    Your voice is sooooooo soothing!!!! I love the energy you give off. You’re so right “do what you want to do”. I can not stand when ppl try and talk you out of your path. My same goal is also to become a CRNA. Thank you for the video! Goodluck on your journey!

    Thank you so much girl, you are AMAZING! Seriously, thank you for this advice! Someone told me the same thing and that I should work in med-surg first before going to the SICU. I was a nurse assistant on a med-surg floor for 6 months and then transitioned to the ED and was there for 8 months, so I least experienced those environments. I hated med-surg but loved the ER, and was always passionated about critical care so I knew that specifically SICU would be for me. 💪🏻

    Yeah the ICU is definitely not for everyone... you need to be confident, ready to learn & not shy away from new experiences.

    I totally agree! I started fresh out of nursing school but I also interned a summer during nursing school! I’ve been in almost a year! I knew before I started nursing school as well! ❤️❤️

    I worked in CTCIU/Stepdown for over 5 years before transitioning to Rehab a year ago because of my flexibility to attend school. I have always wanted to work in CTICU and many people have discourage me and think it is best to start on medsurg which I've been considering and thought would be best for me. But after watching your video I am definitely going straight for it. I graduate in May if God willing.

    Thank you so much for the positive vibes. I have been an ER tech for 8 yrs & I want to do ICU as a new grad RN and almost everybody seems to have a negative opinion about it.

      @Jermaine Mueller consider an externship in the icu and doing your preceptor/capstone in the icu. Did that and literally scored the job two months before graduation!!! Just make sure that the experience is relevant to the specific icu u are interested in !

    Such a motivational video, thanks for uploading! A piece of advice I’m always hearing is that getting a job as a PCA/tech on an ICU is very beneficial. By the time I graduate in December, I’ll have over a year and half experience as a PCA, but in oncology (I got this job before school). My accelerated program doesn’t offer capstones or anything like that. Do you think not having direct experience in an ICU hurts my chances?

    What advice would you give to someone who is going to have their preceptorship in the ICU? What information is vital to know before getting onto the floor (assessments, labs, meds, etc.) Thank you!

    I am also wanting to be a CRNA, and I want to work the ICU, and I know I liked it after clinicals. I have passed the NCLEX. I am willing to work every weekend. I can not stay up over nights. I am not about to push myself like that and risk losing a license and patient r/t this. What is your view on that. I personally think i am being very flexible with the weekend thing. I know there are a ton of nurses who complain about weekends, and furthermore I know there are alot of nurses who like the over nights. I also do not think it's okay to push the over night on someone who will be better at day and knows herself as far as strengths, work ethic, and when she is best for the patient. Feed back???

    Hey I am current nursing student and will be graduating in May of next year. I have similar plans as you mentioned in your video of becoming a CRNA and would like to get into the ICU as quickly as possible on graduation. Is it required to complete a residency program prior to working on the unit or will hospitals hire directly in as a new-grad?

    Do you have to do a new residency program to get into the icu as a new grad or can you apply to regular positions?

  • @glentranchi
    @glentranchi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    the thing is, icu dont want to accept new grad even if i wanted to go icu there's no hiring :'(
    i wanted icu because i wanted to go crna but no luck if hiring for new grad

    • @justinx8935
      @justinx8935 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's just your experience. I graduated in june and start in the icu in 2.5 weeks in a new grad residency program.
      if you really want it, you need to be willing to move. and I want crna school asap, so I'm making it happen.
      I'm assuming you live in the US, so if you really want it - big hint: Virginia and DC are hiring new grads in the icu./
      I was offered multiple jobs from like 5 hospitals and only have my ASN and they'll pay for my BSN

      @@justinx8935 I live in california i already have bsn but no icu hiring in my area. maybe you are right, i should make it happen and willing to move. thanks!
