- Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you will have heard the term ‘sigma male’ thrown around a lot in the media. This rare breed of male archetype has been thrust into the spotlight in recent years, and up until then, not many people knew what a sigma male was. When it comes to male personalities, most of us have heard the term ‘alpha male’ and ‘beta male’ plenty of times before, but ‘sigma male’ was practically unknown.
The idea is that every man has unique personality traits that define his actions and make up the man that he is. We use these male personality classifications to try and understand the man in question, to categorise his actions into specific traits and tendencies, and to try to understand why he lives in the way that he does by observing his most prominent personality traits.
So what exactly is a sigma male? What are the traits that make up his personality, and more importantly, how can you try to adopt the same mindset? Very interesting, Having been to a number of business and self improvement courses putting people into a box be it Alpha or Beta or what ever box they could fit you in seemed to always come up. I could always relate to parts of the descriptions but not all and really never liked the idea of pigeon holing individuals. I do have to admit now that Sigma seems to tick more boxes for me than anything else and explains a lot. I have never liked social media and avoid it like the plague. When lock down was forced on us here in New Zealand I could not be happier apart from the thoughts of political overreach, time to myself to do as I wanted. I managed to renovate my entire house without help and loved it. My friends thought I was weird as I just disappeared of the radar to all but my tight circle of friends for months and that was only because my friends kept making sure I hadn't croaked. Now after the Covid madness is subsiding I now have the urge to sell up and buy a bolt hole in the middle of nowhere, peace oh perfect peace. So maybe I am a Sigma however I would prefer to be known as a individual that will not be put in a F in box! When it boils down to it I could be just an intelligent high functioning grumpy old bastard that likes to be left alone. Thanks for the interesting video.
I feel like I use Facebook to sort of see what's going on with friends but more so for my interests and groups, the things that I learn something from, interesting stories, of course funny things that make me laugh and to show some of the cool things I'm doing. People always complain about drama on social media, but just like in real life, I see it, don't care and scroll to something more interesting than that crap. Does anyone else do the same thing?

I can replay my life and how I outsmarted many situations without ever appear as a smart guy.

Wrong Actually you can hear me out yes you are correct some people are born with with it but very small percentage indeed. But men can definitely learn it and applying it into there life of any situation is it gonna be difficult? Of course it is it’s just like any other skills for example you want to be the best basketball player ever and go to the NBA some kids already born tall and have good height advantages etc but you of the other hand is short and gotta prove it and strive for it etc. Same thing with any other skills so men can have sigma male trait if they put into practice but people want to be “alpha”that’s what nowadays trend is. But for me I’m taking a different route and strive for becoming sigma male every trait has there pros and cons but sigma trait is good balance and make it urs.

We always speed up the playback of the video, when the audio is the main source of interest, because we don't wish to waste time waiting for the next word to be presented . Usually to 1.5 if it is a fast talker and 1.75 and above if not .

I like to dress better because I want myself to be the best version of myself but I don't care for the trend. also I find social media like facebook insta or twitter to be a waste of time and irritating. But I love youtube because I can learn a new thing everyday
So here's a little something you should understand. Sigmas, like every other type are born, not made. This current fascination with Sigmas/INTJs is kind of annoying, as it has created not only massive waves of wannabes, but has drawn a lot of unwanted attention. As such it has done a lot to devalue us, but the good news is that we really don't give a shit. We don't choose to be this way, and the idea of giving us instructions on how to be is kind of laughable. If you wish to try to describe us to others, in what you perceive us to be, good luck, we're probably not what you think we are, a lot of the time.

