You can sync only the move ring without the Apple Watch. Delete any previous Apple Watches from your phone. Stop the phone from tracking by going in to health settings. Finally prioritize Garmin app in health app for all activities. It works for me. I’m using Garmin Epix gen 2. Exercise and stand rings don’t sync only the move ring syncs. Also, what a waste of time watching this video.

Thanks for the video. Can you share details or make a video on what actually syncs to Apple Health? I’m less interested in what ultimately ends up in the Fitness app. I’d like to understand if when a day’s steps sync to Apple Health from Garmin Connect, does it just sync the total or does it sync the total and when they occurred so that you can look at steps over the course of the day and understand when they were earned.

I had a similar issue - if I opened the Garmin Connect App on my phone it would sync the move activity. Problem is, it would report workouts multiple times, and report active calories every time I opened it, just adding the same number to the total every time. I'm hoping they fixed this. Did you try opening the connect app on your iPhone during this testing to sync with apple health?

I've enjoyed your videos. I have the similar issues as you and have watched some of your other content, which I appreciate. I'm stuck between keeping the ultra (had one and sold it... on a second and comparing it to a Garmin crossover). My issue between the two watches is the ultra counts way too many steps and is not as accurate running indoors on a treadmill. After around a 5 minute mile on a treadmill... my Apple Watch Ultra will usually say I'm at .8 to .85 miles, while the Garmin Crossover Solar (or my Instinct Solar 2) will hit spot on after a calibration... doing the outdoor walk/run calibration on the Apple Watch has not worked out well for me... even after re-calibration... my garmins just track better in terms of activity. I like the Ultra for a smart watch, but wearing two separate watches is just annoying at times and I only want to stick with one. So conflicting bouncing between these two platforms lol. I also like that I can access my Garmin data from anywhere I can reach Garmin Connect... the Apple Watch keeps me locked into a phone and migrating data around can be annoying, waste of time, and frustrating at times. Anywho... first world problems, but in the same vein... it's annoying. I also like to track my adventures on maps (hiking, traveling (waypoints), Stand up paddle boarding and Garmin does this well... the Apple Watch Ultra, ugh, difficult to even look up hikes on maps, etc unless you know an exact date... Another conflict, my family owns Apple Watches, I like closing rings to compete with them and encourage fitness at our own paces... but you can only do so much with standing, fitness time, and active calories. Garmin at least takes snap shots of my overall health, fitness health, and tries to interpret it for me and when to slow down with my activities. I feel like I have to interpret this data and go out of my way for it on the Apple platform... It's also nice having a selection of watches to choose from with Garmin, while Apple I'm stuck with one of two basic designs... Ultra and traditional... I do not working on amoled screens... I don't have to worry about this on the non-backlit version of Garmin watches... anywho... just reflecting out loud in text ha ha.

I totally resonate with you on connecting with family on the apple activity rings. I wear my Garmin 100% of the time and my Apple Watch for my long runs as smart watch/ Phone tbh. I downloaded strava for my mom and added that to her Home Screen on her watch when she goes on an outdoor walk or hike. So im happy with that so she has her activities load that way. I can see her movement since we are out of state. and she can see mine. Maybe an idea, hope it helps brother.

Do what I did. Sell the Ultra. I realised I did not use any of the Apple apps on the Ultra after the first month. All I did was look at the notifications. Whereas on the Garmin, from when I wake till I go to bed, I'm interacting with its widgets and boy all the data! Morning Report, Body battery, sleep quality, HRV, about 16 data points for a run (paired with an HRM pro plus sensor), another 16 or more for a bike ride (paired with power meters, speed, cadence and temperature sensors).

correct me if I'm wrong but here how it should work.
    1. Have any version of applewatch (even the oldest one or series 3)
    2. It should be turned on and within the bluetooth range of the phone
    3. Activate an activity in Garmin (work out such as running, cycling, etc)
    4. Once you end the activity and the applewatch is with in the range it would update the activity rings (as long as it is done in 24 hours)
Does this solution work even if I do not activate any activity from Garmin?
