went to the mint this weekend , got all the 5., 5.00 coins and the strike your own is the same as in this video , the staff there where great , and the food in the restaurant was very very good , the tour felt short , but well worth the visit , afterwards went into Cardiff city centre and the market was ace , magic Welsh cakes , and some great food stalls well worth the trip into town
I really enjoyed the RM trip meeting yourself and the rest. I really enjoyed going onto the factory floor this time around as I haven’t done that on previous tours. 😊 I aim to go again this year but when, I’m not sure 🤔 Looked a fantastic day in Oxford too with the wonderful Pocket Poet 😊 Great stuff Christopher 👍🏻
Thanks for the upload Christopher. Have you ever visited the Athelstan Museum in Malmesbury Wilts? One of their star exhibits is a silver penny from the time of King Athelstan. I believe it’s free to visit and you used to be able to buy replicas of the penny in the shop. All the best
Great video as always 😊 thanks to you, I have started collecting coins and posting videos as well. Planned my first trip to the royal mint experience on May 24th🎉
Hi Christopher, Great to see you at the Mint & Oxford. Hope one of the coin tubers ends up with the JRR Tolkien coin. Wouldn't that be great.! When you put the next vid up fromThe Mint can you dig out your Alfred The Great 5 pound coin so we could view it next to the magnet? Sue NZ
a stunning coin to find in ones change we may never know where it will end up Royal Mint should do this themselves to keep change in peoples pockets before we all have to go cashless i dread that day !!
Again I applaud your spending of the JRR Tolkien £2, it helps rebalance the finds that you’ve found in hunts. and what better way than to spend in an area of their work
Fork Handles Pub or Four Candles Pub? 😂 Nice to have 2 vlogs in one, but the RM one had very quiet sound. That Alfred Gem looks very good in person to what we saw on the £5 coin.
so much to collect lol im going to make the effort and travel 100 odd miles, visit the Royal Mint going to take my shades so people dont see my eyes bleed lol
Very interesting video, Christopher. My only concern is the Mint suggesting they will be "carbon neutral" by 2050. Surely the "carbon cost" of extracting the metal used for the coins can't possibly be offset by some solar panels and a couple of wind turbines can it? I get very annoyed with companies trying to con us that they are carbon neutral or that we can "offset" our own carbon footprint. The planet is falling apart around us and nobody with any power is doing anything about it. Sorry for the rant. I do enjoy your videos very much, but I hate the politics of companies trying to con us.
Should be easy for the royal mint to go carbon neutral, if they not going to be minting coins for other countries, and the coins they mint for the UK stay in long store. Can't help but think, what will they be doing?
I am a new collector, and enjoy collecting various things. But separately, I am also a Bitcoiner. Out of interest, as an avid collector of the history of fiat physical money like yourself. Do you own Bitcoin?
