I had the same problem a few days ago. Tried unscrewing that part with a hex wrench but stripped it. Last resort I glue gunned the hole and it works again. Thanks for pointing out where the problem is.
Wasnt able to unscrew the cap (even with 6mm metric a*al wrench). Wouldnt budge and pretty sure I broke part of the plastic from applying more and more force. Frustrated I gave it a test to see if it was now leaking more, but miraculously it worked again! Thanks for your diy miracle, would give it the holy touch again!
You just saved me 100 bucks, Sir. I appreciate that. Last time when that happend I bought a new one, now they can kiss my back. The most helpfull video on TH-cam.
OMG. It took me 2 hours to manage to get the little black plug out. It was so tight and the Alan key started spinning inside. Anyway, so much determination, I managed to do it. Change the foil. Put it all back together and Gave it a try. The foil gave away as not strong enough, so the trick didn’t work. I took it all apart, put a new piece of foil, but the same thing happened. The pressure blew a hole in the foil. Still not working.
Omg I'm so glad I found this video. It made my anxiety about having to deal with.. 'the people' disappear faster than any valium could. I'm not in America, but the customer service dread is universal! Thank you somuch for uploading it!
Brilliant. I was looking for what was supposed to hold the pressure. I kept saying, its like its missing. Sure enough, here you come to save the day. Not all heroes wear capes. But, all heroes love their sparkling water extra spicy!
Thanks a lot! This solved the isue with my Soda! Thanks a bunch for sharing it. Struggled a lot to unscrew the black cap (it was glued or melted in there). Used even WD40..nothing worked, till i pressed with pillars that white screwe thingie all around, firmly, then i uscrewed black cap finally, fortunatly coz i spinned that black thing couple times inside and lost the hope. Thanks again!
Worked perfectly. I have a different unit but the internals are pretty much exactly the same, pretty much saved me $150 dude. Super easy fix. I folded the foil over to double it up so hopefully no more problems in the future.
For those searching - Soda Stream Easy has exactly the same mechanism, except for screw (blue) CO2 pressure bottle mount. They are the same. Also thank you for showing how the rear spring tabs are mounted. I accidentally mounted mine backwards.
Great video 😅 my wife overcarbonated a bottle and blew that aluminium part. The hex/allen screw was glued so i took the whole part of. The little black nut was also glued, but i Just snapped it of and put aluminium foil folded 5 times inside the white nut. I screwed it back on. And now it works, but i only press 5 small bursts at a time and then release the pressure by releasing the bottle. Skaal from Norway 😊
I had the same problem as everyone else removing the black insert. The video presenter also said he had problems the first time he tried. I guess they glue them in to prevent people repacing them, probably because it is a safety measure! I imagine that not having the right foil in there increases the risk of fracturing the bottle as it would allow it to become over-pressurised. Would be nice if the manufacturer sold replacements and made it easy to replace. Especially since they seem to go so easily.
thank you! i tried and tried, but of course screw would not come out. so i cleaned the hole and plugged it with a micro screwdriver bit, and its working well. i had to find the right one that would not leak but it worked! thanks for showing me the thing that was bad.
This video inspired me to fix my sodastream source machine. My machine behaved the same as the one in the video, but it doesn’t have the foil doodad. So I removed and cleaned the pressure relief valve. Works like a charm.
I didn't even have to replace the foil. Once I got in there it was just all stuck together from pomegranate juice😂 I guess THAT'S why they say not to put other liquids in there. You're not my supervisor!
I thank you sirs! I was wondering when I took it apart to investigate myself why there was a little bit of foil (I'm assuming that it's a failsafe). I replaced it as you did and presto! One hint for those with the same problem...when undoing the "allen nut" alternate between loosening and tightening. There is a little dab of glue Sodastream uses to lock the nut in place and you have to break it to get it undone. Because it's plastic and the allen key is metal it's easy to strip the nut and then you're finished. It's a trick I've used on other nuts that haven't been undone for quite some time. Cheers.
Bruh, I have no idea how you found this out, but thanks a Million! BTW, I striped the 6mm hex nut because the son of guns glued the thread. I used a hacksaw and cut a slot and on the black nut, and managed to unscrew it with a large flat head screwdriver.
damn, I was unable to remove the black piece. I forced and finally broke this part. I ended up putting a cap and that works too, but there certainly a reason for the seal.
Just a heads up if your Terra isn't holding pressure and the foil is perfectly fine: The relief valve on the left - that part was stuck open on my brand new Terra, right out of the box. I couldn't see anything wrong with it but gas constantly escaped as I was using it while the bottle was locked in place and I couldn't carbonate the bottle well. I ended up exchanging mine and it works fine now but if yours is past the return date, I would start troubleshooting that valve after checking the foil.
When you replace the aluminum foil put something thicker on top of it because it will fail again.i used thick clear doubled side take.i cut the edges off and put it on top..it neverfaid again
that is called a burst disk its designed to fail rather than the bottle. be easier to just fine the screw size and put a bolt into the spot but defeats the safety feature
they have glued that insert and you cannot remove it. this maybe something new but i am sure my terra is at least a year old. i drilled the plastic insert and rolled the black plastic peice out and you can see where it was glued
Lacked the right sized alan key to open it up so I just jammed a bit of tinfoil in the hole, I assume it's a pressure release so if it needs it it can easily shoot the tinfoil out the way
Yes, it does. It seems to be a safety feature to protect the manufacturer from the liability of a burst bottle. The trouble is, if you try to run a CO2 canister empty, you get used to four or five presses (or more ...) to gas up a bottle. Finally replace the canister and forget to tell the wife ... and it gets blown!
ALLEN letters rearranged? Nalle, Nella, Lanle, Anell, Lenal, Neall, Llean, Lealn, Elaln, Enall, Allna. However, I think this guy was thinking of the word ANAL because he thinks that ALLEN wrench is spelled ALAN wrench. "Hear in "merica we do not no how to spel."
The ALLEN wrench was first made famous by ALAN Jackson (born 1958). Lots of meta references in the humor. Thank you for watching and we're glad you enjoyed our video!

