Thanks for this simple walkthrough of patching it. Love these modders that keep old games alive. Question - Gameplay runs great. But anytime i finish a mission and it goes to the Loading Sequence where Cole is giving the Classified Briefing (Shows the Classified Folder and a video sequence) it just stutters every time. But in-game scripted feed and the regular BIK movies play fine. Its just the Classified intermissions. Have you encountered or know where I can get the fix for that? Or would that be related to using a recording app like NVidia Shadowplay? EDIT - Figured it out. You cannot start a recording while in the Main Menu or Sub Menus before starting any New Game, Save Game or Checkpoint. It will make the Classified Cole Intermissions stutter. I believe its to do with the Games Engine Changing Video Parameters and the Recording Softwares hooking onto Resolutions and neither like it when they change in the middle of recording. So that probably explains your crashing and my stuttering.
I did everything, when I launch the game it shows a white screen. It only happens when I have the Direct9 patch installed, if I play without it, it is very dark and stuff in the first mission.
I'm so sorry for such a late reply. If you haven't resolved the issue yet, may I ask what your PC specifications are and what operating system you are running?

The videos that play in-between levels act like I'm watching someone scroll through slides that look slightly different form each other and the audio does short loops in the same manor. trying the wide screen thing to see if that helps but it could possibly take days according to the steam page.
You might need to go to the Video Card Control Panel (i.e. NVidia Control Panel) go under the D3D Settings and find or Add the games exe, then find "Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias" and set it to CLAMP.

@duskmarksman3129 actually i found out what it was, the downloads on lucas' page is outdated. He has a new updated files uploaded on github, uploaded on Oct 17th. This fixed my issues.
The FMV cutscenes in this game have severe audio stuttering and run at like 0.5 fps. The actual gameplay runs great. Do you know whats going on or if theres a fix?
All I can seem to figure out is this fix on PCGamingWiki in regards to non-FMV cutscenes being choppy. www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Area_51_(2005)#Choppy_cutscene_playback

i did all this correctly i cant even get the game to run says im missing the bink32.dll whoch i downloaded put into my syswow64 folder and system 32 folder and even the game directory as the error told me to place it there and it still doesnt work says im still missing it :(
Do you have A51 downloaded on your C drive or a different drive, and what OS are you using? I'm also assuming you downloaded from the links in this video?
@duskmarksman3129 I followed all of the steps and it has changed the size of my icons and the graphics on my computer are lower. I am hoping I didn't just download a virus... is it because I created a desktop shortcut?
The reason it adjusts the size of your desktop and icons is because the game runs in a lower resolution, so when you exit the game it adjusts your desktop/icons to that resolution. It is not a virus.
@@duskmarksman3129 I honestly forgot I posted this comment, I resolved the issue with the resolution and I am having a good time playing the game that I probably should not have played so many years ago, my story of my first time playing Area 51 was I think I was 8 years old at the time and I found the game with all of our other ps2 games and was like "oh! This looks cool!" So I took the disk and asked my parents if I could play it, and they said yes (mainly because they didn't know what all was in it at the time) so I go, pop that bad boy in the PS2 and boy oh boy was I not prepared for the horror that was awaiting my 8 year old brain, but I beat the game, took a bit because I needed to take frequent breaks because of how scared I was, but I beat it.
@@-antagonistic- I'm glad you were able to resolve it, and I apologize for the length of time it took for me to respond. If I may ask, what was the issue/resolution for your problem?
If you are running Windows 10/11, yes. You can try to run it without the patches, but for most the game's shaders will be wonky, leaving you with a mostly dark game with most graphics appearing black.
thank you very much and the explanation I've wanted to try this game since childhood
got it :D thanks again and i figured it out after rewatching your video :)

If you're playing on a widescreen monitor, I believe it's required. The HD patch is for 1080p, so I am unsure about any resolution above that.
I also have a no internet connection notification when I am connected to the internet.

I will be honest, I am unsure. I may suggest taking a look at the PCGamingWiki page for A51 and seeing if there's a way to change it.

Hii !
How tow fix White screen?
Is this the same steps with the disk version? I have the CD for this game.
Possibly, some disk based games from this era require a No CD patch, Battlefield Vietnam being an example. I'm unsure if A51 does or not.
