- Classic Game Room HD reviews DAYTONA USA for the Sega Saturn video game console. DAYTONAAAAAAAAAA, YEAH! This Sega produced arcade driving racing game was released originally in 1994 as a coin-op machine and saw its debut on the Sega Saturn as a launch title in 1995. It is an arcade racing game, not a simulation game like Gran Turismo 5 or Ferrari Challenge. Drive one of one stock car looking cars around several different tracks. Daytona USA may not have much in the way of heavy hitting graphics but it does have awesome, fun gameplay and terrific replay value. The music is insane and reminds CGRHD or BWP (Bitches with Problems) the all girl rap act from the late 80's. Rock out to the music and drive like a maniac in Daytona USA from Sega! This Daytona USA review has gameplay footage from the game showing the racing driving and pop-in with the graphics. Sega later released an enhanced version of Daytona on the Saturn. Classic Game Room HD is your source for Sega Saturn reviews and CGRHD is a Sega Saturn reviewer reviewing Sega Saturn games like Daytona USA, Radiant Silvergun and Panzer Dragoon reviews (soon... well, someday.)

Revisiting a lot of these CGR vids. So good, funny, and now scarily nostalgic. Thanks for all of them.
Still is. :3
hoping he does a DAYTONA USA 2 review
Reboot has me doing the same 😂😂
@@observer.b_e_l_l_i_s Hope the reboot will be as good as it used to be
Agreed😎
I was scrolling through old favorites and just came across this old one.
Man, I miss this show so much, hope he's doing well!
I remember yelling “DAAAYTOOONAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!” really loud in the school lunch room one day lol.
I lol’d at this comment man
Excellent
From Brazil, top ✌🏻
Not all heroes wear capes.
The intro music really KICKS ASS!!!
The lyrics in the song at the beginning speak to me at a spiritual level...
Oh man, Saturn/Dreamcast era Sega had the most amazing music. So bad it's brilliant.
Even though it always caught flak for its rough graphics, heavy pop-in and 20fps frame rate, Daytona USA has stellar, magnificent gameplay. The car handling, the steering, the aggressive computer cars, the spectacular track designs -- you'll be hard pressed to find a better arcade racer. And don't forget the horses!
+daniel thomas For 1995, Daytona looked WAY better than any PlayStation game at the time.
So its low res, Model 2 graphic sub quality was often ignored.
Fernando Pereira Yes it does. Ridge Racer has lower polygons and less colors.
+Fernando Pereira Then again
Ridge Racer has way less than 40 cars to render
+Fernando Pereira that pop-in tho.
Douglas Estep
Yeah, it was always an issue. But gameplay trumps graphics every time. Just the fact that 40 cars are on the same racetrack with zero slowdown is quite an achievement. Still, if the pop-in is too much, the Dreamcast version is easily available and looks terrific (be sure to set the steering sensitivity at 1-2 notches above minimum, though).
This game was awesome. So many great memories with this one. Great just to hear the music again.
The Dreamcast sequel is incredible, forget the port to the PS3/360, Daytona on the DC is beautiful and quick, and hard!
If i ever get rich, i'm going to buy so many arcade racing games and put them all in one room such as this and fnf.
+MrZRACER When that happens, may I come over?
I have always liked how calm your voice is! Its nice to wake up and catch this before the busy day starts!
You by far are one of the best reviewers on the net and T.V, keep up the good work my friend!
Despite only watching CGR only a few times when I was younger I can remember the intro by heart
This game made me buy a Saturn
I remember watching this video when it 1st came out. Now I'm 33 years old.
1:10 the great _Takenobu Mitsuyoshi_ of SEGA sang ALL of the vocals himself.
The guys who do Sega's music must be huge Pat Methany fans, particularly his bossa nova influenced stuff from the 80s. If you can even slightly appreciate Daytona's music, check out the album "Still Life (Talking)." It's excellent, and so out of vogue that you can pic it up on vinyl in mint condition for practically nothing.
Takenobu Mitsuyoshi was the composer of this game, and yes, it is the same guy who did "GAME OVER YEEEAH!" from SEGA Rally. He's still in the industry, performing as part of SEGA Sound Team's official band, H. and contributing to various soundtracks like Virtua Fighter 5 and Bayonetta.
He's also one of my favorite game composers ever, mostly because of this game.
5:11 Sega rally?
The music of this game isn't awful: it's so amazing that it's mindblowing.
To this day, one of the most amazing game soundtracks I've ever heard. It's weird and so super happy. It's very unique.
@@nikoforu Daydoan-ah!
they used to have the arcade version of this game at an old video store I used to frequent when I was little. (yes, when you had to rent vhs tapes from a fucking store. so archaic.) Every time you walked in the front door you were greeted by "Dayyyyytonnnnaaaaaaa!" seeing this video made me pine for the early 90s again. thank you for this nostalgic experience LK :)
DAAAYTOOONAAAA!