I think it's a cheap burst disc style PRV they use. Crazy.
Not all men wear capes. You, sir, are a first world hero. My need for bubbly things appreciates you.
Protect this man at all cost. I didnt realize how addicted i was to this machine until it broke. The foil worked

One of the ONLY explanations I could find on the inner web for this issue and it worked perfect! You sir are incredible! Thank you!
Back in the days, the black thing was just screwed in. Nowadays these bastards at sodastream glue it in to make fixing yourself nearly impossible.
fill it with glue gun.. works for me. It's looks like it's designed for the foil to blow out eventually
OMG. It took me 2 hours to manage to get the little black plug out. It was so tight and the Alan key started spinning inside. Anyway, so much determination, I managed to do it. Change the foil. Your a lifesaver I did each step now it's working again. YOU SAVED ME MONEY from buying another 1 thanks
Glad to be of service! Happy Sodastreaming!

YOU’RE as in YOU ARE.

wow i had the exact same problem, Google showed me your video, and i tried it and your solution worked!!!! thanks!!!!
That was perfect! Thank you for putting this online.. if you ever need bail money cause SoadStream threw u in the slammer.. let me know 👍👊
This video gives me life. And by life I mean you fixed my soda stream so that I too can enjoy fizzy Gatorade once more.
Thank you, it fixed my problem. As stated in the video, it is difficult to turn the black nut. I used vice grips to turn the Allen wrench.
It is difficult because it is glued in one spot. It helped me to use towel to hold it firmly in my hand.
Worked perfectly. I have a different unit but the internals are pretty much exactly the same, pretty much saved me $150 dude. Super easy fix. I folded the foil over to double it up so hopefully no more problems in the future.

I couldn’t take the black part 😢
Foil thicknesses vary by duty and manufacturer.
Gotta love planned obsolescence. Thank you good sir for this great informational video and I hope life is good for you.
Superbly executed and presented, thanks! Had to do a simple fix on my Keurig, too. Damn plastic things cost a fortune but fail.
thank you! i tried and tried, but of course screw would not come out. so i cleaned the hole and plugged it with a micro screwdriver bit, and its working well. i had to find the right one that would not leak but it worked! thanks for showing me the thing that was bad.

