He was an asshole. He started it. You handled it a lot better than most people. A lot of people would have been a lot more aggressive towards someone like that... telling him to "go f____ off" or something. I'm impressed that you didn't cuss him. May have been best to completely ignore this troublemaking jerk from the very beginning.
It's sad really. You would think fisherman out on a lake would be really cool with each other while doing something they both love to do.

Its a video, not all was captured....70 years old been fishing since I was 10 or younger. I personally think there is no need for any conflict on the water....the lakes are big enough to avoid as well as rivers long enough to move on. I personally think you could have handled it better and just moved on; but you made a personal decision to escalate ......its a hormone thing.
I went fishing as I do almost everyday on Lake Lewisville, this particular day I was bank fishing as I often do. This young man in his mid to late 30s was fishing with his two daughters and his wife.
I acknowledge him and gave the typical Top of the Morning greeting along with asking are they biting? He just glared me as if I just violated him...I moved some 75 to 100' away from him and his family and made a cast directly in front of my position.... He screamed "YOU CROSSED MY FUCKING LINE!!!!!"
I looked down the bank at him and asked, where are your lines? He shouted back "ALL OVER!!!!"
I could have argued the point but decided just to put my boat in the water. He was scum looking for a fight.
All I am saying, is sometimes the bigger man regardless of age just walks away......trust me, he did not scare me in the least, he was just a loudmouth and I am just T.T. a Toting Texan.

I'm sure you weren't the first fisherman that this guy thought he was privileged over while fishing and got away with bullying around. Thank you for your service. However you do not have the right to cut someone off, by jumping in front of them, now you can fall in line at some distance and fish behind them but keep your distance. It's like being at an amusement park, or in any line, and someone goes around you and cuts in line, how do you feel about that....this is the same principle on the water. It is not illegal, but is it piss-poor raising and piss-poor fishing etiquette. Same way you do not play through in golf to get ahead of someone unless they give you permission!

Well, here is the thing you went around which is correct how-ever my advice you need to go down further like 2 football fields. Now in my opinion it is s short cut off it is considered rude anybody with common sense would think that would you? Just saying. Now was he in the right to be upset? Well, yeah but the way he started threats like he is in the wrong so both of you are in the wrong & right. All I am saying is this in order to avoid this if you are going around go down 100-200 yards. Now people will say well, he was fishing slow. Ok there a rule about how fast or how slow you got to fish? Just go around but go down about 200 yards this is what you call fishing space. Now how do I know this? I live in Alabama. Me & My cuz we fish Pickwick river when we see a boat in the canal we go way further down to fish but if we are coming up to a boat we go around & go about 200 yards there is no way another fisherman can get upset...

He was in the wrong for approaching you like he did could of been like “hey buddie please don’t cut me off, even if your were going around me and left it go

You were absolutely NOT in the wrong!! Sad to see male “Karens” in the water acting like a spoiled child. 😡🙄 You had it on video too in case you needed proof. Keep on doing your thing, your mama raised you right.

Never wrong for saying how you feel about any situation and I mean ANYTHING. Got a little heated between you guys but that's just the passion for the sport. Ya handle that triple treble hook in the hand like true beastmaster. Don't let it ruin your day there is many miles of water to fish.

The guy was out of line starting BS like he did. You were being respectful and he decided to be an entitled schmuck from the get-go. I would have called Fish & Game and had them confront the guy when he went back to the boat ramp for harassing you. You weren't the first he harassed and won't be the last until the game wardens put him in his place.

You done nothing wrong they guy knew exactly what you was doing you both was going towards each other and when he seen you was going to go around him he started to turn his boat around. Personally if I seen someone doing that I would just leave unless I was in a tournament but you didn’t do a thing wrong

I always let them know I’m going around them as a courtesy. That’s their opportunity to say something like ok or how far I need to go. I’ve never had a problem when I’ve told them I’ll be going around. If they were to say something nasty then I’d probably just say ok and go around anyway.

If I was in the triton i would definitely think you were attempting to cut me off. Unfortunately we're unable to read minds. I can't think of too many ways to tell someone respectfully to not cut me off but the triton did it some what well. You have to look at it from his perspective. You're fishing the same direction on the same bank and you come from behind him on the TM with your rod in hand while looking at the bank.
You also started to drop your lure like you may have been making a cast.

Outside of everyone else's opinion here - I was taught to never jump in front of someone's fishing path which it appears that is what took place. I would have fished behind him or fished someplace else.
