- Today I finally make a prop from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and it's made from EVA foam!
It's the classic Red Ranger Power Sword, complete with coin, as supplied by a Joe Hoard!
Plus a full crazy MMPR inspired intro parody, with all new music written by members of Dads Under Where- check them out at www.dadsunderwhere.com
In this video I take you though the steps I did to make my own Power Sword- from cutting the raw foam to final painting.

You don't know the can of worms you've opened with this awesome build. They're gonna call for the rest of the power weapons. They're gonna want all the power weapons to combine into the power blaster. They're gonna want the dragon dagger. They're gonna want saba. They're gonna want the sword of darkness. Some are gonna want the bow of darkness from the boom studios comic books. And I'm sure more than a few will want Rita and Zed's magic staves. In other words, I think you'll get to use that amazing intro quite a bit.

Okay as a person who never really cared much for Power Rangers, i can safely say without nostalgia that your version is pretty cool

Might Morphin were the first rangers i have ever seen and few years ago i watched every episode. Too bad that Zordon's era ended in season 6 but it was nice seeing alpha and others showing up in other seasons. This brings a lot of memories.

You know that's probably similar to how Toei went about making the Red Ranger's sword in the original Super Sentai show. I'd love to see you make the Green Ranger's Dragon Dagger next.

I was having a really really bad day not to get too into it but I mean I almost went into self-harm bad day I'm only 41 seconds in and I'm laughing my ass off thank you so much I needed this today
What’s fun is the original props were made using ye olde foamsmithing techniques as well, at least the screen used ones. In behind the scenes shots and footage you see the screen used weapons are made with foam rubber covered in paint so not to hurt anyone. It’s fun to spot the differences between variants of screen used and hero props as they often varied wildly, especially in early series.
If you make the helmets I'll love you forever! There are no good tutorials on youtube for Power Rangers/Sentai helmets.

I love that intro, the unique uses of the different tools you use on a day-to-day basis as Power Ranger weapons, the exacto-blade as the lightning bolt, the music. Everything just worked and I loved it, even though I never watched Power Rangers, but you looked like you had a lot if fun doing it and loved the idea of doing it. Also nice build

Odin! This build was morphenominal! The parody logo with the exacto blade instead of a lightning bolt, perfect. The music was spot on and the opening credits were a lot of fun! And the power sword turned out perfect!
I really hope this leads to making the rest of the MMPR weapons.

I actually bought plumbing calck to try make a silicone mold. Its surprising to see it actually works, also yes! The intro was amazing and I'd love to see more of anything power rangers (despite not knowing much of the show cause I wasn't allowed to watch it as a kid lmao.)

When it comes to Fictional Swords The Red Ranger's Sword is one of my favorites alongside The Master Sword, Sword of Power from Masters of the Universe, Sword of Omens from Thundercats and the Atlantean Sword from Conan the Barbarian.

Ok, this is the best intro ever! And you somehow managed to make a super toyetic weapon and make it look legitimately awesome. The only way you could have made it better is if maybe you used a more metallic red paint, but that wouldn’t really make it *that* much better because this is already just so cool. The graphite powder to marker the designs on the blade was genius, I thought you’d have a heck of a time trying to carve them by hand lol
Also Mechagodzilla as a Zord would be amazing! Lucky you lol
