- Finally another American Girl doll haul! This one survived a house fire... Probably my coolest and rarest yet? I'm so excited to have so many early Pleasant Company pieces and a lovely Samantha to cherish :)
I found this doll on Facebook marketplace and got a great deal! Always be careful and cautious when you meet up in person with strangers. Buddy system, have a friend on the phone, tell someone where you are going and when to expect you back - whatever makes the most sense.

I also like watching Jonny's videos. I am not really drawn to the older dolls because I like some of the newer face molds better, but the details of the old collections are interesting. I have learned, or refreshed my memory, about some historical events just by looking at the AG items. I love the original teaching concept of American Girl, and it's sad that many kids have now stopped playing with dolls at ten years-old, which is the age the stories were aimed at.
The Baldwin Primer, author May Kirk, published 1899. This book was for early learning through stories, songs and writing exercises. Original copies can still be found on ebay and other sites.
I follow another TH-camr from the U.K. ,and she gets dolls 2nd hand & ends up making her collection, not just dolls on a shelf, but they have unique stories behind many. One doll was a mess, ( had a back story i dont remember ) but she gave it love & made her a quirky outfit. And a couple times things near her broke. Her teen daughter said the doll did it & named her Nightmare Nutmeg. Anyways, my point is, I think it's fun when a doll isn't perfect, & they have a story. It gives them a unique personality.
I like dolls that have history even if they never restore to perfection :)

Great find! The mirror is original and came with the trunk, the tin, music box all original to Samantha. What a great way to jump start a Samantha collection! Enjoy 🎉
These retro little girls are so cute
Wow, this is one of the most beautiful Samantha dolls I've ever seen! Her eyelashes are so wispy, those bright amber eyes and her little pink blush, I can't believe how much color and life she still has! Sometimes white bodies can look a little haunted, but this Samantha just has such charm to her with her adorable little wink. :) Not to mention she survived a literal fire, like, ok queen go off. What a find!

The green square is probably a pen wiper. The wrapping on the pen is probably intended to simulate the cork where you put your fingers on the old dip-in-inkwell pens.

A little pity (but not serious) the issue of the right eye mechanism (maybe is only a bit a dirt stuck inside. but I don't know the way to clean it), but this doll is really wonderful 💕.
As I know, the Pleasant's dolls with white body are very rare and requested by the collectors: you had a great luck to find one of them... and she is even miraculous that is survived from a fire with her suitcase: I believe she needs a lot of love 🥰.
I also have a Pleasant's Samantha (but with beige body) and love, really love her, as a real girl child, so I know very well how is cute, sweet glanced and adorable.
Take a lot care of her, as she deserves it.
I definitely STEPPED on my original hairbrush. They are real metal and sturdy 😂. Had the official matching nightgown with my samatha doll as a kid, and the limited edition blue sailor set... the rest were knockoffs made with the official patterns. Very jealous of this find!

OMG CONGRATS! American Girl and Pleasant company is basically the only thing that I collect and it’s my number one special interest! Oh btw the lunch tin is Samantha’s, there’s multiple variations depending on what the lunch box came with over the years, but the tin always stayed the same. It’s funny that you posted this because in exactly one week and four days from now, I will be getting my first white body! I saved up my own money to buy her and I finally have enough because I met a women who sells AG and PC dolls and she held her for me till I had enough ❤ so grateful for her and I cannot wait to get my first white body! Waited almost 10 years for a WB doll!
The brass tin is her lunch bucket for school. It can easily be cleaned.
I don't collect AG, I'm in Ireland so we don't really see them here very often, but they are really cute and I enjoy seeing videos about their history
I really wish the attempt to bring them to international had paid off. I think a full expansion where they cover histories of other countries would be so fabulous!! I think the only INTL presence they have now are Dubai and Canada?

I know I gush about her literally every AG video, but I’m so grateful my childhood Samantha is in near-perfect condition (only from the 00s, but still). Sadly my school uniform didn’t make it into her (off-brand but pretty hardy) trunk all her years in storage and isn’t in great shape, kicking myself for that.
You can repaint the outside of the box/case with acrylic paint and decorate it. IT is still good on the inside!

Write the company, let them know (include pic )what happened to the trunk and ask if it can be repaired. You never know…..they may have a solution! Nothing ventured nothing gained!
A dry cleaner might be able to clean the trunk.