Great video. I can't get that black threaded insert to budge however and the hex keys spinning in the plastic. Dang it.
We are convinced that the threaded insert is made of paper.
Can I ask how you released the black insert the first time? It is stuck so much, I cannot release it without damaging the hexe 😭😭
Thank you so much for making this. The manual says nothing about device repair or cleaning
Guess what. I just couldn’t give up, so I took it apart again, and this time I put 2 layers of foil and it worked. 👍
I thank you sirs! I was wondering when I took it apart to investigate myself why there was a little bit of foil (I'm assuming that it's a failsafe). I replaced it as you did and presto! my sodastream was water leaking while saturating, same gasket was a problem! thanks a lot!
This was so fun!!!! Sodastream star. Loving the backdrop bakery
Thanks. My one was glued as well hadd to cut black nut to get it out
Bruh, I have no idea how you found this out, but thanks a Million!
BTW, I striped the 6mm hex nut because the son of guns glued the thread. I used a hacksaw and cut a slot and on the black nut, and managed to unscrew it with a large flat head screwdriver.
I stripped it and it cracked for the same reason!
I have the same issue but even with the correct allen wrench, it still wont budge. Thinking about just plugging it completely.
damn, I was unable to remove the black piece. I forced and finally broke this part. I ended up putting a cap and that works too, but there certainly a reason for the seal.
Same
Thank you! You saved me from having to scream at my SodaStream and piss off my neighbors.
We here at Carpfarm advocate screaming in order to piss off your neighbors. Happy Sodastreaming!
Many thanks, worked well. Just the mention of the peanut butter can be a bit confusing for non-natives.😂
for me the water leaves out of this white hole... Can this be the same problem ?
Ayyy this is what I needed. You da king
Hey smoky, I’m a handy dandy kinda guy but when that happens it’s a sign that I need a new one. Cheers
You can rearrange the letters to spell Lana.
This is the perfect video. Thanks!
It was in fact…. Not edited out in post ;)
We are in fact very good at post-editing, no one will ever know! 🇺🇸
Wow… nice
thanks for the tip, worked fine !

Pressure relief valves are available for various pressures and cost less than $10. I wonder if you could get one to fit this?
You sir, are a true champion of Right to Repa.... I mean, Right to PB&J Sandwiches.
I sir knight you with the highest sodastream honors
Thank you my MASER so much :)
I used a 6 inch Allen wrench and plyers and it wouldn’t budge. I am having the same issue where it won’t carbonate.
legend has been born my dad wathed this vid and now i can drink fizzy cool aid again
they have glued that insert and you cannot remove it. this maybe something new but i am sure my terra is at least a year old. i drilled the plastic insert and rolled the black plastic peice out and you can see where it was glued
How do you get the black piece out? Is it a screw out our a pry out? I can’t get any grip with an Allen wrench at all.
Squeeze it from outside from all angles using wrench and the hold it in towel by hand.
How the heck did you get that black part out?? I've tried and tried even with Alan keys but it just won't budge!😩😩😩
Can you solve it?
Dude this saved me a whole lot of hassle. Watch out the sodastream hit teams don't come after you lol
And how to replace the button?
Lacked the right sized alan key to open it up so I just jammed a bit of tinfoil in the hole, I assume it's a pressure release so if it needs it it can easily shoot the tinfoil out the way
Crazy question: Does this happen often ?
This video or the Sodastream issue 😂
Yes, it does. It seems to be a safety feature to protect the manufacturer from the liability of a burst bottle. The trouble is, if you try to run a CO2 canister empty, you get used to four or five presses (or more ...) to gas up a bottle. Finally replace the canister and forget to tell the wife ... and it gets blown!
The plastic nut strips instantly. Time for a new one

You are the best
We were unable to loosen it and that part is now completely broken. What do I need to search for as a replacement part?
This helped. But it just went out again. 😩
try glue gun..
They changed it. Can't pop the front off anymore
Thank you for this ! 🤙🏽
Thank you sir!
Good, thank you.
i didnt understand the Allen wrench joke, so i had to read the comments.... the joke works only if it's an Alan wrench, but these are Allen keys...
How do you get the front plastic back on
I have a huge problem I did my SodaStream but it's a locked and I cannot grab the bottle out of the Sodastream
Thank you for this.
Thanks
around the hole with the broken foil, I just put duct tape around it and sealed it with a rubber band... it works again lol
You are the man 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
I have tried and tried to get the little black bit to unscrew.wont f’ing budge
Wait what does “Allen” spell rearranged?!
look at the CO2 bottle, if it doesn't have a collar it won't engage the lifter. FF Sodastream for not telling me/us!
THANK YOU!
Thanks you, peanut butter jelly man!
Thanks 👍
Sodastream surgery? I'll pass
How about a same-day procedure?
Should have read the comments. Cost me the machine.
Perfect, Thx for ure Video, so i have repair my stremer. greetings from Germany and u get a abo from me!