I did various tests and I come out as well grounded Alpha male, but when I listen to you I have the impression I am a Sigma. I guess the one thing that confuses everything in your theory is that you say a Sigma does not care about what other people think and is more absorbed in his own ego which makes it a stigma. You also say that Sigma's are rare but in some of the tests I performed it showed the amount of people who did the test and percentages and the majority of males are either Beta or Sigma and in fact Alpha males are the rare ones in some tests even less than 5% while Beta and Sigma would reach 35%. This Sigma trend is a bit all exaggerated. Maybe a Psyop to push man to be loners and stop spreading the seed and think it is cool. It is all about the war on the seed of Mankind.
The Sigma also looks a lot like Dostoevsky’s Underground Man:
The underground man is clearly in the aesthetic stage of existence that Kierkegaard explores in Either/or. The underground man states that “one’s own free unfettered choice, one’s own caprice, however wild it may be, one’s own fancy worked up at times to frenzy- is that very most advantageous advantage which we have overlooked.” He backs his belief in free will by saying that “the whole work of man” is to prove to himself that “he is a man (with free will) and not a piano key.” He notes that if twice two makes four without his will, it is an example of the lack of free will. He thereby repeatedly emphasizes the importance of his abstract freedom where he does things simply to exercise his free will.
In the Sickness Unto Death, Kierkegaard explains that man is “a synthesis of the finite and the infinite, of the temporal and the eternal, of freedom and necessity.” The components of these two parameters (the finite and the infinite) need to be in a sort of equilibrium through repeated self-reflection “grounded” in the reliance on God to abolish despair. He says that there are two forms of despair: the despair of not willing be one’s Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) own self and the despair of willing to be one’s own self.
As he explains, the despair of willing to be one’s own self, Kierkegaard uses the example of an individual suffering from vertigo to show that refusing to recognize one’s reliance on the “Power” (or God) through repeated self-reflection causes the self to be out of balance, which in turn leads to despair. So he believes that willing to be one’s own self without relating to the intrinsic God in us through defiance results in further despair. In his words, if “by himself and by himself only he would abolish the despair, then by all the labour he expends, he is only laboring himself into a deeper despair.”
To think in the box, compared to outside the box is the difference. What you innumerate is an exact example of thinking inside the box, and why you cant understand it as you see it. If you can see a Sigma as a chameleon of all types, who picks and chooses each trait based on how he wishes to live his life, and his own moralistic views, then you will gain the first points of understanding. "Dont participate, change the game."

@@harbinger88hs No, I don't think you understand what I am saying. Because if you did you would know that I am thinking outside of the box. I am analyzing this odd trend. And also I have been receiving loads of simps podcast where the male is either uncapable to get girls or just being played by a nasty girl. And these men they all speak like a Sigma or become a Sigma due to their failure of getting respect from women. No clue why yt gives me these odd recommendations. But I am a philosopher myself and a hobby anthropologist so I do get curious to know what one perspective is of the matter. It is as if the Beta uncapable to become an Alpha becomes a Sigma or a Zeta. Either not wanting to commit to the Alpha or just want to see the Alpha fall.

You then innumerated why you found as such, with impartial quotation's points of a subject to show that, and your "expertise" in the field of recognizing. Then your next point was to use these "studies" with innocuous quotes of some Shakespearean grammar to point to this fact that "Sigmas" are Betas that werent happy in their lives. Weird, considering the vase tendency of a Beta is to just follow, as it makes sense. Your entire rambling, that you thought was intelligent philosophical dialogues, is seen really as a typical Alpha tactic to discredit anything that challenges an Alphas position in the hierarchy. Much as you liken a Sigmas lone wolf mentality and not caring what others think, and being comfortable in himself, is somehow egotistical of him, and that thought alone, showed you came from inside the box. Everything you pointed out in outdated studies shows in the box thinking. I especially loved your last point, in which you likened a Sigmas ability to inwardly solve problems, as point of "laboring himself into a deeper despair". I could continue to rip apart your entire post, but I grow tired of it, as Ive shown enough examples of how one sided you are actually coming at this. I don't think that is even possible, you're either one or not.
When I was a kid I went through some serious stuff, lost my Dad and Brother when I was young, I had a tumor and was hit by a car.
I was even hit by a truck when I was about 5.
These are experiences you can't make by changing your attitude.
You'll eventually get humbled to not give a crap about material things and learn the hard way what it means to be a human.
Very true, either you are or you are not, you can not become in practice. Life has to beat you down and you have to rise up that is what makes the transformation from whatever type of man one is. I hear young blokes claiming “I am a sigma” when they live with their parents. To that I say “congratulations, Now what.”

Its not an easy path to adopt this mindset if you are not naturally wired this way. having said that....look in the mirror and ask the really hard questions about yourself. When someone reaches that point of a "sigma" mindset.... they will finally understand what it truly means to be free.

Is it weird if I think I'm both a beta and a sigma? I'm a passive person. I don't get angry easily, but I don't let people bullshit me. I'm a loner that gives 0 Frick's about anything anyone thinks. I'm not assertive unless money is involved, but I'm not a pushover. I'm very much so a people watcher. I find that more enlightening than anything.

Sigmas are not new, just have always been extremely rare. Somewhere between 1:5000 to 1:10000 real sigmas are by far the most rare and misunderstood personality type. Sigmas never live in big cities.

Think of it like this, an alpha male is a pack master who believes he has full control. A beta is happy to feed upon the scraps the alpha spares. A sigma waits until a beta oversteps the mark, provoking the attention of the alpha & then takes everything while they're all distracted.
