There's plenty of club level rallycross (which is basically what rallyx is ... autox on dirt.) You don't have to do a full NASA Rallysport stage rally. (and can't until you have some experience, because TREE!!!) In fact, I learned everything about car control from club rallyx'ing. (most orgs frown on sliding your car around paved tracks.)
Josh .Nalepa I was in southern Ohio recently and idk what the landscape looks like up north but I was thinking that it would be a perfect place for a rally. Lots of rolling hills and tight turns and dirt roads
@@Ferraridude13 southern Ohio has a portion of the application mountains. If you go north west along the lake its complty flat and farmland. We have quite alot of different terriane here lol
I've got a 2013 Corolla S that I bought brand new (and by that I mean my parents bought it lol) which carried me through the last 2 years of highschool and is still going amazingly strong now at 173k miles. I want to drive it until the wheels fall off (or I get enough money to get a new daily) then turn it into a project autocross car.
All of these races can be done with the mighty Crown Vic Cheap, Solid rear axle so it's great for drag racing. 4.6 2V so you can use mustang parts on it. Use the donk lift kit to lift the car so you can fit mud tires on it and go drag racing. And because it's a body on frame design you can use the universal coilovers on it to lower them. Drifting? No problem! Any of the 4.6 3V or 2V manual transmissions can be swapped in there. It is the perfect car for every racing. Change my mind
Daniel Yang It’s good for some of that, but it’s a HEAVY car with a HEAVY engine in front. Not good for drifting, where you want your weight around the middle. And also that is probably one of the worst possible cars ever for rally.
So the racing i do is dirt oval racing. It is very expensive to get into, and very difficult to get into. Cars are custom, engines, well read up on that yourself, and speeds are high. Its an awesome atmosphere, and i highly suggest checking out a race at a local dirt track sometime. Its a very under appreciated form of racing because of how it stands.
If you're around the Austin Texas area (or, don't mind a drive) I've actually heard about a bunch of rally events over there, dude! Might be worth checking out!
A dirt cheap 90s civic with aggresive brake pads, rotors, cheap coilovers and good tire setup is a great place to start for anyone who want's to get into autocross and track days
@@thumbtak then throw a k series with a turbo in it. Of course that removes the "cheap" factor out of it but fast and cheap do not coexist in the world of tuning cars
Exactly what I did with my Integra i bought last year. Modified it for autocross and track days, hopefully soon going to add power and start time attacking 👌
Honestly I really wanna do all of them. Rally is the lowest on my list but I wouldn't mind trying it. I'm currently working on a 1st gen Mazda 3 Sedan track car. Full cage, full aero, grippy tires, etc.
I would love to get a 2004-2007 Subaru WRX and learn to do Rally Cross. Then, when I inevitably crash it I can use the parts to build a Factory Five 818c kit car and try Autocross racing.
@@-._._._-_._._.- Yeah, a 22B coupe (or more likely a clone) would be amazing and was my dream car as a teenager. Unfortunately I think I would be too afraid of crashing it to drive it competitively, and if I did ever crash it, it's not compatible with the Factory Five kit.
i traded my motorcycle for a z31, i had no idea it would end up being my dream car essentially. i love this guy. its name is fred. got lots of fun stuff to do to it. gonna make it into a racecar. lots of power and downforce and handling.
I own an 04 manual. They aren’t bad in a straight line, they handle amazing especially with coil overs. And they can drift very well. I highly recommend. Oh not to mention the cd09 trans can handle anything you throw at it.
Ryan Soltwedel only get a manual there automatics are junk and never get one with high miles those cars aren’t built well a lot of cheap plastic and they fall apart with age
what about stock car/ circle track racing? I bought a 89 240sx stock car with all the gear for 4 grand this year. Definitely the most fun I've had in a car with my clothes on
Right now i have a stock N/A 2002 Volvo S60. When i buy my first car with my own money I plan on turning my volvo into a rally-style car just to have fun on dirt trails and stuff
Would love to do a rally event with my Mitsubishi OZ Rally but I don’t wanna mess it up 😂 it’s built with full bolt-ons, forged internals and a stage 2 cam. Just don’t want to wreck my baby lol
MR2 & RX8 are my two picks for cheap Club Racers. Celica GT-S is a surprisingly good racer as well. The 2zz loves to scream all day. Just needs an upgraded oil pan to keep the pump from cavitating around extended g corners.
same. me and my friend both have cheap aw11's (his $1600 and mine $600 lol) and we set up a little course In an unplanted field (yeehaw scaansin) and it was the best thing I've ever done in a car. 69/10 first gens are better in rallycross than on the road I think because they don't need as much power and the oversteer is less sudden.
And the one he pic'd was a Turbo. Don't worry about his opinion. He is a Millennial you tuber. His familiarity of anything much before his birth is near zero.
944 turbos still fetch anywhere from 20~45k in good cond. lol DEFINATELY not making the list! apparently on the Bringatrailer auction site several have sold in '19 over $58,000, about 30% appreciation from the previous yr ('18). but honestly these cars arent very impressive by todays standards. There's plenty of club level rallycross (which is basically what rallyx is ... autox on dirt.) You don't have to do a full NASA Rallysport stage rally. (and can't until you have some experience, because TREE!!!) In fact, I learned everything about car control from club rallyx'ing. (most orgs frown on sliding your car around paved tracks.)
jfbeam depends where you are are. Where I'm at there's no rallycross for hundreds of miles
@@Ferraridude13 agreed. I live in northern Ohio and I've never heard of any rally cross races in any of Ohio lol
1:58 anyone else notice that under cylinders it says 10 lol
Wooo fast
Where did he get that engine? From a Dodge Viper
@@sethenewman4309 that would be an epic swap
All of these races can be done with the mighty Crown Vic
Cheap, Solid rear axle so it's great for drag racing.
Rally: it's a heavy, rwd boat, quite far from the ideal for a rally car.
I have one german boi
E36 is good for many sports, may lack in drags eventually rally but ive seen some of them in rallying
@@CherriPicking With good weight reduction and and better suspensions it can be great at rallying
@@danielyang263 no... It'd still be heavy and have no traction.
Daniel Yang
It’s good for some of that, but it’s a HEAVY car with a HEAVY engine in front.
One problem with rally that I discovered when I was trying to get into it: there is no rally in the US. Especially not amateur
There is in Florida, I've gone to a few places but the FIRM was the best
have you tried going with SCCA?
I've found some rallycross sprinkled here and there. But stage rally? Yeah, good luck finding that in the U.S.
If you're around the Austin Texas area (or, don't mind a drive) I've actually heard about a bunch of rally events over there, dude! Might be worth checking out!
There are all kinds of rally races up here in ohio

