  • On this trip I am riding my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro from Canada to Mexico. My route takes me down the west coast of America before crossing into Mexico and down the Baja Peninsula.
    After an uneventful ride through California, I cross the border into Mexico and was promptly introduced to the local Polícia.

    All beaches in México are public. The only hassle is that many times it is difficult to get to the beach because it is surrounded by private properties. Also some resorts act like if they own the beach and might try to get you out.

    My absolute distaste for sand, and my lack of ability to competently ride in it, has led me to recently purchase a CRF300L Rally to travel with. Picking up 500lbs plus luggage in the middle of nowhere is no beuno! I always enjoy your videos. Cheers!

      I hear ya! Trying to lift the bike in sand isn't something I'd like to do again.

    Dial your Suspension in for off-road use (front preload at max and rear as far towards minimum as possible for the weight you're carrying) so that he Rake is less steep which will help in the sand and stop the front wheel digging in. Flex at the hips to but more weight on the rear whilst standing up riding in the sand.

    Great adventure! Keep it coming! You travel very lean with less stuff. You should show us what gear you carry!

    You need the toll ticket. That’s your traveller’s insurance through the highway.

      Yeah I need that for next time. I was running out of cash quickly due to all the tolls.

    Cool road trip! Looks like a blast. So if you could remove the luggage from your bike, would that make it easier to stand it up?

      @AnthonyJoh  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sort it. It would make it lighter for sure but without the luggage the bike would lie flat and would be even harder to lift.

    cool trip - i am thinking of doing the same - and ferry to mainland in March- i have little sand experience as well and riding a heavy bike Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 with street tires - what tires are you running? was thinking of getting 50/50 tires but i doubt they would do much better in the sand - hope to avoid the sand : )are you going to take the ferry? - will watch for more - thanks for the entertaining video and info!

      I was running the Shinko 705s. With a heavy bike like that and little sand experience I would stick to the roads. I met a guy down there who dropped his BMS GS1200 and broke his ankle and he was wearing proper boots. He's actually the reason why I skipped the off road section from the San Francisco mission as it's really remote and I didn't want to risk going down.
      Yes I do take the ferry. That will be in episode 3 which will be posted soon.

      thanks - yes was planning on sticking to roads but as you noted if there's work on the road and you have to do dirt/sand detour that has me spooked a bit as my tires are new but road tires - even a 50/50 tire wouldnt help much as your tires are more aggressive than what i currently have .....look forward to seeing your next video. Thanks

    You’re either brave or nuts! Solo rider, little Spanish, and no sand experience. Congrats on completing the trip (you survived, right?!?)