God, I miss it.
i dont have even this game this guy's voice has somehow soothing effect on me
"The controls in Sega Rally are..." Dude, it's Daytona USA. Has anyone else picked up on this?
Oh my GOD!! It's been nine years since I've seen this video for the first time...
I really like how they brought us a HD remaster of the original arcade game. Now if only Microsoft could add it to their library of backwards compatible titles for the Xbox One...
Cyberbrickmaster1986 Your wish was granted.
6:47 "CGR!"
We still chant it to this very day.
Almost 6 million views yet the Daytona Circuit video has 40k lol
Dhdheheishfjesjs Hollering!!!!!!
Instead he has a life of a well-off family man who lays back and plays games.
Hey, these songs are not bad, they're true classics! They bring me so good memories! :)
I really like your classic reviews, keep up the good work!
childhood memories
Revisiting CGR for the first time in yonks. Man that title sequence is such a warm fuzzy nostalgia hit now 😊
i loved this game.I got this and Panzer Dragoon one day one.
It's amazing that, back then I was stunned by the graphics and sounds of this game.
+ClutchKman Yes in 1995. Daytona blew even PS1 out of the water.
+Tornado1994 To be fair
The PS1 wasn't released outside of Japan when this game came out
Actually this was seen as a mediocre conversion when it came out in 1995
alex ojideagu Not exactly.
alex ojideagu Was there a better port on another console?
The BEST SATURN GAME EVER MADE!
when I was in high school, i worked at Tilt, an arcade chain in the midwest. the arcade cabinet for this damn game faced the redemption counter where i spent most of my time. the music was like a drill, boring into my head, slicing through my eardrums and brain, 4-6 hours a day. 8 hours if i was really unlucky. i'm shivering.
9.99$ on the psn, arcade version. Cant go wrong
And I just got it for free on the PC...You console tards truly are morons.
Emulation sucks, like your mother actually
Emulation sucks, like your mother actually
...still doesn't change the fact I play old games for free.
Got it on sale... around 30MXN. Pretty damn good fun to money ratio if you ask me, haha.
I forgot all about Classic game room. It used to be great - The go to place for retro reviews.
Seriously, the theme song has to be one of the best moments of my childhood in the mid 90s. On another note I bet there's an asshole out there that's singing "Gayyyyyytona" smh
thanks sooooooooooooo much, i once played this game on a friends pc when i was like 5! now, the other day, i was just thinking about this game. i was watching a bunch of your reviews, and this poped up!!! ive already found 2 faved old games! (this and stunt gp)
It said gentlemen start your engines because they thought only men play it. In newer games they now say Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines
BOIII3 Productions yeah cause back then in the 90s, video games were marketed towards boys however Nintendo changed this
@@myristicina. Also mobile gaming changed this. I used to work for a mobile gaming company and 70% of our players were women.
I love Daytona USA was a great racing arcade and best port Saturn was great launch game with Steering Wheel that feel like driving and racing in arcade and was my number 1 launch game of all-time on Saturn
OK OK
sky high sound best one
blue skies i see
You really tied it all together like Lebowski's rug with that last joke.
anyone remember Sega Rally Championship?
they had a whole line of 20 seats with realistic crash gyrations that happened in the seat from hydraulics to this game where you could race everyone and they had a camera to show your reaction at the Dave & Busters near me...sooo awsome
Notice they say "vu" instead of V for GAMEOVER? lol
lol, epic
It's engrish my friend.
Lol
the music is so epic. man when I first heard this music when the game started up I remember already loving the game without having even played it.
I actually searched if GLoS was a real thing
This was part of a bundle with my Japanese Sega Saturn. Best free gift ever!!!
Why does this have so many views compared to his other videos??
Because DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNAAAAAAAA
+Shaq Jacob Because of the music? But in all seriousness, it's the same reason Mark's review of Ben 10 has 55 million views, the view count attracts people. People click on because they curious why it has so many views and becomes an endless cycle where it just keeps growing.
Renard sent me here, well for the review I already love this channel...
That draw distance...wow...the Saturn was not built for this shit, lol.
+Dion Liam Elba It was put together in like 5 months on hardware the devs weren't familiar with. Not an easy feat considering the game plays pretty much arcade perfect and runs with up to 40 cars on the track.
+Phantasystar77 very true, plus they also had time to put in the different cars and Easter eggs. Amazing it came out as good as it did.
+Dion Liam Elba Yes it was.
+The Elba Don't you call Daytona USA that!
All Access Gaming Saturn rulz!
First game I ever played when I was about 4. Love this game. Still own it on the Saturn today. Might have to hook it up.
gay bonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Rets go away! (Rets go away)
stealthisname66 The limitation on the fucking saturn.
I remember finding out that if you put this disc in your car CD player, you could listen to the music from the game. We had some good laughs playing that music while driving down the road.
Ha ladies playing video games? Back in those days women barely bothered with playing games. Not until it was a trend and they found out how much attention they could get from guys for being a "gamer girl" did they start getting interested in games.
I loved this! played arcade version at the local bowling alley with my mates!!
