    I'm really enjoying your vids thank you. You have nice easy style and genuine niceness, and your cinematography and editing are top knotch! will be in turangi tomorrow for a week and can't wait to hit the mighty Tong! BTW the lid on your floatant bottle is open;-)

      Thanks mate, glad you do. It should be a good week on the Tong with last week's rain and the cold snap. Hope you have a good time. I am terrible at forgetting the floatant open. I almost ruined a new jacket that way recently. Had to wash it out and re-waterproof the jacket. Tight lines, Johan

    Hi Johan, you have done better on your river than we have on the upper pools of the T. The pools have really changed, not just the banks but also the bottom structures after the constant discharge from the dam. There are some mighty huge Douglas Fir trees uprooted and lots off others lying about after the last huge wind gusts, so be prepared. We managed to pick up some nice fish just outside the Lodge, again having to re learn the structure of the pool. It’s obvious that the early runs and the resident fish were swept back to the lake during huge water flow and have not returned. Most of the fish are the smaller ones. When the big jacks run to get the best reeds, then we know that the winter run proper has started. Usually you can tell as the mountain tops have a decent snow covering. So, lower reaches are fishing well especially to early morning swing technique. Nice to see you in home waters! Cheers mate. Harera

      I went up there over the weekend and some crazy big trees down. Lots of changes all through the river. Many of my old haunts are gone so lots of exploring to do to find the new holding areas. Should be good fun. We really need to try and coordinate meeting up this season, I'll try to be a bit more onto it. Tight lines, hopefully it won't be so long between videos anymore.

      Yeah I can fully understand. Was down there over winter a couple years back with Simon. We went to swing the big rivers and had some fun and then got stuck at the canals chasing monsters along one of the lake edges. Was freezing and different. You should come up for a couple of weeks one winter and give it a go.

    Great video and fishing episode. Like your flyline- is that a sink tip🤔. Like the white and red colour. Awesome days fishing 🎣 👍

    • @darrelbaillie7829
      @darrelbaillie7829 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I saw more, I assume the white tip is more for visibility. I see it floats 😅

    • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing
      @CrazyAboutFlyFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Darrel, the fly line when I am nymphing is an Airflo Universal Taper WF6 floating line with ridge 2.0 not a sink tip. They come in two colour options. The one with the red running line is nice for winter for visibility. I have the more camo version on my 5wt for summer. Glad you enjoyed the video. Tight lines.
