INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
It is a career with a very wide range of opportunities, the motto of every industrial engineer is ¨Everything can be improved¨, the main function of the industrial engineer is to optimize the processes within any organization, be it the production of goods or services, an Industrial engineer can be developed within any organization be it extraction, agriculture, tourism, hotel, health services, aeronautical restaurant, etc.
On many occasions, companies have no idea that to solve their problems and optimize their profits, what they need is an industrial engineer to solve their situation. Another thing that I love about this career is that in the workplace it is never boring since every day you face different situations and there is always something that needs to be improved.
I am an indecisive student who's currently considering industrial engineering and doing research. I am so happy I came across your video, it was so informative and helpful ❤!

Just finished my Industrial Operations Engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Definitely an interesting and flexible field.

If i have an IE degree.. can i work in a fashion/clothing industry and maybe in a few years, can i start my own company with that degree?

I'm from Colombia and I am studying Industrial engineering. I like it so much because as you said it you can work in every field you want.
Thank you for the information, I used to study mechanical engineering and got to 9th semester but, I had a life- threatening accident, so I dropped out of college; now that I recovered from that accident, I started with industrial engineering and I'm hoping for the best!

I didn't know about industrial engineering until my sophomore year in college switched from materials science to industrial and it was one of the best decisions I made. I like the flexibility of the major for sure which is my favorite part of it .

Estudar nos eua, nao compensa pra quem é nativo do Brasil. So pra quem ja cursou toda escola desde o ensino medio, compensa. Sem contar o sistema de medidas imperial podre que usam ate hoje! Chegaram a matar varias pessoas no lançamento de uma nave espacial por confundirem sistema imperial com metrico uma vez! Deus me livre. Engenharia é Brasil E Europa, resto é resto.

Yes! No need to be scared at all. I ended up working in consulting as a project manager, so I don’t really do manufacturing at all. The flexibility is literally the best!
@@aubri118 can i work in a fashion/clothing industry? Can i also start my own clothing company with an IE degree? Cuz i really love fashion but at the same time i need a good degree that at least pays well and is in demand. I don't mind the technical stuff but i just wanted to know if in the future i can merge my IE degree with fashion/clothes related stuff. I hope u answer my question cuz im enrolling next week and i have to finalize wat major to take😭 thank u for ur time if ever you'll reply to me💖
@@roseanne2543 same... i really want to work in the fashion industry or like start my own clothing line but i'd rather study IE in college instead of going to fashion school cuz it's more assured that u're really gonna have a job cuz it's so flexible unlike just having a degree in fashion which is like so competitive n so expensive. i just wanna save up as an IE n maybe start a fashion business in the future. Industrial engineering is taught as operations and productions management here in Nigeria, is it the same or are there differences?
Hi! It may vary by school here. Some schools integrate systems and industrial engineering. Operations and production management are only a fraction of what IE is. Those are courses we take in school, but we also take much more as well.
Currently at University of Houston and starting IE courses.

I am interested in IE also. But my weakness is physics. I can do math, even advance math but physic, I don't like it. So may I ask how much physics (especially mechanics) will involve in IE?

Senior in IE here :) no matter where you go, you’re gonna need Physics 1, 2, and Statics. And then either mechanics or thermodynamics. All of them are fairly difficult as they’re designed to weed students out of the major. I wouldn’t say I’m good at physics as well (it’s my least favorite subject in all of academia tbh) but you just have to get through it! You’ll almost never use physics as an IE in the field. However, because of what you can do with IE and how versatile an IE degree is, you have to take these courses (in case you do end up needing to use it). Hope this helps! Me too I love Maths and I am good at it but physics it's the opposite
Hi Devin! No worries, I was the same way. Nicholas answered it perfectly. Although my school let you sub physics 2 for bio (which was amazing.) But you really just have to get through it. I knew I was not going to pursue a career that required strong physics or mechanics knowledge so I just made sure I didn’t fail those classes and that’s it. No need to stress big time just make sure you get through then.

Hi! Sure so keep in mind every university is different and might have different softwares.
At my school we did Python, R, Matlab, VBA, ARENA, AUTOCAD, JMP, Excel Solver etc.

Can I be an animator with an industrial engineering degree like i want a career i can be creative in and also smart. I would also like to creat toys phone cases, phones, like arts and crafts things but also l would like if the career has maths in it.I would to create things but not like cars and stuff.

I've a plan to major in both IE and Economics.
Is your A level high school? If you are still in high school I would look at the university’s curriculum you plan on attending. If they require Chemistry I would say yes take it, because it’ll make things so much easier when you take it in university.
