes from wet to dry, I think it's saliva. Now, I'm not sure. I don't have that problem with any lip products, but to avoid it, I'd make sure to keep that area free of heavy layers of product. If there's less product overall, it might help to reduce or eliminate your program. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Watching "worsts" is so much more fun than "best products of the year"! I think you're being perfectly reasonable expecting a higher priced lipstick (or any lipstick, for that matter) not to wander away from your mouth, drag and skip across the lips, or deposit patchy pigment. That's the product's one job, not to do those things! I agree with you about La Bouche Rouge -- it's a major faux pas to push a "luxury leather" case in such a supposedly eco-conscious brand. (They make an eyeshadow palette that works the same way; the leather case is a separate purchase.) In fact, if you go to their site's "Blacklist" page 🙄, one of their major no-nos is "products of animal origin". Um.... I guess the leather being "final meters of leather crafted [in a fine French tannery]" makes it okay? Mais non, that's hypocrisy at its finest. Oh, and they tout that the vegan case was created in collaboration with Stella McCartney. 🤣
@@spgard29 I just don't understand vegan lipstick in a leather case. Oxymoron. That's it. I really wanted to love the product, but it wasn't great. For that price it needs to be perfect as well as my dishes!
I want to try HOS lip balms but the shipping is $20! I love the lipsticks I have from them as they never dry out my lips but I cannot get past the $20 shipping! 🙄 🤷🏻♀️ I have had 3 of them in my cart for months. I’m waiting to need to refill the lipsticks I’m using so it spreads out the cost better 🤷🏻♀️
I like the balms, but I don't LOVE the balms. They're better than the LE ones that travel everywhere. I just wish they were a bit more nourishing. They're good, but I'm always looking for amazing.
I brought a couple Elizabeth Arden creme lipsticks a few months back for lipstick day because they were doing buy 1 get 1 free and I wanted the very 60s orange coral shades that they have since not many brands do those colours. I absolutely love the colours I got but the lipstick gets all over my teeth! It even STAINS my teeth! I haven't found another creme lipstick that does this. It drives me insane. If I blot the lipstick, apply a 2nd layer, then blot again, then I don't have any issues. But what's the point of having a creme lipstick that has a beautiful shiny finish when I have to blot it matte to not look like a crazy person when wearing it. So annoying!
Oh, I'm so sorry. I love bright, punchy colors but a lipstick that stains my teeth is just a no-go. I'm glad you figured out a way to make it work, but . . . I'd miss the shiny finish too. I stay away from lipsticks that end up on my teeth perpetually. It's not something that I normally deal with, so when a formula ends up on my teeth, I tend to skip that lipstick. What a bummer. I'm sorry. Thanks for making the time to watch today.

Hi, how they comparable to other lipsticks with satin and sheer formulas??🙌❤️
No, not yet. It's on my very large list of things to try. Thanks for watching today, and giving such an in-depth review below. It's very helpful. : )
@thelipstickgal I am interested to try the Violette FR at some point. Did you?
I did, and it's beautiful. More moisturizing than I expected. Not as moisturizing as I'd like, but still pretty good for warmer months. Right now, I'm living in thick lip formulas that are rich and hydrating.
When I get clown mouth, I am tossing it. I am trying to use up what I have. 2025 will be the year of trying new lipsticks. Have a wonderful week ❌️ ⭕️
I don't have patience for clown mouth. I'll try a liner, but after that, it get relegated to the back of the drawer.
@@hedymills1372 return it if you're able. $50 is a lot to spend on a lipstick you didn't love. I've avoided the WA lip suedes for that exact reason.
🤷♀️ Sorry.
Haha, I should have saved my fails for this video not the previous one! Anyway, thanks for trying them all so we don’t have to😀
No worries. I had too many lippies and makeup fails to put them all in one video. I had to split them up. Thanks for watching this one.
I bought the new Maybelline lip tint Friday night and returned it Saturday morning. I wasn’t impressed.
@@andreamagwood7050 me either. It's pretty awful. Thanks for watching.
@@thelipstickgal Exactly!!
I. Agree about the elf limited edition. Smelled like fake watermelon...i gave to a friend's daughter
@@CallieBahls it's terrible. Mine didn't even smell like watermelon. It was just gross. 😬
I'm sorry.