The 350z does really well on road courses too. Mine does a great job keeping up with heavier, more powerful cars.

ill get it v spec baby

Footage of the civic group racing is at my local track, croft circuit. Stoked it made it on donut 🍩😁
I've always liked rally and baha racing. Road racing sounds fun and intersection as well.
A dirt cheap 90s civic with aggresive brake pads, rotors, cheap coilovers and good tire setup is a great place to start for anyone who want's to get into autocross and track days
But what if they want to go fast?
@@thumbtak then throw a k series with a turbo in it. Of course that removes the "cheap" factor out of it but fast and cheap do not coexist in the world of tuning cars
Exactly what I did with my Integra i bought last year. Modified it for autocross and track days, hopefully soon going to add power and start time attacking 👌
I would love to try Autocross and Club racing with a tricked out Miata.
Honestly I really wanna do all of them. Rally is the lowest on my list but I wouldn't mind trying it. I'm currently working on a 1st gen Mazda 3 Sedan track car. Full cage, full aero, grippy tires, etc.
Time attack, with my 95 Camaro that I'm twin turbo LS3 Swapping
I would love to get a 2004-2007 Subaru WRX and learn to do Rally Cross. Then, when I inevitably crash it I can use the parts to build a Factory Five 818c kit car and try Autocross racing.
Totally agree
That's actually a good idea lol
Good choice
I would prefer a '99 impreza sport coupe, but good taste none the less.
I'm with Nolan. I love the 350Z don't @ me
They’re really good value.
You think so? I kinda think they're overpriced in the U.S., especially since the Mustang exists
@@oldred9122 well the mustang is genuinely bad compared to the 350z and especially in drifting
Toyota MR2...
POP POP POP POP POP UP UP AND DOWN HEADLIGHTS!
My 1992 Toyota celica has them too and I love them lmao
I did autocross in my Mini Cooper S. It was a lot of fun and you can find some that are pretty cheap now.

Right now i have a stock N/A 2002 Volvo S60. When i buy my first car with my own money I plan on turning my volvo into a rally-style car just to have fun on dirt trails and stuff
classic vw bug for rally wouldnt be a bad idea, RX8 for autocross, G37 sport or 370 for drift or autocross
Now that I've seen your hi-low episodes I realized that you used some of the same footage. You guys been working on that for a while, lol

I wanna do rally, i just have no clue how to get into it, i also wanna try like short circuit stadium truck racing cuz that looks fun
I’ve been thinking the same thing. I think I’m just going to find some shitter and go to a rally cross event.
