Daniel a shout out from the USA. I really enjoy your videos. When using steel wool, you want to cover/ tape-off the guitar pickups. The magnets will pick up the fine steel particles and it is near impossible to clean them off. For the Maple neck on my Strat, I have had great luck with Naptha (lighter fluid). It cleans off oil and dirt, leaves no residue behind, and will not hurt the frets. It is also useful in cleaning tough dirt anywhere else on the guitar.

Thanks for such great tips. Good point about the wire wool. I think I may make a separate video about using naphtha and similar as I use something like this for general cleaning of wood during the build process, it evaporates quickly and isn't absorbed in the same way. Years a go I did a French polishing course and the furniture restoration tutor taught us to use acetic avid (or distillrd vinegar) mixed with meths. Thanks for commenting and hello back from this side of the pond.

Great video, I've always been very lazy with cleaning my guitars but I'm going to give this a go when I change my bass strings this week

Maine, USA. We can get 4-ought wool at Walmart or lumber stores or yards, it is very readily available here. Ever tried Crimson guitars oils? Very cool to hear about the bass and guitar matches.

Thanks, glad you like the idea of matching guitars. I may be wrong on the availability of 0000 wire wool then. I got some through amazon recently. Thanks as always for commenting. I'm not sure I knew you were based in Maine, I hear it's beautiful.

Hi, I have dunlop 01,02 and 65 lemon oil. My fretboard is rosewood. I’m cleaning my fretboard with when I change strings(every 1-3 month), I’m using 01,02 and every 6-7 month I’m using 65 lemon oil. Is that method true? If am doing wrong how often and how should I use my 01,02 and 65 lemon oil And if you know can you tell me what’s dofference between dunlop 02 and 65 lemon oil? Sorry if my english is not easly understandable I hope you answer me have a good day.

I'm not sure what the actual difference is. It would be chemical, but possibly they are the same and one has the lemon scent? Either way they do exactly the same job and are interchangeable, they are they to condition the fretboard and stop ot drying out. Really you only need one of them.
I think your routine is fine, some people will say that you doing it too often. Really though I would only use the cleaner in the fretboard when you change strings if it is particularly dirty, first I would try rubbing it clean with a cloth. You may not need the cleaner every time. I'm sure it is great for cleaning but also it probably isn't great for the wood to be used too often. It depends how dirty your fretboard gets.
Also you may be able to notice if the conditioner is improving your fretboard each time. If it's not making much difference then don't use it as often.
      I hope that helps.