That Game Over tune at the end makes it worth playing this game alone! xD
i've seen that game on a 17 years old arcade machine today, playing was a blast! :)
this take me way back. i use to love this game alot.
Oh man I remember playing this at the arcade and making faces at the person beside you that you're ramming into in the game.
I LOVED this game! The music alone makes this a must play. And of course, "You can take it"
I used to play this game when I was 5. Now I'm 14... this was my favorite game. I miss it :(
In most arcades where I live, there are still Daytona USA cabinets, and they're fairly common.
And they are still awesome.
OMFG!!! I herd an awesome song in an Arcade, 14 years ago and remember sort of how it went. BUT BY THE POWER OF GREYSKU... erm.... Internet I have been reunited with something that has been in my mind for oh so long. I'm overwhelmed with nostalgia!!! XD
This is one of my favorite CGR episodes largely due to the GLOS side plot.
Wow, its been 13 years!!!
i remember that i brought that datona disc to my cousin's minmart and played it (it can also play like a audio cd), and she was like "huh!! you serious?"" lol
bring back memories,
good old days.
Wow....that song brought back memories
That feeling you got playing this in the arcade...right before you started the race and the steering wheel started moving on its own...
I got a sega saturn for christmas, this and solar eclipse were the first games I owned. I spent all night till morning playing daytona... That damn music hahaa
Man, this brings back memories. I loved this game, it was one of the first real racing games that I got into. Anyone else remember how you could ride a horse, that was cool haha
And ROFL at recording the game's music and playing it on a first date. DAAAEEEEOOOOONNNNAAAA!!!!
DAY-E-TOE-NUHHH!! lol that music at the beginning was hilarious =D
Bring back Classic Game Room!

Good stuff. I too have had an affinity for the Daytona karaoke singers and actually do have all the music tracks on my PSPgo as I type this, In fact I'm going to listen to it right now. I'll be subscribing to your reviews now.
This was actually the first Saturn game I've ever played. I got the Sega Saturn by accident, and this game was in the console itself. I still have the game.
GAME OVER, YEEEEAAAAAAH! Man that brings back memories of sega rally.
The dreamcast remake of daytona was pretty awesome.
Love your reviews man! Hope you read the comments, you deserve the praise for your excellent reviews (even the old ones from when Dreamcast was new!) When I play This game on my Dreamcast I always thought that they were singing ♫♪ ♫"Gameover" "Game Ovaaa it's fun to beat (or fun to race)" ♫♪ not Daytona haha But I just bought a Saturn today with Daytona, just waiting for it to be delivered from New York and I live in San Francisco, so that will take awhile, but it's well worth the wait, right?
I want a G.L.O.S. lol.Well, Mark does it again with another wonderful review.
The "congratulations" screen tune at 2:50 actually does sound quite catchy!
Really enjoyed this at the arcade when I was a kid!
Used to play the hell out of this in the arcades back in the day!
We got this game with our Saturn back in 99' and the music was probably the best part of the game to us because sometimes we just played the game to hear the music
my first video game for Sega Saturn....AND IT STILL ROCKS!! ...plus it had a horse!
I finally ordered a Saturn! It's coming with a few games, easily the most interesting of which is Daytona. Very excited, I am ^_^
Yeah, Daytona! THIS was the first game I had for my PC when I was about 3 or 4 years old, and it was a blast, me and my brother always used to play it. BTW, you should do a review of Daytona USA CCE including a side by side comparison between the US/PAL and the Japanese version
At the time of Daytona USA's Saturn release, this was the closest you got to the arcade version.
god only seems like yesterday when i used to play this in arcades when i was 5, about 15 years ago! classic game
at 3:27 you said the music was real, but it isnt. "Sega synethyzed the songs with a Yamaha sound chip, including the drums and Mitsuyoshi's voice" so it was all a synth, even the voice. YEA!! I still love this music. brings back good memories.
Daytona Championship Circuit came out not to long after this one released and it was much improved. 2 new courses were added and both were great. Most of the pop up was gone and the game play was much smoother. It was one of the best Saturn games ever.
ahh this game brings back such memories as a little kid for me.
I own Daytona CE. Interesting fact- it was one of the launch titles for Sega's fledgling Sega Net modem add on, which predated the Dreamcast's online service, thus making it one of the very first console games playable online.
Awesome thanks
Brings back good memories- thanks :)
Gotta love the music whether u like it or not it's what makes the game unique
I love the music in this game. I remember this from the Arcade!
This game came with my Saturn, my then girlfriend loved the music :-) I also picked up Clockwork Knight and Panzer Dragoon. Good times.
I will never unhear that..... ever...
Wow, that opening song brings back memories.
I love the music from not only this game but for the Dreamcast version as well.
One of my favourite arcade games of all time.
I never played Sega Saturn and Arcade version, but I love this game on Sega Dreamcast - it's a little mess with controls for beginning but if You get it, that game and that tracks are sooooo cool!!! Love it :)
