How could a band with _so much_ talent, _so much_ creativity, _so much_ uniqueness be so little-known? I often ponder "who's your favorite band that you've _ever heard,_ Ricky?" Minor Threat comes immediately to mind, then SSD, Die Kreuzen (before October File, which was good, but they mellowed a bit & the album didn't blow me away), even The Germs, then lesser-known bands like Adrenaline OD, Maggott Sandwich, Amyl and the Sniffers, Stark Raving Mad, but one band stands TALL, above these all (well, maybe equal in height to Minor Threat or a tiny bit taller, I dunno, this changes regularly). That band, whom I only discovered about 3 years ago, because in the 80s me & my friends didn't think they were "hardcore" enough, and their music was a bit weird for teenage ears, and I don't even no how to write their name! Nomeansno! NoMeansNo! No Means No! I think the first one is how it's "supposed" to be written. Their the best! The greatest! The ultimate! Hardly anyone knows who they are. This comment is way too long, they're my favorite band!
I speak with no direct knowledge, just a hunch. I don't think they ever courted bigness. I think they gave themselves to the smaller crowds who invested themselves so wholeheartedly into what NMN did, conveyed, and unpretentiously "stood for." One of them was usually at the merch table and none of them looked "cool" and everything about their shows felt like you could just never ask for anything better. And if bigness did court them, I think maybe they knew themselves, the industry, and life in general well enough to know that the real magic would have probably been very diluted. Man, that shit they generated was so rare and so meaningful and so intensely beautiful and therapeutic, and it has planted so many seeds that have gone in so many directions that still feel so profound 35 years later (for me, anyway). Like, have you ever found out that somebody you recently met loves NMN with their whole soul? What were they like and how did that moment feel and what bond was formed? Would it have been the same if you and your new friend went to see NMN at a huge stadium, and paid $85 for tickets, and $30 to park, and $14 for a Budweiser and watched them from 100 miles away? Or if you were comment number 2,598 on a TH-cam video? Anyway, they're my favorite band, too, and have been since I think about 1988. I would have loved and supported them had they gotten huge because, yeah, they sure AF would have deserved it. But nothing about them ever gave the impression that that's what they wanted. They always played rooms of 200 with everything they had and there was always so much tireless love in those little venues. All that said, I can totally see how you gave them a pass for the reasons stated. I did that with different bands that I later came around to. But it warms my heart and makes me happy that you gave them another shot and that it clicked and that you watched this f'ing really amazing video and made this comment. This is also way too long ...
That was the first song that came to my ears back in the 80th. Since then NMN was definitely implemented into my DNA and I can live my live deeply contented as a SMALL PART, often ISOLATED in worldview, yet not DESTROYED!

Andy Kerr was such a bad ass he could change shirts while the cameraman wasn't looking.
And Rob could take his off and on
Incredible! Best punk band ever.
more heavy prog rock than punk i'd say...
@@cliffwebb1621 well best one of those then!
Post punk. Slint. Fugazi. nit. Pick.

My psychiatrist: What seems to be your problem?
Me: Just listen closely to this song.
Lmao 👍
Top notch! The best quality 80's video of NoMeansNo on the net.
What a gem! This cold be one of the best (if not the best) live video recordings of NMN. Thanks for posting this!
it's
overly edited but it's entertaining for sure
How fekin young are Nomeansno!
one of the best punk shows I've ever seen. Seattle 1990
Epic performance
Fantastic work
Yesmeansyes... ✌️🤣😂😅🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
The front of the audience doesn't seem to realize they're watching something pure.
guy saunders fucking a dude

NMN with Andy Kerr!!! Very intense! Late 80s.
their greatest song, thank you Andy
Very good!
so awesome
thank you!!!!!!
best video ever :)
This needs to be released!!!!!
btw I have the shirt that andy is wearing!!
Thanks heaps!
Holy crap this is good. Reminds me a bit of Black Flag and Descendents ka-BOOM!
Yup, not that far off from the weirder songs from that last Descendents record. NMN were a little less "mathematical" in their songwriting, though.
I sing this when I plug in my iphone...
Great band
great shit!
Andy was such a huge part of the appeal of NMN. They were still good after he left but not the same…
Holy Fuck.
I have this somewhere on VHS. The show has hosted by Teresa Roncon
Wow.
holy fuck.
the greatest fuck you ! song to punk rock snobbery ever .
The canadian Fugazi
No. They are their own beast.
Fugazi don't exist
They're different from Fugazi, both great bands
what is the line up ? and w ho play s w hat?
New young punk bands unfortunately never try to go in the direction of NoMeansNo.😢
I have a hard time believing the close up surfer guys were real footage.
Augsburg? Bootleg?
